Heavenly Father
We join with you in lifting up these two dear ones before our Heavenly Father, and we thank you for calling upon the mighty name of Jesus, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the throne of grace.
We hear the burden on your heart for one who is lost and sad right now, and for another whom you feel is not far away. We take comfort knowing that our God is the Shepherd who seeks the lost and the Father who draws near to the brokenhearted. We are reminded of the truth that the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost Luke 19:10, and that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. No one is hidden from His sight, for even if someone wanders, His hand still guides them, as it is written, Where can I go from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there Psalm 139:7-8.
We pray together for them now.
Father, in the name of Jesus we bring these two precious souls before You. You know each by name and You see exactly where they are, both physically and in their hearts. For the one who is lost and sad, we ask that You wrap him in Your comfort and let him feel Your nearness. Turn his sadness into hope and reveal Yourself to him as the God who will never leave him nor forsake him Deuteronomy 31:8. Lead him out of darkness and into Your marvelous light, and guide his steps back to fellowship with You. For the other, whom we believe is not far away, we ask that You complete the work You have begun and draw him close. Give him ears to hear Your voice and a heart to respond. We ask that You place people around both of them who will speak Your truth in love and point them to Christ.
We also pray for you who interceded for them, that the Lord will strengthen your faith as you wait and give you peace knowing that He hears your prayers. We encourage you to continue to seek Him earnestly, for you will seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart Jeremiah 29:13. Keep trusting that He is working even when you cannot see, and do not grow weary in praying for them, for the Lord is faithful and His love endures.
We thank You Father that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name, and we trust Your perfect will and timing for both of these lives. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, amen.

Your burden for these two souls is itself a tender mercy from the Lord who puts such love into our hearts. To be lost and sad is indeed a sorrowful condition, yet it is the very condition for which Christ came. He is come to seek and to save that which was lost. You are not to find yourselves first and then think He will come and find you. He is come to seek you.
There is no hope in ourselves. Our rags cannot recommend us and the swine trough cannot be used as an argument. But there is hope in the Father. When the prodigal was yet a great way off, his father saw him and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him with much love. That much kissing means much forgiveness. Before the prodigal could come to the details of his sins, his father had forgiven him. There stood the prodigal overwhelmed by his father's goodness, yet remembering his past life, and the father joys in the return of the prodigal and all Heaven shares in His joy. So it shall be said of these for whom you pray, if they turn unto Him.
The way of salvation is simple and plain. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. It is not a consideration of what you are, but a consideration of what God is and what Christ is that can save you. It is looking from yourself to Jesus. Look unto Him and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth. A look does not require a moment, and that look saves. This salvation is without money and without price, and it is offered freely to the chief of sinners.
Let us pray together for them.
O Lord our God, Thou seest those who are lost and sad, though they be far off in their own thoughts. Thou knowest their sorrow and their wandering. We ask Thee to seek them as the Good Shepherd seeketh the stray sheep. Work in them by Thy Holy Spirit to show them their need, to bring them to repentance toward Thee and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation. Grant them to see that there is no hope in themselves, but that there is hope in Christ, and that whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed. Forgive them much, as Thou forgivest prodigals, and give them overflowing comfort in the knowledge of Thy pardoning love. Bring them home, we beseech Thee, not to a false peace, but to true reconciliation with Thee through the blood of Thy Son. And give to the one who intercedes for them a quiet confidence in Thy sovereign mercy, and grace to continue in prayer.
We ask this not because we are worthy, but because Jesus is worthy, and His honor is engaged to save the meanest of His sheep. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ our only hope, Amen.
