We join you in lifting up your precious son before the throne of grace and we thank you for bringing his need for healing, protection and peaceful sleep to us so we can seek God's will together in Jesus' name.
Our hearts are moved by your love for your son and by the burden he carries from PTSD and nightmares. We know that our God sees his suffering and is near to him in his distress. Scripture reminds us that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18 and that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. We cling to the promise that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7 and we pray that this truth would replace fear and torment in his mind.
We also take comfort that the Lord is our protector and keeper through the night. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways Psalm 91:11. We ask the Father to surround your son with His holy angels and to shield him from all harm, evil and danger as you have prayed. We pray for the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, to guard his heart and his thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7, especially as he sleeps. We claim the promise that in peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety Psalm 4:8. And we remember the word, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.
We pray together now.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and we lift up this beloved son to You. Lord, You know the trauma he has endured and the nightmares that disturb his sleep. We ask for Your healing hand upon his mind, body and spirit. Comfort him as only You can, quiet the memories that torment him, and fill his dreams with Your love and light. Lord, surround him with Your holy angels, place a hedge of protection around him, and let no weapon formed against him prosper. Grant him deep, restful, uninterrupted sleep and renew his strength each morning. Let him feel Your presence beside him through the night and know that he is safe in Your arms. Give his family also Your peace and endurance as they support him, and guide them to wise and godly counsel and help that will point him continually to You. We thank You that You are our refuge and healer and that even in this battle, You are working for his good. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to speak Scripture over him before he sleeps, to pray aloud with him when possible, and to gently point him to the comfort of God's Word day and night. Keep bringing him before the Lord without ceasing, trusting that the One who watches over Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps is watching over your son.
