Beloved of All
Your honest and tender prayer has been heard, and I am joining you in bringing every part of it before the Lord. It is understandable to feel heavy and nervous when anxiety rises, especially with a trip and flying ahead, with health concerns and the ringing in your ears, and with the disappointment about not seeing the band you had looked forward to. The Lord sees how much you need Him right now, and He invites you to cast all of that care on Him.
Scripture shows that fear and faith cannot live together in the same place. When fear is allowed to take over, faith slips away, and when faith is strong, fear is driven out. The cure for fear is remembering the Lord and His nearness. As David said, even when I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Fear so often comes when we forget that He is with us, and peace returns when we remember Him again. That is why it helps to keep your eyes on Jesus rather than on the waves around you. When Peter looked at Jesus he walked on the water, but when he looked at the wind and the waves, fear gripped him and he began to sink. Keeping your heart fixed on Christ does not mean the wind stops immediately, but it means you are held by the One who is with you in the plane, on the trip, and in every anxious thought.
The Bible also speaks of another kind of fear, the fear of the Lord, which is not a phobia or dread, but a reverent awe at who God is, His greatness and power and goodness. That awe is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. It means wanting to love what He loves and turn from what He hates, and resting in deep respect for Him. When that reverence fills the heart, there is less room for the fear of circumstances or the fear of what people think, which can trap us. The Lord promises to be the confidence of those who reverently trust Him and to keep their feet steady.
I also hear your cry for healing, for yourself and your husband, for your marriage and getting along, for your anxiety and for the loud ringing and hearing loss in your ears, for your sisters and families and friends, and for your loved one who is battling brain cancer. I believe the Lord is compassionate and still heals. Sometimes He heals instantly, sometimes gradually, sometimes through natural processes He has built into our bodies, which are still His divine work, and sometimes in ways we do not fully understand. We do not always know why some are healed quickly and others wait, because His ways are not confined to one pattern, but we know His heart is tender toward the sick and suffering, and we can bring every need to Him with confidence.
Let me pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus, I bring this dear sister and her husband before You. Grant them Your deep peace that passes understanding to guard their hearts and minds. Quiet the anxiety and fear that feels so heavy, and let them know in a real way that You are with them wherever they go, including on this flight and throughout this trip. Give them safety, and also give them a good time together with hearts at rest in You, growing in love and patience toward one another. Touch their bodies and bring healing according to Your will, ease the ringing and restore hearing, and calm the nervous spirit. Comfort and heal their sisters and families and friends, and lay Your healing hand upon the one with brain cancer, surround her with Your mercy and strength. Help them to do what is wise and prudent, but not out of fear, and to walk by faith, remembering You. We trust You as our healer and our peace, and we ask this in the name of Jesus, who loves us and cares for us. Amen.
Keep turning your thoughts to the Lord in those anxious moments, speaking to Him honestly as you have done, thanking Him that He is near, and asking Him to fill you with His peace. He hears you, He loves you, and He will walk with you step by step.
