My marriage is not good right now. My wife is getting tired of me because I can't get up and I sleep all the time. I'm afraid that I'm heading for a divorce. Will you pray and ask god to help me to let me keep my marriage and have enough energy to get up and not sleep all the time and take care of the things that I need to.

We hear the burden in your request and we are standing with you in prayer for your marriage, your health, and your home and work responsibilities. We know how heavy it feels when you are afraid of losing your marriage and when your wife is growing weary, and we want you to know that God cares deeply about both of you and about the covenant you made before Him.

We believe with you that marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman ordained by God, and He desires to preserve and strengthen it. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate Mark 10:9. Husbands are called to love their wives sacrificially, Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25. Part of that love is faithfully caring for the needs of the household and showing through our daily diligence that our family can depend on us. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23.

We also hear that you are sleeping all the time and cannot get up to take care of what needs to be done. We say this with love and concern, the Scripture warns us about giving ourselves over to excessive sleep and sloth, How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep, so your poverty will come as a robber, and your want as an armed man Proverbs 6:9-11. At the same time we understand that constant exhaustion can also come from physical causes, discouragement, anxiety, or spiritual heaviness, and it should not be ignored. He gives power to the faint. He increases the strength of him who has no might Isaiah 40:29. But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint Isaiah 40:31. We encourage you to bring this honestly before the Lord, to talk openly with your wife with humility and ask her forgiveness where you have not served her well, and to seek wise help. Please see a doctor to rule out medical causes for your fatigue, seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature Christian counselor, and invite your wife to pray with you. Simple steps of obedience can open the door for God to renew your strength, keeping a consistent sleep schedule, daily prayer and time in the Word, walking and caring for your body, and faithfully doing the next duty God has placed before you at home and at work.

We noticed your request asked God for help but did not mention Jesus Christ. We want to gently and clearly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, confessing your sin and believing that He died for you and rose again, and to come to God in prayer in His name.

We now pray together for you.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this husband and his marriage to You. Lord, have mercy and bring healing where there is weariness and distance. Forgive us where we have been slothful or have neglected the duties You have given us, and cleanse us through the blood of Jesus. We ask You to restore this marriage and to guard it from divorce. Soften his wife's heart and his own heart, teach them to love and forgive as You have loved us, and help them to speak to one another with grace and truth. Lord, touch his body and mind and give him strength to rise, to remain awake and alert, and to faithfully care for the things You have entrusted to him at home and at work. Lift any heaviness, depression, or infirmity, and give wisdom to doctors and counselors who may help him. Renew his strength as he waits on You, and help him to walk in diligence and to love his wife as Christ loves the church. We ask that You would deepen his faith in Jesus and that Your will would be done in this family. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray daily with your wife if she is willing, to be honest about your struggles, to keep your promises in small things so trust can be rebuilt, and to persevere. The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous man is powerfully effective James 5:16. God is able to help you keep your marriage and to give you the energy and faithfulness to do what needs to be done for His glory.

We are grateful you reached out and shared so honestly. Carrying the fear that your marriage is slipping while you feel unable to get up and are sleeping so much must be exhausting and discouraging. We hear how much you want to stay married and to have the energy to take care of things at home and at work.

When sleep and low energy take over, it affects everything, and it is understandable that both you and your wife are feeling worn down. Wanting to change and not knowing how to get there can feel lonely, but you do not have to walk through this alone.

We will be praying for you, and we also encourage you to reach out soon for personal support alongside prayer. Please consider seeing your primary care doctor to talk through the ongoing fatigue and sleep, so someone who knows you can listen and help you explore next steps. It can also be a real help to talk with a pastor or counselor you trust, and to have an open, honest conversation with your wife about wanting help and wanting to work on things together.

Father, we bring this brother before you in Jesus name. You see his heart for his marriage and his desire to be faithful at home and at work. Grant him wisdom, strength for each day, and clear guidance as he seeks help. Bring grace and understanding between him and his wife, and lead them both toward healing and hope. Amen.

Your burden has been laid before the Lord and we have heard your cry for help in your home and in your work. We will pray and ask God to help you to keep your marriage, to give you strength to rise and to do the duties that belong to you, and to bring restoration where there has been weariness and fear.

We take comfort that our Lord Jesus is a Restorer. He says, He restores my soul. There is nothing in us that can claim restoration, yet He wills to save and He stands to His purpose. As with Peter, who was down but was soon up again, the Lord looked upon him and prayed for him, and that look severed him from the crowd and brought him to repentance and to weeping and then to usefulness again. If Jesus prays for His people He will win His suit with God, and He will uplift those whom Satan has sifted. If you have grown neglectful or heavy and dull of heart, He is able to turn you again to your old life and hope, and to make you afterwards better able to strengthen others. Often that which appears to be our utter destruction ends in our complete restoration according to His grace.

Concerning marriage, we are taught that it is not a mere convenience but a covenant that is cemented by mutual love, the result of choice on both sides, wherein husband and wife become one. The Scripture says, I am married unto you, and it implies a blessed choice and a nearness that is not of birth but of love. We can conceive of scarcely any worse torment than conjugal union without affectionate communion, for marriage bands should not be mere bonds and unity should not be misery. Therefore we pray that the Lord will help you to love your wife as Christ loves His Church, and to seek communion with her in honesty and tenderness, and that He will help her to have patience and hope toward you as you seek to amend your ways.

We will pray that God will give you enough energy to get up and not sleep all the time and to take care of the things that you need to. We ask Him to restore your soul and your body, to give you diligence and clarity, and to help you to walk in the way of grace and not of mere self effort, for all our healing lies in Christ. At the same time we urge you, as a matter of stewardship, to seek wise counsel. Speak openly with your wife, confess your fear and your desire to do better, and ask her forgiveness where you have neglected her. Seek help from a faithful pastor who can walk with you both, and seek medical counsel also, for continual sleepiness and lack of energy may have a bodily cause that should be examined and cared for.

Let us pray together. O Lord, who alone can save through Jesus Christ our Lamb, look upon this husband in mercy. You know his weariness and his fear of divorce. We ask that You would keep this marriage according to Your holy institution of one man and one woman in lifelong covenant, and that You would not let it be broken. Restore his soul, give him strength to rise, to labour, to love and to provide. Teach him to go out as Peter went out, away from the place of failure, to weep and to return to You, and then to feed and cherish his own household with renewed love. Grant to his wife grace and renewed affection, and grant to them both a mutual love that makes them one. Lead them to seek You first, that all other things may be ordered aright. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our only hope. Amen.

God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
