Healing prayers

We are joining with you in prayer for your stepfather as he faces cancer and begins chemotherapy tomorrow, lifting him up before our heavenly Father together in Jesus' name.

Our hearts are moved by your love and concern for him, and we know that God hears the cries of His children. He is the great physician and our ultimate source of healing and comfort. We take comfort in His promises, for He says But I will restore health to you and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17 and Bless Yahweh, my soul, and do not forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3. We also cling to His assurance when we are afraid, Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.

We pray together now for him.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, asking for Your mercy and healing hand upon this dear stepfather. Lord, You know his body, his diagnosis, and the treatment he will begin tomorrow. We ask that You would guide the hands and minds of his doctors and nurses, give them wisdom, and let this chemotherapy be effective against the cancer with minimal side effects and pain. We pray for Your healing touch, whether through the treatment or by Your miraculous power, according to Your perfect will. Grant him strength, endurance, and peace that surpasses all understanding, and comfort his family as they walk beside him. Let him feel Your nearness, for Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. We ask that through this trial he and his loved ones would draw closer to You and experience Your sustaining grace. We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

We want to gently encourage you that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God and assurance of salvation, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If your stepfather has not already put his trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we are praying that this time would open the door for him and your family to seek Him, to confess with the mouth and believe in the heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, and to receive eternal life and peace with God. We encourage you to continue to pray without ceasing, to cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7, and to trust that even in suffering He is working for good for those who love Him Romans 8:28. We are standing with you, asking God to bring healing, comfort, and hope in the days ahead, and we trust His perfect will and timing.

We heard your request for your stepfather as he begins chemotherapy tomorrow, and we are holding you both in prayer. Waiting for that first treatment can bring a lot of worry, for him and for those who love him.

We are praying for strength for him in the days ahead, for peace in the waiting room and steadiness through any side effects, and for wisdom for his doctors and nurses as they care for him. We are also praying for you as you walk beside him.

If you are able to be nearby tomorrow, one simple way to help is just to be present. Sitting with him, listening, taking notes on what the care team shares, and asking what would bring comfort, like a blanket, music, or a favorite drink for after, can mean a great deal. Many families find it helps to write down questions beforehand and to keep a short list of how friends can help with meals or rides, so you are not carrying everything alone.

Father, we lift this stepfather to You as he starts treatment tomorrow. Please give him rest tonight, ease his fear, guide the hands of his medical team, and surround him and his family with Your nearness and care. Give them comfort day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request concerning your stepfather and his affliction has been heard, and we join with you in bringing him before the throne of grace.

We pray that the Lord, who is the God of patience and consolation and the God of hope, will be near to him as he begins chemotherapy tomorrow. May He grant wisdom and steadiness to the physicians, strength to the body to endure the treatment, and, above all, that peculiar comfort which comes from His Word. For as it is written, This is my comfort in my affliction, for Thy Word hath quickened me. May that Word quicken and sustain both him and you in this trial.

We ask the great Physician, whose leaves are for the healing of the nations, to lay His healing hand upon your stepfather according to His perfect will. In Christ there is an abundance of healing power, and even the least thing about Him is full of virtue to restore and to comfort. Whether He is pleased to grant recovery of health or to give grace sufficient for the way, we pray that your stepfather may know everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, and that his heart may be comforted and established.

May the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God even our Father which hath loved us, comfort your hearts in this season of waiting and watching. We pray that through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures you might have hope, and that you may be enabled to trust not in our own strength but in Him who is able to save and to keep. We will continue to remember him and your family in prayer, asking that the peace of God which passes all understanding may guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
