Help I need answers.

I am starting to walk the walk again. I was baptised before. I have found this new church. But I keep hearing one thing from them about giving your life to God. That you have to make sacrifices. Sacrifices of the physical, the spiritual, and financial. They are having a campaign of some sort and they keep talking about giving your all, and then show videos with people selling their stuff, emptying their bank accounts to get money to give to the campaign. Saying you have to sacrifice your finances as if I'm to clean out my bank account to sacrifice it to God. So He can do something for me. But I think God is realistic, and wouldn't ask me to clean out my bank account as a sacrifice. I am really enjoying the church, but just that every day it's money, money, money. Empty bank account, give your all. I am Loving God so much, but I don't believe the money as sacrifice. Help me please, I need an answer.

I can't say what the right amount to give would be, but I don't believe God wants us to give everything to the church. Jesus also said that He wanted compassion and not sacrifice. You cannot buy your way into the Kingdom of God, and that is what some of these may be trying. As far as baptism, I have fought that before in church. We have the baptism as a show of obedience to God, not as a show of obedience to a church or a certain religion. If you are feeling all these things in this church, I would recommend that you run, not walk out of there, and find a good Spirit-filled church. I will pray for you and pray that you would be led to a church established by God. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Lord, I just pray that you would direct and lead ### and the people at that church to the right direction. I am still learning about Christianity, and I don't think I can give any specific advice to ### and her church people. But Lord, it is one of your houses. Let them speak to them and respond to them in your best ways. Give them the right answer through scripture and messages.

I am in agreement with ###. This is not the church for you. There are so many churches, so many philosophies - if it seems wrong to you, it usually is. Again, baptism is a personal issue, and not one that should be required by a church. Some people are baptized as infants, and them are baptized again as adults, only so the spiritual commitment truly comes from their heart and the heart of their parents. It has to fit you. It has to make you want to serve and learn and grow. I will pray that you might find the house of worship that promotes the kind of fellowship God feels you need. Don't rush into it...you're still a Christian even if you don't have a church.

If you are not at peace with these decisions, evaluate the source in which this lack of peace is coming. I know God's word says tithe but not give everything, just 10% of the first fruits, which means before tax income. I know some people are offended by churches talking about money when they are not on a tithing program, but to empty out your bank account sounds a little overboard. I would pray and ask God to give you peace in the decision you need to make. You can be baptized again if you were young and did not know what you were publicly professing, but if you were conscious of what baptism really means, then maybe not. It does sound like you were out of the will of God for a while, so I would pray on this matter as well. God will open the doors that need to be opened and close the ones that need closing; have faith, my sister. I do agree with putting God first in all you do and dying to self (sacrificing the flesh) for God. Which translates to following God's will, not your fleshly desires. "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you." Praise God, he is faithful.
