I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...

We were moved by your honesty and by the way you give the Lord the glory for the improvement you have already seen. To have prayed and wept so much and then to see real change is a mercy, and we thank God with you for it. We also hear how deeply you long for that change to go further and to last, not just in actions but in your heart and mind.

Wanting to be free with your whole heart is a good place to be, and lasting freedom often grows not by trying harder alone but by walking more openly and steadily. Isolation tends to make temptation stronger, while honest, consistent support makes it weaker.

If it would help, consider inviting one mature, same-sex believer you trust to be a regular check-in partner, someone you can speak plainly with each week about both victories and struggles. Many who have walked this road have found a small Christian support group especially steadying as well. It can also help to notice honestly when and where flirting or pornography has tended to surface for you and to put clear, practical boundaries in place ahead of time. If you find the struggle staying stuck, meeting with a pastor or Christian counselor for more personal support alongside prayer can be a wise next step.

Father, we lift our brother to you with thanks for the work you have already done in his life. Have mercy on him, give him wisdom and a renewed mind, and keep drawing him close to Jesus. Provide the friendships and help he needs and guard his heart day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

We thank God with you for the mercy He has already shown, and we give all glory to the Lord Jesus Christ for every step of improvement He has wrought in you. It is a good sign that you hate the sin that once held you, and that you cry after holiness, for deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin, and where we look for justification there must we also look for sanctification.

You have confessed that lust when it has conceived brings forth sin, and sin when it is finished brings forth death, and any sin that we cling to and love will bring forth death. Therefore we rejoice that you desire to be kept unspotted from the world, for charity and purity are the two great garments of Christianity, and the Lord would have His people pure within and without. The way of purity is not to play with temptation but to flee from it, to keep the heart with all diligence, and to walk before God in the covenant of grace which keeps a man from the spots of the age.

We join you in prayer that God will do whatever is needful to remove these sins forever from your life and heart, in the name of Jesus Christ. We pray that He will renew your mind, for renewal is of absolute necessity if we would persevere, and it is a stern work which requires the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. No created thing is self existent, and the soul must be renewed day by day by the Spirit of God, or it will decline and fancy will rule the mind and love of ease will control the body. May the Lord make you very wise, not with the wisdom of this world, but with that wisdom which comes from above, which is first pure and then peaceable, that you may discern the snare and turn from it before it entangles you.

Remember that God has not only invented a way of deliverance but has found a ransom. The prisoner ready to be executed receives undeserved deliverance because the King's own Son has borne the penalty of all his iniquities. Sinner, do not doubt your deliverance, for God has said, I have found a ransom. That ransom is Christ Jesus, and through His blood there is deliverance from the pit and from the power of darkness. He can bring you forth effectually, for though you are willing to move, it is still true, He brought them forth. You can do nothing of yourself to claim honor for your deliverance, it must be of free grace only, and when divine grace comes, deliverance comes.

We pray that the Lord will show you mercy, speak to you by His Word, give you understanding and full deliverance. May He hide you from the darkness which blinds the mind and depresses the spirit, and may He grant you light to see sin as God sees it, and strength to forsake it. And when He has delivered you, may your conduct be that of the believer who says, I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord, telling to others what great things God has done for your soul, that they also may seek the same mighty Savior.

We will continue to pray that this improvement will be lasting and true, not a temporary reformation but a gracious renewal of your consecration to Christ, for the glory of God alone. We give thanks with you to the Lord Jesus Christ for the improvement He has already granted, and we give Him all the glory for it. He has seen your prayers and your tears, and He hears those who come to Him with a humble and contrite heart. The fact that you grieve over these sins and desire to be free from them is itself a sign of His mercy at work in you.

We will pray with you for lasting and true deliverance, for the renewal of your mind, and for wisdom to walk in purity for the glory of God. We ask God to show you mercy, to give you understanding, and to make you wise so that you may turn away from pornography, masturbation, flirting and all sexual sin and keep them far from your heart and life in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Take courage and continue in repentance and faith. God does not only forgive, He also cleanses and renews. As you have begun to learn, so continue step by step. Divide virtue into its parts and practice them faithfully, as one learns letters and then joins them together. Learn first to guard your eyes and your tongue, to put away lust and envy and excess, and then to practice continence, temperance, righteousness and gentleness, writing these upon your soul. Lust often comes through small doors, through careless talk and jesting and lingering looks, so turn away from whatever feeds it and pursue what makes for purity.

Remember that God looks to him who is meek and quiet and trembles at His word, not to the proud heart. Do not trust in your own strength, but walk humbly, keep close to Christ, keep your mind filled with Scripture, flee from occasions of temptation, and be an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

Let us pray. Father, we thank You for the work You have begun in our brother. We ask in the Name of Jesus Christ that You would complete it. Have mercy upon him, forgive him, cleanse his heart, renew his mind, and make him wise to discern and to flee from every trap. Give him true deliverance from these sins, keep him from returning to them, and lead him in the path of holiness and self control. Teach him to love purity, to live for Your glory, and to find his joy in You. Guard his heart and his thoughts, strengthen him by Your Holy Spirit, and keep him faithful until the end. Giving thanks with you for the improvement you have seen is right, and all glory belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ for it. He has heard your crying and praying, and His mercy is at work. The fact that you can see change already is evidence of His grace, and it is good that you want not just outward restraint but a lasting and true change of heart for the glory of God.

The struggle you describe has its root deeper than outward behavior. Scripture teaches that lust wars within us, in our own members, and that a person is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. When that desire is entertained it conceives sin. That is why true deliverance must reach the heart and mind, not only the actions. You are asking rightly for God to renew your mind and make you wise, because wisdom from Him shows you where temptation begins and helps you turn away at the first thought, before lust takes hold.

The Bible describes the spirit of this world as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, and says these things are not from the Father but from the world, and the world is passing away with its lusts. The enemy still works in those same three areas as he did with Eve and as he tried with Jesus. Today the opportunities to feed the lust of the eyes and the flesh are everywhere through images, screens, and entertainment that are designed to inflame passion. What is presented as beauty or freedom is often a trap that stirs desire without love, and outside of marriage sexual intimacy is not love but lust seeking to consume.

Pornography is especially enslaving. Many have found it to be like a drug that takes hold of the mind and will not let go, creating pressure toward further sexual sin and flirting and impurity. It promises pleasure but it brings bondage, and it can destroy relationships and what is precious and good. It follows a pattern of arousal leading to promiscuity and to deeper corruption. You cannot be set free by willpower alone. You need to be washed and renewed by the Word of God and to lay hold of His great promises, by which we are made partakers of His divine nature and escape the corruption that is in the world through lust. What we sow we will also reap, so sowing to the Spirit and to purity, feeding your mind daily with Scripture, guarding your eyes and your heart, and fleeing from what stirs lust is the path toward freedom.

Prayer is not a way to get God to serve our own desires, but a way for us to come into agreement with His will. Your prayer to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever is a prayer He delights to answer, because He desires purity and holiness for you even as Christ is pure.

Let us pray together that God will continue His work in you in the name of Jesus Christ. May He show you mercy, speak to you, and give you understanding. May He renew your mind, grant you wisdom to recognize and cut off temptation early, wash your thoughts with His Word, and keep you walking in holiness and self control. May He establish you in lasting deliverance so that your life, including your sexuality which belongs only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, will be kept pure and will bring glory to Him alone. He who began this good work is faithful to complete it as you continue to trust and obey Him.
