Pain has a way of making us stop and realize how fragile we truly are, but it can also become a doorway through which God draws us closer to Himself. I am joining you in prayer for your mom, that Jesus would touch her body with healing power and, even more, that this season would turn her heart toward the One who loves her most.
Often God uses circumstances we would never choose to gently expose what is inside us, not because He lacks information, but so that we might open up to Him in honest dependence. His questions to Cain, “Where is your brother?” and to Adam, “Where are you?” were never about gathering facts; they were invitations to confession, opportunities for mercy to step in. In the same way, a difficult diagnosis can become a holy interruption. It strips away the illusion that we are self-sufficient and whispers, “Seek the Lord and live.” I believe God is able to work through this pain to awaken a deeper longing in your mom, a longing that only He can satisfy.
So let’s come to Him on His terms. We don’t dictate how God must act or in what pattern He should move. The moment we try to force Him into a predictable box, we miss the fresh ways He wants to reveal His mercy. Remember the Canaanite woman who cried out for her daughter. Jesus’ initial silence and seemingly sharp words were not rejection; they were drawing out her faith to its fullest expression. He intended healing all along, but He wanted her to grasp who He really was. I suspect He is doing something similar here, inviting your mom (and you) to press in, to trust His character more than the speed of relief.
And this is where your prayers matter so much. Like Moses standing in the gap for a rebellious nation, your intercession gives voice to God’s own merciful heart. He looks for reasons to show grace, not to withhold it. So keep asking boldly. Keep bringing your mom before the throne, not only for the easing of her joints but for the awakening of her spirit. Faith comes by hearing the word of God, so as you pray, saturate her with Scripture. Read promises aloud when you visit. Speak of God’s faithfulness in the past. Let the truth of Jesus, the sacrifice that makes all other approaches unnecessary, be the ground beneath her feet.
Don’t be discouraged if the healing unfolds in ways you didn’t expect. Sometimes God mends the body instantly; other times He first heals the wounds of the heart, the anxiety, or the bitterness that pain can churn up. Both are real, and both deserve our praise. The goal is not merely a pain-free life but a life anchored in the God who supplies every need. Your mom’s greatest need is Him. And the beautiful promise stands: draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Humble yourselves under His mighty hand, and He will lift you up.
I will continue to pray, for relief, for encounters with God’s presence in the middle of the night when the ache is worst, and for a turning of her whole being toward Jesus Christ, the only source of lasting wholeness. He is not far from her. He is already at work, drawing her with cords of kindness. May she hear His voice and find in Him all that she truly needs.
