Heart broken but I understand.

Lord Jesus thank you for another day of life you have given me. Thank you for your mercy and grace and for the many blessings this day has in store for me. But today also lord held heart break in it. Lord I prayed for your will to be done with me and someone I cared for alot. I prayed long and hard. Today Lord I found out some things about her. I can't be with her. I believe it is a sign from you. She is not meant for me. As heart breaking as it is. I must move on. Maybe someday Lord I'll find someone. Maybe someday Lord Jesus you will send the right one to me. But it wasn't her. Yes I still like her. But no I can't be with her. Lord heal my broken heart. I thank you in Jesus name amen.

We join you in thanking our Lord Jesus for another day of life and for His mercy and grace that are new every morning, and we also join you in your heartbreak while we praise God for the maturity and faith you have shown in praying for His will to be done and in being willing to accept His answer even when it hurts.

It is a mark of spiritual growth to bring a relationship before the Lord and to surrender it to Him, and to step away when He makes it clear that it is not His will. We commend you for choosing obedience over emotion, for recognizing that what you learned is a sign to move forward, and for still giving thanks in the midst of disappointment. The Lord sees this sacrifice and honors a heart that seeks Him first.

We pray that you will continue to guard your heart and to seek a godly marriage as God intends, a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and that any courtship you pursue will be with the goal of marrying another Christian believer who loves the Lord and walks in His ways. For what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity, or what communion has light with darkness, 2 Corinthians 6:14. To be equally yoked in Christ is essential, and when that foundation is missing, the most loving thing is to walk away, even while feelings remain. We encourage you not to dwell on what might have been or to harbor lingering attachment that could hinder healing, but to entrust both yourself and this young woman to the Lord, asking Him to work in both of your lives according to His perfect plan.

We are reminded of His promises for the brokenhearted. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, Psalm 34:18. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight, Proverbs 3:5-6. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future, Jeremiah 29:11. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, Romans 8:28.

We rejoice that you prayed in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved and heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. Continue to abide in Him, to delight yourself in Him, and He will shape your desires according to His will. Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart, Psalm 37:4.

We pray together now for you.

Father in heaven, we thank You for this brother who comes to You with a thankful heart even in pain. We thank You for his willingness to seek Your will above his own desires. Lord, we ask You to heal his broken heart and bind up his wounds. Comfort him with Your nearness and fill the ache with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help him to release fully what was not meant for him and to not look back with longing, but to look forward with hope. Guard his heart and his mind in Christ Jesus and keep him pure in thought and conduct as he waits on You. If it is Your will, in Your perfect timing, bring into his life a godly wife, a woman who loves You with all her heart, who will be a faithful helper and companion in marriage for Your glory. Teach him to be the godly husband You have called him to be, growing in faith, patience, and love while he waits. Let him trust Your path and know that Your plans for him are good. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

Thank you for sharing this so openly. We hear both thankfulness and real sorrow in your words, and it takes strength to hold them together and to choose to step away when you still care for ###.

Wanting God's will even when it hurts is not easy, and we want to honor the clarity and self control you showed in listening to what you learned and deciding to move forward. It is normal for feelings to linger for a while even when the decision is settled. Be gentle with yourself in that tension.

One thing that often helps in these weeks is to keep a simple steady rhythm and not walk through it alone. Stay close to a trusted friend or pastor who can check in with you, keep your regular time with the Lord and in community, and give yourself space from following her updates while your heart steadies.

We are praying for you and we will keep holding this before the Lord.

Father, thank You for this brother and for his desire to honor You. Comfort his heart in this disappointment, heal the ache in Your time, and give him wisdom and peace as he moves forward. Keep him close to You each day and guide his steps. In Jesus name, amen.

Your prayer breathes a spirit which rejoices my heart, for in it I hear submission to the will of Him who is King. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, and the great heart of providence sending its pulsings through even the most distant limbs of human act, so you have done well to bow before it and say, let His will be done. It is consistent with the experience of all God's people that salvation and all our preservation rests upon His will, and the work of the Spirit is to change the human will and make men willing in the day of God's power. To pray long and hard and then to accept His answer, though it cost you tears, is grace indeed.

There is a great calamity in a broken heart, and yet very closely allied to it is one of the greatest spiritual blessings, for the Lord has come to bind up the broken hearted. You are brought down very low, but you will get up yet. Best of all, as the Healer of broken hearts, God has chosen One whose own heart was broken. Jesus died of a broken heart that your heart might not be utterly crushed. Bring your poor broken heart to the heart that was once pierced by the soldier's spear and find sweetest rest there. He knows what heartbreak means, and He is able to heal with a touch which no other can give. I believe you will yet take down your harp from the willows and rejoice again, not because the sorrow was small, but because the Physician is great.

What time you are afraid, trust in Him. Do not trust in yourself, for that is to trust a broken reed, but renew your trust in Christ. He who feeds the ravens will feed your soul with daily bread, and He will preserve you. When God's law is written in the heart, that heart becomes His own royal property, and though temptation and sorrow may assail you, you shall not give way, for He will keep His covenant with you forever. Let His law be loved and let it control the whole man, so that you delight to practice it with the outward life as well as the inward man, and daily strive to make your entire life according to His will.

You have acted wisely not to say as the world says, we will do as we like, we will love whom we will and gain what we desire, without asking God's consent. There is a revealed will which we must not violate, and you have honored it by stepping away when you saw that to continue would not be according to His holy way. If the Lord should be pleased in His mercy to give you another, may it be in His own time and according to His own heart, and may it be within that lifelong covenant of one man and one woman which He ordained from the beginning, where love is kept pure and chaste as belonging within it. Wait upon Him, and let your best profit be the doing of His will.

I pray for you that the Lord will heal your broken heart, that He will write His law more deeply upon it, that He will keep you from bitterness and preserve you in holiness, and that you will find your first and fullest comfort in salvation through Jesus Christ alone, whose blood alone can cleanse and whose love alone can satisfy. May His heart, which is constant in affection and does not cast away His children, be the source of all your blessing, and may you be kept in His ways until He brings you to Himself at the last.
