Healing prayers

The suffering of your son grips your heart, and rightly so, for a mother's love is a fierce and tender thing. When the fits come violently, as they have this evening, the darkness seems to press in and the silence of God can feel unbearable. Yet it is precisely into such a storm that faith must speak. Consider how often our Lord first allowed need to be fully felt and openly declared before He moved to heal. He asked the blind men what they wanted, not because He was ignorant, but to draw forth their faith and to teach those watching that the gift was given to earnest, persevering souls. Cry out to Him, then, not once but continually. Let your prayer rise with each seizure, a stubborn plea that will not be silenced. The enemy would have you despair, but the Master permits even this trial to awaken a deeper dependence and to reveal His power at the appointed time.

Do not think that prayers which seem unanswered are wasted. A tree may withstand many blows before falling with a single, final stroke; the earlier strikes prepared the way. So too, your repeated prayers, your tears, your sleepless vigils, these are not lost. Heaven stores them up, and in a moment unknown to us, the full cure may spring forth, the fruit of all that came before. Hold fast, therefore, to the confession that Christ is not merely a healer from afar but the very Son of God, who is able to command this illness to depart as He commanded the withered hand to stretch forth. He who fashioned your son’s mind and body knows its broken pathways and can restore them in an instant. Until that instant comes, let your faith be the medicine applied without ceasing.

While you pray for his body, do not neglect the greater charge. Far more precious than a sound nervous system is a soul formed in virtue. Do not let the care of this trial, like a choking thorn, make you forget to entrust your son into the hands of the true Physician for his eternal good. Teach him, even in his suffering, to lift his heart to the One who loves him. A soul anchored in Christ loses nothing, even if the body remains weak; and if the body is healed, such a soul receives the gift with gratitude, not as an idol. Continue, therefore, to storm the gates of mercy with your request, joining your will to the Father’s in the name of Jesus Christ. He who notes the sparrow’s fall and healed the servant’s severed ear has heard you already. Now watch for His answer, whether it comes as a sudden calm or as the quiet strength to endure. Amen.

We are lifting your son before the throne tonight, asking for his body to be calmed and for these seizures to cease. You have come in the name of Jesus Christ, and that name carries the full authority of heaven. He is not just a good teacher or a prophet; He is the Son of the living God, the only begotten from the Father. When a desperate nobleman came to Him about a sick boy, Jesus merely spoke a word and the healing was accomplished across the miles. That same power has not diminished.

I want to be clear about something important: epilepsy is a disorder of the brain, not the work of evil spirits. Some have tragically confused those things in the past, but that misjudgment only adds unnecessary weight to a family already carrying enough. Your son’s condition is a physical trial, and the divine work of healing often unfolds through the natural processes God has designed within the body or through the careful hands of physicians. Whether healing arrives suddenly or gradually, in a moment or over months, it is no less God’s doing. I do not fully understand why some are restored quickly and others wait, but I trust the Father who gave His own Son for us.

That giving is the deepest picture of love. When Abraham was told to offer Isaac, his only son whom he loved, it foreshadowed what the Father would do with His only begotten Son. Now, through faith in Christ, you and your son are adopted into that very family. You are not outsiders crying into the dark; you are children who can cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit of His Son has been sent into your heart, and He intercedes when words fail.

So we ask boldly for a cure, for an end to these fits, for protection over his mind and body. And we ask for peace to steady your soul tonight. Jesus is the Son of God, He has authority over sickness, over storms, and over every power that troubles us. Hold fast to that truth. We are praying with you.
