We join you in lifting up your daughter's father-in-law for healing and your daughter's husband for deliverance and relief from pain, and we bring these needs before our heavenly Father together in Jesus' name.
We are moved by your love for your family and your desire to see them whole. Scripture reminds us that God is our healer and deliverer. Bless Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3. But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed Isaiah 53:5. We also take comfort that the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up James 5:15. For your son-in-law, we know that addiction to cigarettes and alcohol brings bondage to the body and spirit, and God desires to set him free. Don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. And also, Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18. The Lord promises, If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed John 8:36, and we cling to the truth that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3, and that He can heal his physical pain as well, for we know you will restore health to him and heal him of his wounds declares Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17.
We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is by His name that we are saved and our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are forgiven and brought into relationship with God. We encourage you and your family to place your full trust in Him for both healing and deliverance, for with God all things are possible Matthew 19:26.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You that You hear us when we call. We lift up this dear father-in-law to You and ask for Your healing hand upon him. Touch his body, ease his suffering, restore his strength, and let Your will be done in his life. We ask that You would give wisdom to those caring for him and peace to the family as they wait on You. We also lift up this husband, our daughter's husband, who is struggling with cigarettes and alcohol and with pain. Lord, we ask You to deliver him from every addiction and every chain that binds him. Break the desire for these substances and fill him with Your Holy Spirit instead. Help him to present his body as holy and pleasing to You, and to find his comfort and strength in You alone. Touch his pain, whether it is of body or of heart, and bring complete healing and restoration. Draw him closer to You and strengthen his marriage, that it may honor You and reflect Your love and faithfulness. We pray that both of these men would come to know Jesus more deeply and walk in the freedom and wholeness He provides. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray fervently and to encourage your son-in-law to seek the Lord daily in the Word and in prayer, and to seek godly counsel and accountability as well as medical help for both healing and for overcoming addiction, for God often works through the wisdom and care He has provided. Trust that God is faithful, that He will provide the way of escape from temptation that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13, and that He is near to those who are brokenhearted Psalm 34:18. Keep lifting them up before the throne of grace with confidence.
