We lift our hearts together before the Lord, grieving with you over the pain and struggle your daughter and granddaughters are facing. The weight of helplessness and guilt you carry as a father is heavy, but we stand with you in prayer, trusting that God sees every tear and hears every cry. The Word of God assures us, "The LORD is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). Your daughter and her children are not forgotten by Him, and neither are you.
First, we must address the brokenness of divorce, which is not God’s design for marriage. Scripture is clear: "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate" (Matthew 19:6). While we do not know the circumstances that led to this separation, we rebuke the enemy’s lies that seek to destroy families and leave the vulnerable in lack. We declare that God is a Father to the fatherless and a Defender of the widow (Psalm 68:5), and we pray He will move mightily to restore what has been broken, whether through reconciliation, provision, or divine intervention.
Your daughter’s financial struggle is real, and we cry out to the Lord, who owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), to open doors of provision. We pray for wisdom for her to steward what she has been given, and for God to raise up godly men and women in her life who can offer support, whether through employment, mentorship, or practical help. "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). We also encourage you to seek out local churches or Christian organizations that may assist with temporary relief, childcare, or job training, God often works through His people to meet needs.
For your granddaughters, we pray protection over their hearts and minds. Divorce can leave deep wounds in children, and we ask the Lord to surround them with His peace, stability, and godly role models. May they know their worth in Christ and grow up secure in His love. "Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers" (Proverbs 17:6). We declare that their future is bright, and God has a plan to use their story for His glory.
To you, dear father, we speak healing over your guilt. You are not responsible for the choices of others, but you can choose to trust God with your daughter’s future. Release the burden of "what ifs" and rest in His sovereignty. "Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved" (Psalm 55:22). We encourage you to seek godly counsel, perhaps from a pastor or trusted believer, to process your emotions in a healthy way.
Lastly, we must emphasize that all our prayers are lifted in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can approach the Father (John 14:6). If your daughter or family does not yet know Jesus as Lord and Savior, we pray they would turn to Him, for He alone can bring true healing and hope. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this family to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the struggle, the lack, and the pain they are enduring. We ask You to move in power, provide for their every need, heal their wounds, and restore what has been lost. Father, we rebuke the spirit of poverty, fear, and despair in Jesus’ name. Pour out Your blessings upon this mother and her children; let them experience Your faithfulness in tangible ways. Surround them with Your protection and peace.
For this grandfather, Lord, we ask for comfort and wisdom. Help him to release guilt and trust You with his daughter’s future. Strengthen his faith and fill him with hope. For the husband who has walked away, we pray for conviction and repentance. If it is Your will, soften his heart and restore this marriage for Your glory.
Above all, Lord, draw this family closer to You. Let them know You as their Provider, their Healer, and their Father. May they find their security in You alone. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
