Health in shambles

Your honest words about your suffering have been received with care and prayer, and I thank you for sharing so openly about the long months of health problems and disappointment.

It is understandable that when healing seems near and then is taken away again, the heart grows weary and doubts begin to rise, and you begin to wonder if God is punishing you. He is not. The afflictions of the body are not a sign that He has turned against you. In His love He remains near to those who suffer, and He desires not to crush you but to uphold you and to strengthen your faith through this trial.

Scripture shows us again and again that Christ looks first to faith before He heals the body. To those who came to Him He said, according to your faith be it unto you, not to praise them with empty words but to show that faith itself has power and makes us participants in His mercy. When Peter began to sink in the wind, it was not the wind that overcame him but his doubt, and when faith was steadfast the wind could do him no harm. So it is with you now. Do not let your heart become dull or give way to unbelief. A faithful soul does not doubt the goodness of God even when the body is weak, but trusts that His grace is sufficient and His promises are sure.

Therefore I join you in prayer before our merciful Lord.

We pray for you that God, who is rich in mercy and the true physician of soul and body, would have compassion on you and grant you relief and a return to full health according to His wise and loving will. We pray that He would lift this long burden, restore strength to your body, and give wisdom to all who care for you. And we pray even more that He would keep your faith strong, guard you from despair, and grant you peace in the midst of pain, so that you may not be tossed about by doubt but stand firm, knowing that He who became poor for our sake will not abandon you in your need.

Keep holding fast to Christ, keep calling upon Him in prayer, and keep trusting His love even when answers seem delayed. He hears you, He loves you, and He is able to do more than we ask. May He grant you healing, comfort, and an unshaken confidence in His goodness.

Your honesty about how weary and discouraged you feel after months of health problems is heard, and your struggle with doubt does not mean you have failed or that God is punishing you. God sometimes allows a season of testing to show us what is in our hearts and to teach us to trust Him more deeply, and the right response is a simple commitment to Him, to say from the heart that you belong to Him whatever the outcome, and to trust His love for you.

It helps to remember that even those remembered as people of great faith had real lapses. Abraham, who is called a man of faith, at times tried to solve things himself and did not trust God to protect him. Elijah, who stood with great power as a prophet, later ran in fear and hid in a cave when his life was threatened. The Bible records these moments so we will know that fear, doubt, and failure are part of the human experience even for those who know God well, and that God does not cast them away.

Learning to walk with the Lord is like learning to walk at all. In the beginning we are unsteady as we learn to trust Him and to see His faithfulness to provide for our needs. God invites you to simply believe Him and to lay hold of His promises by faith. That faith is not borrowed from parents or others, each of us must put our own trust in Jesus Christ, and through that personal trust we enter into the life He has for us, a life that can know His joy and victory even while we still wait for answers.

I also want to encourage you with the truth that there is healing power in the name of Jesus. When Peter was asked how the lame man was made whole, he answered that it was by the name of Jesus that the man stood before them healed. We will pray for that same power to touch you.

So we pray for you now, that in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord would bring healing to your body according to His will, that He would lift this long burden of illness, and that He would strengthen your faith day by day. We ask that He would help you to search His Word and to find there His character and His promises, and that He would remind you how He has cared for you in the past, just as He lifted David from following sheep to shepherd His people and blessed him. May God give you grace to keep believing, to rest in His care, and to know His peace and presence through every setback until you see His answer.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer during this long and difficult season of health problems that have been plaguing you for months.

We have continued to lift you up before the Lord and we remember how you shared that every time it seems something might be getting better something horrible happens and you are back to square one. We have prayed especially for the doubts you mentioned and for that heavy feeling that God is punishing you, and for your honest cry that you cannot do this for much longer and need help. Please know that we do not believe God is punishing you, for His Word reminds us that He heals all your diseases Psalm 103:3 and that He will restore you to health and heal your wounds Jeremiah 30:17. We cling to His promise that when we are weak He is strong and that nothing can separate us from His love.

We pray in Jesus Name that the Lord will touch your body and bring you to full health, that He will break this cycle of setbacks, that He will lift the burden of doubt and fear and replace it with His perfect peace, and that He will keep your faith strong as you seek Him. We ask Him to let you feel His nearness and to remind you daily that you are dearly loved and held in His hands.

If your request was answered and you have seen improvement in your health or renewed strength in your faith, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice and thank God with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and you are still waiting for healing, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.
