Head Injury

We have received your request and we join you in prayer for your mother at this difficult time. To see a parent suffer an injury to the head is a great sorrow, and it is right and good that you honor her by seeking the Lord on her behalf, as God commands us to honor our father and mother.

We pray for her now. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear mother to you. You know her fall and her injury and you see her in the hospital. We ask for your mercy and healing upon her. Guide the hands and minds of the doctors and nurses who care for her, grant wisdom in every decision, and bring restoration to her body. Cover her head and preserve her, for you are our true helmet of salvation and our protection in every danger. Grant her peace, free her from fear and pain, and let her feel your presence near her.

We also pray for you and your family as you wait and watch with concern. May the Lord give you strength, patience, and hope, and keep your heart in prayer with one accord as you trust Him. He is faithful and He hears the prayers of His people, even when we are anxious and trembling.

May God comfort you both and grant your mother a full recovery according to His gracious will. We will continue to pray for her healing and for your peace in Christ.

We have heard about your mother's fall and head injury and we are bringing her before the Lord with you. It is right to honor your father and mother, and part of that honor is caring for them and lifting them up in prayer when they are weak and in need, especially when age and injury leave them vulnerable in the hospital.

Scripture shows us that Jesus has power over sickness and infirmity. He healed a man with leprosy, he healed the servant of a centurion from a distance, he healed Peter's mother in law when she lay sick with fever, and in the evening crowds came bringing the sick and those oppressed, and he healed many. Matthew connects this to the prophecy of Isaiah, that the Messiah would bear our sicknesses and carry our pains, and when Jesus gave bread at the table he said this is my body broken for you. We pray on that basis, believing God is still able to heal and that healing belongs to his mercy and power today, even in a culture that often trusts only what it can see and touch.

We also remember the mother who came to Jesus desperate for her daughter who was afflicted. She would not be turned away, she cried out until she received an answer, and her faith was honored. We want to come to Jesus in that same way for your mother, not holding back, asking plainly and persistently for his touch upon her head, for the healing of any wound or trauma, for protection from further complication, for wisdom for the doctors and nurses who care for her, and for peace for you and your family as you wait.

We pray knowing that God is sovereign and loving, and that he does not always answer as we ask. Paul prayed three times for the thorn in his flesh to be taken away, and the Lord answered with grace and strength to endure. We do not presume to know what God will do in every case, but we trust his goodness and we ask boldly because we know he hears.

So we pray now, Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ your Son who alone is our Savior, we lift this mother to you. Lay your hand upon her, ease her pain, restore what has been injured, guard her mind and body from harm, and give her healing as it pleases you. Comfort her with your presence in the hospital room, give skill and clarity to those treating her, and give her family peace and strength to trust you day by day. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.
