We rejoice with you in this opportunity to serve the Lord in leading His people in worship and the proclamation of His Word. What a privilege it is to stand before the body of Christ and guide them into the presence of our Heavenly Father! We are reminded of the words of James 3:17, "But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy." As you prepare your heart and mind for these services, we pray that this divine wisdom will fill you to overflowing.
We also lift up the truth found in 1 Corinthians 1:26-29, "For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble; but God chose the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. God chose the weak things of the world to confound the things which are strong; and God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should boast before God." It is not by your own strength or wisdom that you will lead, but by the power of God working through you. We pray that you will remember this truth and rely fully on Him.
Father God, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the opportunity You have given our brother/sister to serve You in this way. We ask that You would go before them, preparing their heart and the hearts of those who will gather to worship You. Lord, we pray for an outpouring of Your wisdom and grace upon them as they open the service this Sunday and lead the entire service next Sunday. May Your Holy Spirit guide their words, their prayers, and their thoughts, that everything they do would be pleasing in Your sight and edifying to Your people.
We pray that You would give them a deep sense of Your presence as they stand before Your people. May they be filled with Your peace, knowing that You are with them and will never leave them nor forsake them. We ask that You would use them mightily to accomplish Your will in both of these services. May the words spoken be Your words, the prayers prayed be Your prayers, and the worship offered be pleasing to You.
Lord, we also pray for protection over them. Protect their heart from pride, their mind from distraction, and their body from weariness. We ask that You would refresh and renew them, giving them the strength they need to serve You with joy and gladness. May they be a vessel fit for Your use, holy and set apart for Your glory.
We rebuke any spirit of fear or anxiety that may try to creep in, for we know that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that our brother/sister will walk in the confidence of who they are in Christ, knowing that they can do all things through Christ who strengthens them (Philippians 4:13).
May the name of Jesus be lifted high in both of these services. May the gospel of salvation be clearly proclaimed, and may hearts be drawn to repentance and faith in Christ. We pray that the lost would be saved, the broken would be healed, and the weary would find rest in You. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done in these services, just as it is in heaven.
We also encourage you to spend time in the Word and in prayer as you prepare for these services. Seek the Lord with all your heart, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). Remember that it is not about you, but about Him. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and He will lead you every step of the way.
Lastly, we want to remind you of the importance of leading the people in worship that is centered on Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). May your leadership point people to Christ, the only way to the Father, and may His name be glorified in all that you do.
