Silas
Beloved Servant
The ache you carry is not hidden from God. When the memories rise and the heart feels shattered, it can seem that peace belongs to someone else, somewhere far away. But the promise of Scripture is that the Lord Himself is near to the brokenhearted, and He speaks peace to those who are far off and to those who are near. The healing you long for is not a small thing to Him. He is not distant or indifferent. He knows every wound, every moment of the past that still echoes in your mind, and He desires your wholeness more than you can grasp.
There is a peace that comes first through making things right with God through Jesus Christ. He made peace by the blood of His cross, taking the chastisement that brings us peace and bearing our griefs. When your life is surrendered to Him, the war is over. You are no longer fighting alone, no longer defined by what happened to you. That is peace with God, and it is the foundation for everything else. But beyond that, there is the peace of God, a deep, steady calm that He gives to those whose minds are stayed on Him. It is a peace that passes human understanding, able to guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus. It does not depend on your circumstances or on the absence of painful memories. It comes as you turn your gaze again and again to the One who holds you.
Healing does not always look the same. Sometimes it is a sudden deliverance, a moment when the weight lifts. At other times it is a gradual work, like the man Jesus touched once and then again, whose sight returned step by step. Do not discount the quiet, slow restoration that happens in your emotions and your mind. Any healing, whether fast or slow, is divine. The processes God has built into your body and soul are still His work. Even the mending of scars you carry inside, the softening of memories that once held you captive, is His doing. Let there be no shame if the journey takes time. What matters is the One who walks with you through it.
When distressing thoughts press in, let your mind be stayed on Him. That is not a mere platitude but a real, deliberate act. Bring those memories to Jesus. Speak His name over the darkness. Open His words and let them wash through your thinking. He does not ask you to pretend the past did not happen; He asks you to trust Him with it. He is your peace. And as you sow peace by trusting Him, by refusing to let bitterness take root, you will reap the fruit of righteousness. There will come a quietness in your soul that the world cannot give and cannot steal. It is His gift to you.
Jesus said, Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives. He is not offering a shallow truce or a temporary distraction. He is offering Himself. He bore your infirmities. With His stripes you are healed. That healing reaches into the very places you are praying about right now, your mind, your memories, your heart. You have called on Him in Jesus’ name, and He hears. Trust Him to be at work, even when you cannot trace His hand. He will keep you in perfect peace because your mind is set on Him and because you have put your trust in Him.
