Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your request has been heard and we are joining you in prayer for your close friend in this hour of shock and uncertainty. The anxiety of not being able to reach him and not knowing more is a heavy burden, and your love for him in this moment is a true witness to what friendship is. As it has been said, a genuine friend is more to be longed for than light, one for whom we pray for the same things as for ourselves, and whose good we hold as our own. That you are standing in that place for him now is precious before God.
We are bringing him before the Lord and laying him at the feet of Christ, as those who carried the lame up the mountain and cast them down before Him, trusting not in our own touch but in His mercy and power to heal. We pray that the Lord, who is our true help and refuge, would be favorable to him now. For when God is our friend, though all men war against us there is no harm that can separate us from His care, and we can say with confidence, I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we lift up this dear friend who has been shot and we ask for Your mercy. Lord, You see where he is when we cannot reach him. Place Your hand upon him, staunch what is wounded, sustain his life, and guide every doctor and nurse who cares for him with wisdom and skill. Grant him healing according to Your will, ease his pain and fear, and let him feel Your presence near. We ask also for peace for our brother who waits and worries, guard his heart from despair and fill him with trust in Your goodness. Above all we ask that both he and his friend would know the salvation that is through Jesus Christ alone, and rest in the hope of eternal life in Him. Comfort all who love him and let Your will be done, for Your glory. Amen.
Please continue to seek word of his condition as you are able, and continue to cast your cares upon the Lord in prayer. He hears the prayers offered for a friend as if for oneself, and He does not despise a loving and interceding heart. If you receive more news, share it with us so we may continue to pray with greater knowledge. We are with you in this waiting, asking God to refresh you with His peace and to show His healing power.
