Thank you for sharing this request about your mother. We are joining you in prayer that her checkup will go well and we are asking the Lord to give you both peace as you wait for the results.
One of the greetings we find in the New Testament is grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. That is our prayer for you and for your mother now. There is also that personal wish written to a beloved friend named Gaius, that he would prosper and be in health even as his soul prospers. It is not presented as a guarantee that every believer will always be well, but it is a beautiful and biblical wish from a caring heart to a loved one, much like the way we say we hope a letter finds someone in good health. In that same spirit we share that wish for your mother, that the Lord would grant her health and strength and that all would be well in this examination.
We also pray for the peace that only Jesus gives. First we need peace with God, which comes only through the blood of Jesus who made peace for us on the cross. When we have peace with God, we can then know the peace of God in our hearts. The Scripture says God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, and that the peace of Christ passes all understanding and guards our hearts and minds. While you wait, keep your thoughts turned toward Him and trust that He cares for your mother and for you. He is not distant from those who call on Him, whether far off or near, and He offers His peace and restoration to those who come to Him.
We believe that God is able to heal and that healing is for today. At the same time we do not fully understand why He works in different ways at different times. Sometimes healing is instant, sometimes it is gradual, and sometimes He works through the natural processes He Himself created in our bodies, which are no less from His hand. We do not confine Him to one pattern, but we trust His wisdom and mercy in every case.
So we pray for your mother now. Father, we thank You for Your grace and mercy. We bring this dear mother before You as she goes to the doctor. We ask that You would give skill and discernment to those who examine her, that the results would be encouraging, and that You would grant her health and strength according to Your will. Above all we pray that she and her family would know Your peace, that their minds would be stayed on You, and that they would rest in the forgiveness and love found only in Jesus Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who bore our sins and by whose wounds we are healed. Amen.
