Heart broken but I understand.

Your prayer has been heard, and I thank God for the humility and trust you have shown in it. You gave thanks for life and for mercy even while your heart was hurting, and you asked above all for His will to be done. That is the right foundation, and the Lord does not overlook it.

Scripture says a broken and contrite heart God will not despise. You come with that kind of heart now, not rising up in anger or demanding your own way, but quietly bringing your sorrow to Him and accepting His guidance even when it costs you. That contrition is precious to Him. He sees the pain of love disappointed. Even the strongest souls feel the crushing weight of tears when love is involved, for love has great power. Your sorrow is not a sign that you have failed, but that you loved sincerely and now are choosing to walk in obedience.

You did well to pray long and hard and to step away when you saw that this path was not right for you. To still have affection and yet say I cannot continue because it is not God's will is an act of gentle forbearance and self control that guards both you and the other person. God honors that clarity. Continue to watch and be sober and to keep your heart armed with His Word. When you dwell on His promises and let His law be written on your heart, you will have calm even in the midst of this storm.

Jesus invites those who are weary and heavy laden to take His yoke upon them and learn from Him, for He is meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Bring this brokenness to Him daily, not only in words spoken aloud but in the quiet prayers of the heart as you walk through your day. He hears the cry that no one else hears.

I will pray for you. Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for this brother who seeks Your will above his own desires. Thank You for Your mercy and grace over his life. Heal his broken heart, give him peace that guards his mind, and keep him close to You in this season of letting go. Teach him to rest in Your easy yoke and to trust Your perfect timing. If it is Your will, in Your time lead him to a godly marriage, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman lived according to Your design, and until then keep him pure, hopeful, and steadfast in faith. Let him grow through this sorrow and find his joy and completeness in You alone. Amen.

Your honesty before the Lord in this painful moment is honoring to Him. You prayed for His will to be done, and you are willing to walk in it even when it hurts, and that matters deeply to God.

The Lord is near to those who are brokenhearted and He saves those who come to Him with a humble and contrite spirit. When your heart is broken over what could not be, He does not stand far off. He draws close. Bring Him your grief and sorrow just as you have, pouring it out without holding back. He sees what is in the heart, more than lips or outward appearance, and He cares about what is happening inside you.

Scripture tells us to guard our hearts with all diligence, because from the heart flow the issues of life. Part of guarding your heart now is what you are already doing, asking God to search you and know you, to try your thoughts and motives. Our own hearts can be deceitful and confused, and we cannot always sort out our feelings on our own. But God can do an inward work that we cannot do for ourselves. He promises to give a new heart, to circumcise the heart so that we love Him fully, to change us from the inside out. That is not outward religion but a real transformation within.

You asked Him to reveal His will, and He is answering. One way He reveals His will is by working in us both to desire and to do what pleases Him. He places His desires within us and then gives us the ability to walk in them, so that doing His will becomes our own deep desire and even our joy. As you surrendered this relationship to Him, He has made it clear that this is not His path for you, and He has given you the willingness to step away even though you still have feelings. That willingness itself is evidence of His Spirit working in you.

It is right to step away when you have learned things that show you cannot build a life together before the Lord. Continuing to like someone while choosing obedience is painful, and healing will take time. Do not rush it or try to cover the hurt with distraction. Bring the brokenness to Jesus, whose body was broken for you. Through His suffering He made a way for both spiritual and physical healing, and for the healing of a wounded heart.

Ask Him now to heal your heart, to cleanse and renew it, and in His time to plant His desires there for the future. You do not need to strive to make the next step happen. Rest in His care, keep walking with Him day by day, and trust Him to lead you. If it is His will to bring the right person into your life, a marriage of one man and one woman for life as He designed, He will make that clear and He will prepare both hearts. Until then, let Him be the one who satisfies and shapes your heart.

Father, I pray for this dear one who is hurting. Thank You for his honest and surrendered heart. You see his sorrow and You are near. Heal his broken heart, comfort him, and do Your deep work within him. Search him and know him, renew his heart, and work in him to will and to do Your good pleasure. Give him peace as he trusts Your will above his own feelings, and lead him step by step in Your perfect way. In the name of Jesus, amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer during this painful and tender time.

We were deeply moved by your honest heart as you thanked the Lord Jesus for another day of life and for His mercy and grace even while walking through heartbreak. We were honored to stand with you as you prayed long and hard for His will to be done concerning you and this young woman you cared for so much, and we admire your maturity and faith to recognize His answer and accept that she is not meant for you even though you still have feelings for her. We understand how difficult it is to let go and choose obedience when your heart still cares, and we have continued to bring your broken heart before the Lord asking Him to bring healing and to lead you forward.

We pray together for you now in Jesus Name that the Lord will draw close to you and heal your broken heart and give you peace as you move on. His Word reminds us in Psalm 34:18 that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and in Psalm 147:3 that He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. We pray that He will comfort you, renew your strength, guard your heart from bitterness, and in His perfect timing send the right one He has prepared for you according to His will.

If your request was answered and the Lord has brought healing and peace to your heart, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered and your heart is still hurting, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus Name, amen.

I feel like I just need to post this. I'm angry and hurt at the church I use to attend for prayer. But in this second season, I felt judged and condemned, and a few saw how I was being treated. The female pastor even said "she was tired of praying for me because there was no change", but it was...
