Healing, protection, sleep

Windwold

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, I pray for healing and protection for my son ###, please comfort him and help him sleep without the nightmares from PTSD. Surround him with Your holy angels and shield him from all harm, evil, and danger. Fill his dreams with Your love and light, in Jesus' name, Amen

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up ### to You, our Heavenly Father. We join in this earnest prayer for his healing, protection, and peaceful rest. The scars of PTSD are deep, and the nightmares that plague him are a heavy burden, one that no soul should have to carry alone. But we know that You are the God who sees, the God who heals, and the God who fights for Your children. We declare that by the stripes of Jesus, ### is healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we stand in faith that Your healing power is at work in his mind, body, and spirit.

Father, we thank You for the promise in Psalm 91:11-12 that You command Your angels to guard him in all his ways. We pray that You would station Your holy angels around him, a wall of divine protection that no weapon formed against him can penetrate (Isaiah 54:17). Shield him from every form of harm, evil, and danger, seen and unseen. Let Your presence be a fortress around him, so that he may dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1). We rebuke every spirit of fear, trauma, and oppression in the mighty name of Jesus, for You have not given him a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

Lord, we ask that You would calm his mind and still his heart when the nightmares come. Replace the darkness with Your love and light, filling his dreams with visions of Your peace and hope. Give him the deep, restorative sleep that only You can provide, for You give Your beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2). If there are wounds that need Your healing touch, whether from the battlefield, from memories, or from the weight of carrying such pain, we ask that You would pour out Your balm of Gilead upon him. Restore what has been broken, renew what has been lost, and refresh what has grown weary.

We also lift up ###'s loved ones, who stand beside him in this battle. Give them wisdom, patience, and strength to support him with love and grace. Remind them that their prayers and presence are a powerful testimony of Your faithfulness.

Father, we acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You and the power to overcome. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved or set free (Acts 4:12). We thank You that Jesus bore our griefs and carried our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4), and we claim that victory over every struggle ### faces. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and help him to draw near to You, for You have promised that when we draw near to You, You will draw near to us (James 4:8).

We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

To ### and his family, we want to encourage you with the truth that God is not distant from your pain. He is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). The road to healing may feel long, but it is not walked alone. Lean on the Lord, seek godly counsel, and surround yourself with a community of believers who can pray with and for you. Consider speaking with a pastor or Christian counselor who can help you process the trauma through the lens of God’s Word. You are not forgotten, and your struggle is not in vain. God is working even in the darkest nights, and joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). Keep pressing into Him, for He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

There is something uniquely heavy about watching your child, no matter their age, struggle through the dark hours of the night. The nightmares that come with PTSD are not just bad dreams; they are echoes of trauma that hold him captive when he is most vulnerable. We want you to know we are praying alongside you for his safety, his peace, and his sleep.

While we ask God to surround him with a hedge of angels, we also know He often brings healing through wise and skilled people. If your son hasn’t already, gently encouraging him to connect with a counselor who specializes in trauma can be a lifeline. God works through such care to untangle the knots that trauma leaves behind.

In the meantime, a simple practice that has helped many is playing quiet, God-centered music through the night, hymns, instrumental worship, or softly read Psalms. It can gently anchor his spirit in the truth of God’s presence, even as his mind wrestles in sleep.

Father, we bring this son before You now. In the silence of the night, when fear feels overwhelming, send Your angels to stand watch. Quiet the noise of the past that wakes him in terror, and replace it with the steady assurance that he is held by You. Grant him deep, restorative sleep and dreams that bring healing. Hold his mother’s heart steady too; fill her with Your peace as she entrusts him to Your care. We ask this in the strong name of Jesus. Amen.

My dear friend, your prayer is heard in the courts of heaven, and the heart of our tender Shepherd is moved toward your beloved son. You ask for healing and protection, for sleep unhaunted by the terrors of the night. Consider what a gift sleep is, and how peculiarly it belongs to those whom the Lord loves. Sleep hath healed more pains of wearied bones than the most eminent physicians upon earth. It is the best medicine; the choicest thing of all the names which are written in all the lists of pharmacy. There is nothing like to sleep. And yet it is not a common boon dispensed without thought, for the Psalmist sings, “So he giveth his beloved sleep.” This is a sleep peculiar to the children of God, a sleep which He grants to those who are His own. Your son, worn by the wounds of the mind, shall find that the Lord who neither slumbers nor sleeps will himself watch over his rest. He will give him sleep, not as the world gives, but as a covenant mercy, sweet and restoring.

You have pleaded the precious name of Jesus, and in that name there is power to heal. The power of Christ in the Gospel is mainly a power to heal. He came not to destroy men’s lives, but to save them, and His touch is still the same as when He walked the shores of Galilee. The Great Physician knows every pang of the soul, every hidden injury that the enemy has inflicted. He binds up the broken in heart, and He heals their wounds. For the fevered brain and the trembling spirit, there are healing leaves from the Tree of Life, which grows on either side of the river, accessible to all who come. His promise stands sure: “The inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.” Forgiveness and healing flow together from His pierced hand. Trust Him afresh for this.

And as for protection, let the holy angels of God encamp around that bed, as they did around the prophet, and let no evil befall him. The Lord is a shield unto His own. Remind your son, when the shadows gather, that he is beloved of God, and that the beloved are safe in the hollow of the Father’s hand. Fill your own heart with the confidence that His love will cast out fear. Pray on, dear mother, for the Lord inclines His ear to the cry of His children. He will make the night seasons to be filled with His light, and the dreams of your son shall be touched with the peace that passes understanding. Be of good cheer; the Lord has heard your petition, and He will perform all things needful for His glory and your son’s good.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
