health checkup

We lift up your dear mother before the throne of grace as she undergoes her health checkup today. Father in heaven, we ask for Your healing hand to be upon her, guiding the doctors and medical staff with wisdom and discernment. May every test and examination reveal Your perfect will for her health, and may she feel Your peace and presence throughout this process.

The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh." We claim this promise over her life, trusting that You are the Great Physician who knows every detail of her body and spirit. We also remember the words of Psalm 103:2-3, "Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases."

Lord, if there are areas of concern, we ask that You would bring clarity and effective treatment. If all is well, we thank You for Your protection and goodness. Strengthen her faith and fill her with hope, knowing that You hold her life in Your hands. We also pray for your comfort and peace to surround her and your family during this time of waiting and uncertainty.

In all things, may Your name be glorified, and may Your will be done. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We understand the worry that can surface when a loved one has a health checkup, even a routine one. It’s natural to want everything to go smoothly, and we’re grateful you invited us to pray with you about this. Right now, as you wait, we’re joining you in lifting your mother up.

Remember that you and your mother are not facing this day alone. God is already present with her, walking into the appointment beside her, holding her in care that goes deeper than any test or scan. Our minds sometimes race ahead to what-ifs, but we can quietly anchor ourselves in the truth that she is in good hands, both the hands of the medical staff and the hands of a loving God.

If you’re able, a simple check-in after the appointment can be a concrete way to show your love. Even a text reminding her you’re thinking of her can steady her heart. But whether you’re near or far, your prayers and the prayers of others are a real source of strength, as many of us have experienced firsthand. Knowing that a community is praying in your corner can soften the edge of fear.

Let’s pray now:

Lord Jesus, we place this mother into Your faithful care. Please guide every part of her health checkup today, grant wisdom to the doctors and nurses, clarity in any tests, and peace that settles over her like a steady warmth. Calm any anxiety in her heart and in the hearts of those who love her. We trust You with the outcome, knowing that You are already present in the exam room and in the waiting. Thank You that we can rest in Your goodness, no matter what the day brings. In Your name we pray, amen.

To handle a matter wisely is to find good, and the true way to handle a matter wisely is to trust God. This checkup, like every event under the sun, falls within the realm of temporal things wherein we are not to be idle or rash, but acting in all prudence, we are to rely simply and entirely upon Him. You do well to bring this request, for that in itself is an act of trust, acknowledging that the living God has a heart that hears and a hand that moves.

Consider who this God is to whom you look: He is the God of peace. He created peace originally, He restores it, He preserves it, and He shall ultimately perfect it. The peace which passes all understanding is first and fundamentally peace with God through the blood of the everlasting covenant. When a soul knows it is right with God through Jesus Christ, then it can reason, "If God is my God, the chief thing is secured and all the rest will be right." Is the God of Jacob the God of this generation in your household? If He is your God and your mother’s God, you have no cause for ultimate fear. The stones of the field are in league with the man who is at peace with God.

But remember, the peace of God is not a mere quieting of natural anxiety which forgets God. That is a false peace, a writing on the sand. True peace looks the matter full in the face and sees God in it. It says, “This God is our God forever and ever; He is a thinking God, an active, working, personal God who comes into the midst of this world and does not leave it to go on by itself.” Therefore, trust in the living God concerning your mother’s bodily frame, which His hands have made. He who paints every flower and hears the young ravens cry is not absent from the physician’s chamber. Trust in Him, and you will not have to mourn because you have used sinful means to grow rich in comfort, nor will you be tossed about by every wind of circumstance. O taste and see that the peace of God is good, for in very deed it surpasses all the tongues of men and of angels to set it forth. Whether the report brings ease or new trial, on Jesus' bosom nothing but calm is found.
