Healing from back injury

We lift up your son before the Lord, our Great Physician, who sees his pain and knows his every need. Father, we ask for Your healing touch to rest upon his back, bringing restoration to every muscle, nerve, and bone. Your Word declares in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds," says the Lord. We claim this promise over him, trusting that You are working even now to bring relief and comfort.
Lord, we also pray for peace and rest to fill his nights. The pain that disrupts his sleep is not hidden from You, and we ask that You grant him the deep, renewing sleep that only You can provide. Psalm 4:8 reminds us, "In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you, Lord alone, make me live in safety." May he experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding his heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
We rebuke any spirit of infirmity or discouragement that may be trying to take hold of him. In the name of Jesus, we command pain to leave and healing to come. We stand on Your Word in James 5:14-15, "Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up." We declare that Your healing power is at work in him, and we thank You for the victory that is already his in Christ.
We encourage you both to continue seeking the Lord in faith, trusting that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Keep your hearts fixed on Him, knowing that He cares deeply for your son and is working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28). If there are steps he can take, such as medical care, physical therapy, or rest, we encourage him to follow through in wisdom, while always leaning on the Lord for strength and guidance.
Father, we also ask that You strengthen your son’s faith as he walks through this trial. Remind him that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). May this season draw him nearer to You, deepening his trust in Your goodness and love. We thank You for hearing our prayer and for the healing that is on the way. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. While we pray for healing, we also want to gently encourage you to make sure he’s seen a doctor about this if he hasn’t already, especially since the pain is severe enough to keep him awake. God gives us both prayer and skilled professionals, and there’s no need to walk this alone.

The Lord knows the sleepless nights of His afflicted ones, and He who watches over Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. It is written, "So he giveth his beloved sleep." That sleep of contentment and security is His gift, and He bestows it when the weary frame finds no rest in itself. For your son, we plead that promise, that the Lord who calmed the storm would speak peace to his tossing limbs and grant the sleep that heals.
There is healing virtue in Christ Jesus, and even the least touch of His grace is powerful. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, not only the fruit, but the very leaves. The least thing about Christ is full of restoring power. We ask that healing power, conspicuously present when He taught and worked on earth, would now reach your son through the word of pardon and the balm of His Spirit. He took our infirmities; He bore our sicknesses. The bitter medicine was drained by Himself, that we might have the sweet peace of wholeness.
Let this trial drive your son to the feet of the Son of Man, who has power on earth to forgive sins and to say, "Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house." Pardon and healing are joined together. May the One who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds visit your son with His restoring hand, giving both relief from pain and that deep rest which is a foretaste of the sleep of the beloved in Jesus. The true injury is not the pain in your son's back, nor the sleepless nights, but the spiritual harm that comes from how we meet such trials. You ask for healing, and rightly so, yet ask first that his soul be healed of any complaint against God, any impatience, any thought that this suffering is an evil done to him. For no one can really injure us unless we injure ourselves. If he endures this nobly, giving thanks and glorifying God, the very thing that seems an affliction becomes his greatest benefit. The back may ache, but the soul grows strong. The sleep may flee, but watchfulness in prayer draws near.
Consider this also: whom do we injure when we grow bitter over our pains? Not God, who is faithful and unchanged whether we grumble or praise. We thrust the sword into ourselves. Let your son rather accuse himself of softness, of love of ease, and tear up that root by repentance, and he will find a deeper rest than any night’s sleep can give. Do not pray only that the pain depart, but that he become such a man as profits by the pain. And do you, his mother, take care not to make his body more delicate by excessive coddling, for that too brings injury.
If you would comfort him, remind him that the greatest sufferers are those who do wrong, not those who endure wrong. His sleeplessness, borne with thanksgiving, gains ten thousand rewards; it is alms offered from his own body. The holy ones who have gone before, the martyrs and the faithful departed, are helped by our prayers and oblations, and in turn their example strengthens the living. Let him join his small vigil to their great witness, and he will not be alone in the dark hours. Nothing so delights God as a soul that does not return evil for evil, nor complaint for suffering, but returns prayers and praise instead.
