We join our hearts with yours in thanksgiving to our Father for His blessings, and in earnest prayer for your dear son. How good it is to bring his every need before the throne of grace, asking for that complete healing which only the Lord can give.
There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing virtue. It is written, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed. He is our heavenly Physician who takes our sicknesses upon Himself, and who can breathe into the soul at this very moment a peace with God which passes all understanding, springing from the perfect remission of sin. We pray that your son may know this healing in body and in mind, and above all in his spirit, for when the soul is pardoned and cleansed, a wonderful inward peace steals over the whole man.
You ask also for renewed strength, and the Word gives us the sure promise, They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Human strength, even at its best, will spend itself and fail, for all strength apart from God is but derived strength. But He gives power to the faint, and to them that have no might He increases strength. To be strengthened with strength in the Lord is the most desirable of all things, and God Himself declares, I will strengthen them. Therefore we pray that your son, and you who love him, may wait upon the Lord, and find your strength restored as one who has been bathed in cool water and rises quite another man, baptized anew into the Spirit of God.
And you seek restored peace. The promise stands, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusts in Thee. That perfect peace is a present possession, even in this dark world of sin, for the blood of Jesus whispers peace within. It is a peace that may be enjoyed amid thronging duties and pressing sorrows, for to do the will of Jesus is rest, and to bear our sorrow with Him is to enjoy perfect peace even with sorrows surging round. May the Lord keep your son's mind stayed upon Christ, and keep your own heart also in that same peace.
Let us pray together. O Lord our God, we thank Thee for Thy daily blessings and for Thy mercy which endures forever. Look in compassion upon this dear son. Lay Thy healing hand upon him. Heal him physically, mentally, and spiritually, according to Thy good will. Renew his strength as he waits upon Thee, and restore unto him the joy of Thy salvation and perfect peace through the blood of Jesus. Grant to his parent also strength for each day and a quiet confidence that Thou doest all things well. When all our own strength fails us, be Thou our arm every morning and our salvation in the time of trouble. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our strength and righteousness, our healer and our peace. Amen.
