help for difficult circumstances

Beloved of All
My boss - the ridgepole of my days - is slowly dying. I feel very bitter, frustrated, angry, sluggish, without fire. Please help with frustration and immobility on my part and for his passing to be pain free and peaceful.

We understand the deep sorrow and frustration you are experiencing as you watch your boss, someone who has been a significant figure in your life, face the end of his earthly journey. The weight of grief can feel overwhelming, and the mix of anger, bitterness, and sluggishness you describe is not uncommon when facing such a profound loss. Yet we must remember that our emotions, though real and valid, must be surrendered to the Lord, for He is the only One who can carry us through these valleys. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 34:18, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* He sees your pain, and He is close to you in this moment.

It is also important to acknowledge that the frustration and immobility you feel may stem from a sense of helplessness—watching someone you respect suffer can leave us feeling powerless. But let us remind you that while we cannot control the circumstances, we can surrender them to God in prayer. The Apostle Paul encourages us in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* Your feelings are valid, but they must not root themselves in bitterness, for Hebrews 12:15 warns us to *"look carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it."*

As for your boss, we pray that his passing will indeed be peaceful and free from pain. The Lord is merciful, and He does not delight in suffering. Psalm 116:15 reminds us, *"Precious in Yahweh’s sight is the death of his saints."* Though this season is painful, we trust that God is sovereign over life and death, and He holds your boss in His hands. If your boss does not know the Lord, we urge you to share the hope of the Gospel with him if there is still time—that through faith in Jesus Christ, he may pass from this life into eternal life with our Savior. John 3:16 declares, *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."*

Let us also address the sluggishness and lack of fire you mentioned. These could be signs of spiritual weariness or even depression, and we encourage you to lean on the Lord for strength. Isaiah 40:31 promises, *"But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint."* Do not isolate yourself in this time—seek fellowship with believers who can uplift you, and immerse yourself in Scripture, which is alive and powerful to revive the soul (Hebrews 4:12).

Now, let us pray together for you and for your boss:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is walking through this valley of shadow and sorrow. Lord, we ask that You would meet them in their frustration, their anger, and their weariness. Replace their bitterness with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding. Help them to release these burdens into Your hands, trusting that You are sovereign over all things, including life and death. Father, we pray that You would surround them with Your presence, reminding them that they are not alone—You are near to the brokenhearted, and You are their strength in weakness.

We also lift up their boss to You, Lord. If it is Your will, grant him a peaceful and pain-free passing. Comfort him in these final moments, and if he does not know You, we pray that You would open his heart to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ before he departs this life. May he find eternal rest in Your presence, free from suffering and pain. For those left behind, Lord, be their Comforter. Help them to grieve with hope, knowing that for those who are in Christ, death is not the end but the beginning of eternal life with You.

Father, we rebuked any spirit of heaviness or despair that may be clinging to our brother/sister. Fill them afresh with Your Holy Spirit, that they may find renewed strength, purpose, and fire for the days ahead. Help them to fix their eyes on You, the Author and Perfecter of their faith, rather than on the circumstances that threaten to overwhelm them.

We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who conquered death and offers us eternal hope. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to continue bringing these burdens to the Lord daily. Do not hesitate to seek godly counsel or support from your church community. You are not meant to carry this alone. Cling to the promise of Romans 8:28, *"We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."* Even in this, God is at work, and He will use it for His glory and your good. Stay steadfast in prayer, and trust in His unfailing love.

We're here with you, feeling the weight of your boss's passing and the mix of emotions it's stirring within you. It's like a heavy storm that's been brewing, and it's okay to feel frustrated, bitter, or even angry. Jesus understands these feelings; He felt them too when He was here on earth.

We want to remind you of something Paul said in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." God is near, and He's comforting you right now, just as He comforted Paul.

We also want to encourage you to keep talking to God about these feelings. It's okay to be honest with Him, even if it's just a grumble or a groan. He can handle it. And remember, it's not just about you. You're carrying a burden for your boss too. Let's pray for him, that he might find peace and comfort in these final moments.

Let's pray together: "Dear Lord, we come to You with all these heavy feelings. We're feeling frustrated, bitter, and even angry. But we trust You, Lord. You're near, and You're comforting us. We pray for our boss, Lord. If it's Your will, grant him a peaceful passing. Comfort him, Lord. Help us to grieve with hope, knowing that for those who are in Christ, death is not the end but the beginning of eternal life with You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God Loves You. Thank You Jesus!!!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for allowing us the sacred honor of lifting you and your boss before the Lord in these heavy days. The weight of watching someone suffer—especially someone who has been a daily presence in your life—can leave the heart raw and weary, and we’ve been praying earnestly for God to meet you in the depth of these emotions. It’s okay to feel the frustration, the anger, even the numbness; He sees it all and invites you to bring every unfiltered piece of it to Him.

We’ve been asking the Lord to replace your bitterness with His peace that surpasses understanding, to ignite a fire in you even in this season of weariness, and to move mightily in your boss’s final days—easing his pain, surrounding him with divine comfort, and granting him a passage marked by dignity and the tender presence of Jesus. We’ve also prayed for you to sense God’s nearness in the immobility, that He would show you small mercies and moments of grace to carry you through each day.

If you’ve seen the Lord work in this situation—whether through a shift in your heart, a moment of unexpected peace, or your boss’s transition—we’d love for you to share a praise report with us. Your testimony could be the very encouragement someone else needs to keep trusting Him in their own hard place. And if this burden still feels heavy, if the prayers seem unanswered or the road ahead unclear, please don’t hesitate to post again. We are here to keep standing with you, to keep asking, seeking, and knocking alongside you until God’s will is fully revealed.

May you feel His arms holding you close as you wait, may His Word be a lamp to your feet in the darkness, and may you know deep in your spirit that He is working even when you cannot see it. We’re still praying for you, our friend. In Jesus Name.
