We join you with tender hearts in lifting up your precious grandson before our Heavenly Father and we count it a privilege to stand with your family on the eve of this surgery to untether his spinal cord.
We pray for the hands and minds of the surgical team tomorrow morning, that God would grant them supernatural wisdom, steadiness and precision. We ask the Lord to guide every decision and every movement, that there would be no complications, no leaking of spinal fluid, and that his little body would be kept safe through the procedure and through those long hours of stillness afterward. We pray for complete healing in every area that has been affected, his bowel and bladder functions, his walking, his back, his feet, and every nerve and muscle, that the Lord would restore what has been hindered and that no future surgery would be needed.
We are reminded of the compassion of our God who cares deeply for children. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. And Jeremiah 30:17 declares But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We cling to the promise in James 5:15 that the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. We also pray for that supernatural peace that only God can give to you, to his parents, and to all who love him as you wait and as he recovers. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. May that guarding peace fill your home tonight and in the days to come. Isaiah 41:10 also comforts us, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
We notice your request speaks of God and prayer but does not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share why we always come to the Father in Jesus name. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and it is only through Him that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 reminds us There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is because of what Jesus did for us on the cross and through His resurrection that we can boldly bring your grandson to the throne of grace and know that God hears us. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust fully in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We lift up this little boy to You, You formed him and You know every detail of his spine, his nerves, his body. We ask You to be present in that operating room tomorrow, to give wisdom to every doctor and nurse, to let this untethering be complete and successful, to protect him from any infection, bleeding, or complication, and to keep his spinal fluid where it should be. We ask for Your healing touch upon his bowel and bladder, upon his legs and feet and back, that he would walk and grow and thrive in the strength You provide. Grant him grace to rest still in those critical hours after surgery and grant his family strength to comfort him. Pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding over his parents, his grandparents, and all who are keeping vigil. Let Your presence be felt so clearly that fear is quieted. We ask for a testimony of complete healing that brings glory to You alone. We pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Healer, amen.
