Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart and trusting us to pray for your son. We join you in asking the Father for His healing, His strength, and His peace over him, in the name of Jesus.
We pray that God would touch your son in every part of his being, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Scripture shows us that these are deeply connected. The health of the soul and the health of the body and mind affect one another, and God cares for the whole person. We often are diligent to care for physical needs, but the spiritual life needs that same daily nourishment. Our prayer is that as your son is strengthened spiritually, he would also know renewal in his body and mind.
The Bible speaks of healing through the suffering of Christ, that the chastisement for our peace was upon Him and by His wounds we are healed. The Gospel shows Jesus applying that healing to physical bodies as well as to the soul. Every healing, whether sudden or gradual, is from the Lord, for He built healing processes into our bodies. There is much we do not fully understand about why healing comes in different ways and different times, but we do know that God hears prayer, that He is compassionate, and that we can trust Him to do what is right and loving.
We also pray for strength. Apart from Him we have no strength of our own, but the Lord Himself is the strength of His people. He is our light and salvation, our shield and helper. When our strength fails, we can go forward in the strength of the Lord. We ask that God would be your son's strength today, sustaining him and upholding him, and that He would be your strength as you love and care for him.
And we pray for peace. There are two kinds of peace the Bible speaks about. First, there is peace with God, which only comes through the blood of Jesus Christ. When we are forgiven and reconciled to God through Him, the war is over. Then there is the peace of God, that perfect peace that guards the heart and mind and passes all human understanding. It comes as we trust in the Lord and keep our minds stayed on Him, confident that He is in control and that He has ordained peace for His children.
So we pray that your son would know both, peace with God through faith in Jesus, and the deep, steady peace of God in his heart, even in the midst of turmoil. May the Lord keep him in perfect peace as he trusts in Him, and may the Lord bless him with peace and give him strength.
Father, we lift this son to You. You see his body, his mind, and his spirit. Lay Your healing hand upon him and renew him. Be his strength when he is weak and his peace when he is troubled. Draw him close to Jesus, in whom alone we have forgiveness and life, and fill his heart with the assurance that You are with him and You are working for his good. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only hope and our peace. Amen.
