Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this need honestly. I am praying for you and your suffering with these migraines, and I want you to know that God does care about your physical pain.
Scripture shows us that Jesus has power over the physical realm and compassion for those who suffer in their bodies. Matthew, writing under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, quotes Isaiah and says that Jesus took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses, applying that prophecy to the physical healings Jesus did when people were brought to Him. When Jesus broke the bread and said this is my body broken for you, He was pointing to what He would bear for us, and Matthew understands that to include our physical needs as well as our spiritual need for forgiveness.
I believe very strongly that God still heals today and that He is concerned with our physical needs. At the same time there is much about healing that we do not fully understand, including why some are healed quickly and others are not. Scripture itself shows this mystery. Paul prayed three times for the thorn in his flesh to be removed, and God did not remove it in the way Paul asked. That reminds us we cannot presume that God wills immediate healing in every case in the way we expect. Jesus also healed in different ways. Sometimes with a word, sometimes with a touch, and in one case the healing was gradual. That variety reminds us not to limit how God may work.
All healing is from God, whether it comes instantly or gradually through the processes He has built into our bodies. He created nature and the healing processes within nature, so a gradual recovery through rest, care, and medical help is no less divine than an instant touch. He also brings healing to the mind and emotions, and there is a real connection between the health of our soul and the health of our body. As one proverb says, a merry heart does good like a medicine, and we are learning how closely our inner peace and our physical well being are linked.
Your migraines are not necessarily a direct result of something you have done. Good people suffer with sickness and pain in this world. In a general sense all pain and disease come indirectly from living in a fallen world corrupted by sin since Adam, and our bodies groan under that weakness as we wait for the new bodies God has promised. The real you is spirit, which will one day be given a new body free from pain, but until then God is present with you in this body in its suffering.
So I will pray for you now for relief and for healing, whether it comes as an immediate lifting of this burden or as a gradual work through the means God provides, and for His peace to guard your heart and mind in the process.
Father, in the name of Jesus I bring this dear one to You. You see the pain of these migraines and You know the weariness they bring. You bore our sicknesses and infirmities on the cross, and You have power over every physical affliction. I ask that You would touch this body and bring healing according to Your wisdom and mercy. Ease the pain, lessen the frequency and intensity of these headaches, and grant wisdom for any care or treatment that may help. Give comfort, strength, and a merry and peaceful heart even while waiting, and let Your healing work be done in body, mind, and spirit. I trust this need into Your loving hands, knowing You hear and You care. Amen.
