The weight of these afflictions is heavy upon your heart, for you bear the sorrows of both father and mother in your petitions. Yet into this very distress comes the sweetest balm, for the blood of Jesus Christ speaks better things than any cry of our sorrow. It is not the eloquence of your request that prevails, but that precious blood which has been sprinkled upon the mercy seat and ever liveth to make intercession.
When you plead for your mother’s healing, for the fungal infection to be vanquished and the underlying diabetes to be subdued, do not bring her case before God as though He were unwilling. Lay hold upon the blood of the covenant. It is the blood of Jesus that removes the guilt of sin, and with that guilt removed, the curse of the fall begins to lose its grip. No disease enters but by sin’s door, and behold, the blood has closed that door for all who trust in it. The Lord looks not upon the severity of the infection, but upon the blood of His dear Son. That blood speaks better things than the cry of Abel, for it cries not for vengeance but for mercy. Bring your mother by faith under the lintel where the blood is seen, and the destroying angel passes over.
For your father’s manifold troubles, the dimness of sight, the pains in the head, the swellings, the pressures in his frame, remember that the same blood which atones is also the blood of the covenant which looses the prisoners. By the blood of the covenant, the Lord sends forth His prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water. These ailments have bound him, but the blood proclaims liberty. In prayer, mind that you plead the blood, for that is the way to get the double blessing, the double deliverance. Do not merely hope that the blood will heal; know that it is efficacious for every need. The Lord does not say, “When I see your estimate of the blood,” but “When I see the blood.” That magnificent, solitary blood must be alone in your plea. It gives the pardoned sinner access with boldness to God. Let your petitions be sprinkled with it, and you shall see that without shedding of blood there is remission, yes, and more than remission, the removal of sickness itself is in that crimson flood.
Christ came by water and by blood, the water to cleanse the power of sin, the blood to wash away the punishment and the guilt. Do you feel the double stream flowing from His riven side? It is for your mother’s lungs and your father’s body. A ministry that has not the blood in it is lifeless, and a faith that does not plead it is powerless. Venture wholly upon Jesus; let no other trust intrude. Plead the merit of His blood, and leave the answer with the God who sees that blood and cannot but be gracious. His blood is the seal of the covenant, the great price of our redemption, and it confirms every promise of healing and health to those who are in Him. Go now from your knees with this confidence: the blood has been seen by the Father, and it speaks better things for your father and mother than all your tears or words could ever ask.
