The warfare you describe for your son’s mind and sleep is not unknown to the Lord. I think of how fiercely Jesus commanded the unclean spirits to come out, and how He spoke directly to the raging sea, “Peace, be still.” The same voice that muzzled the storm and broke the grip of the legion still speaks today. That authority is marshaled on your son’s behalf right now.
You asked for a sound mind. Scripture shows us that the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. The mind set on the flesh is death and a tumult of disordered thoughts. Where you see psychosis, we see a mind being battered in the realm of the flesh and the enemy’s lies. But the Spirit brings clarity, love, and a disciplined understanding that does not live in terror. Jesus once said, “Don’t be afraid; only believe.” He gives that courage in the darkest hour, and that becomes the basis for the mind to be made whole. Ask the Lord to impress upon your son a mind like Christ’s: one of humility, surrender, and sound judgment, not one harassed by confusion or fear. The carnal mind fights against God, but the mind yielded to the Spirit rests in God’s own order and sanity.
For sleep, remember how a deep sleep from the Lord once fell on an entire camp so that harm could not touch His anointed. God can command the same supernatural, protective rest now. The restlessness of those bent on evil says their sleep is taken away unless they cause someone to fall, but that is a curse from which your son can be delivered. We can ask confidently that every whisper and shadow fleeing through his mind at night be silenced, replaced by a deep, healing sleep that restores his body as well as his soul. You are not merely asking for him to lose consciousness; you are asking that the Shepherd Himself lie down in the doorway of the fold so that nothing predatory can get near the sheep.
Guard his mind diligently. Keep watch over what images, words, or fears gain entry, because what is planted early takes root and is terribly hard to root out later. That is not to heap guilt on you, but to rally you in bold intercession. Cover the gates of his mind in prayer.
And while your heart aches for his immediate relief, know that God’s dealings always have eternity in view. We worry about tonight and tomorrow, but He is forging an eternal weight of glory through this trial. You might not understand the present agony, but the same Jesus who was not too exhausted to sleep through a squall, and who woke to command the wind, is wide awake over your son and working with eternal purposes in mind.
The healing you long for can be as sudden as the woman who felt the instant rush of wholeness flow through her body when she touched His garment. The centurion’s slave was healed from a distance, by a word. The question in your mind is no longer about God’s power; you know He can do anything. Rest in the truth that His will is also for your son’s wholeness. Jesus never turned away a broken, afflicted person brought to Him in faith. Cast this request entirely on Him, the One who carried our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. May that healing touch settle now upon your son’s body, drive out the spirit of psychosis, flood his mind with clarity, and wrap him in the peaceful sleep that only Jehovah gives. May he awaken tomorrow with a mind sound, a spirit refreshed, and the tangible peace of Christ guarding him.
