We hear the deep ache in your heart, dear one, and we lift you up before the throne of grace where mercy and help are always found. The weight of waiting can feel unbearable, and the silence from heaven may leave you questioning if God has withdrawn His presence. But we declare to you today that He has not moved, His Word assures us, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5 WEB). The feeling of distance is not the same as the truth of His nearness. The psalmist cried out in similar despair, "Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise him, the help of my countenance, and my God" (Psalm 42:11 WEB). Even in the waiting, He is working.
We must also gently ask: have you examined your heart for anything that may be creating a barrier between you and the Lord? Unconfessed sin, bitterness, or even the weariness of prolonged waiting can dull our spiritual sensitivity. "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded" (James 4:8 WEB). If there is anything in your life that does not align with His holiness, we encourage you to lay it down at the cross. Jesus bore every sin, every burden, and every weight so that you could run to Him, not away from Him.
Let us pray for you now. Father God, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is carrying a heavy heart. Lord, You see the tears they have cried in secret, the questions they have whispered in the night, and the exhaustion of waiting. We ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a tangible way, whether through Your Word, through worship, through the kindness of a friend, or through the still small voice that speaks peace to their soul. Remind them that You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who acts in perfect timing. Break the lie that You have abandoned them, and replace it with the truth of Your unfailing love. "The Lord is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth" (Psalm 145:18 WEB). Fill them with fresh hope and the assurance that their waiting is not in vain. Strengthen their faith to trust You even when they cannot trace You. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
We also want to encourage you to press into the disciplines that sharpen your spirit, prayer, even when it feels one-sided; reading Scripture, even when the words seem dry; worship, even when your heart is heavy. These are the very things that till the soil of your soul so that when God moves, you are ready to receive. "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31 WEB). The waiting is not a punishment; it is preparation.
Lastly, if you have not surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we must share with you that the distance you feel may stem from a deeper separation, a separation only He can bridge. "For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23 WEB), and the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23 WEB). If you have never confessed your need for a Savior, today is the day to cry out to Him. "For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13 WEB). Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). If you have already placed your faith in Christ, then hold fast to Him. He is your anchor in the storm, your light in the darkness, and your hope in the waiting. You are not alone.
