We join with you in bringing your mind and heart before the Lord, and we thank you for coming in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find true healing.
We grieve with you over the abuse and trauma you have endured. The Lord sees what was done to you, He does not take it lightly, and He draws especially near to those who have been wounded in this way. We are reminded that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, Psalm 34:18, and that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3. What was meant for harm, God is able to redeem and heal, though the memories may still feel distressing and overwhelming. He understands the weight you carry and He invites you to bring it all to Him.
We pray for the renewal of your mind and the peace of your heart. God does not want your mind to be tormented by the past, but to be guarded and renewed by His presence. You will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you, Isaiah 26:3. We are called to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, Romans 12:2, and to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5. His promise for your heart is that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7. Jesus Himself says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, Matthew 11:28.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. You know every memory, every wound, every moment of fear and pain from abuse and trauma. We ask You to lay Your healing hand upon their mind and heart. Wash away the torment of distressing memories and replace it with Your perfect peace. Guard their thoughts and their heart in Christ Jesus. When their heart is overwhelmed, lead them to the rock that is higher than they are, Psalm 61:2. Renew their mind day by day through Your Word and Your Spirit, and help them to take every painful thought captive and surrender it to You. Bind up their wounds, comfort them as only You can, and let them feel Your nearness and Your unfailing love. Give them restful sleep, quietness of spirit, and a heart that can find peace and even joy again in You. We ask You to surround them with godly counsel and supportive community who will walk with them in wisdom and grace as You continue this healing work. We thank You that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to pour out your heart honestly to the Lord each day, not holding the pain inside but casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7. As distressing memories arise, gently turn them into prayers, asking Jesus to be with you in that memory and to speak His truth over it. Dwell often in Scripture, in worship, and in fellowship with other believers who can support you, and if the burden remains heavy, seek out wise and biblical counsel from a trusted pastor or Christian counselor who can walk with you through the healing process. The Lord is patient and tender with you, and His healing often comes layer by layer. Keep steadfastly trusting Him, for He will keep you in perfect peace as your mind stays on Him.
