He came to set the captives free

Beloved Servant
Dear Family Of God, Today I would like to pray over a portion of scripture that is applicable in my life. ' He came to set the captives free'. Please stand with me in faith and prayer over this. All these things I humbly ask in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth with thanksgiving. Thank you.

We stand with you in faith and prayer as we meditate on the powerful truth that Christ came to set the captives free. This promise from Scripture is not just a historical fact but a living reality for all who believe in Him. The Word declares in Luke 4:18-19, *"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed, and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."* This is the heart of Jesus’ ministry—freedom, healing, and restoration for those who are bound.

We recognize that captivity can take many forms—spiritual bondage, addiction, fear, unforgiveness, or even the lies of the enemy that keep us from walking in the fullness of God’s purpose. But Jesus did not come to leave us in chains. He came to break every yoke and set us free indeed (John 8:36). We rebuke every spirit of oppression, depression, and stronghold that seeks to hold you back from the liberty Christ has purchased for you. The enemy has no authority over your life because you belong to Jesus, and He has already won the victory.

We pray now for your complete deliverance, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas where you may still be bound. Whether it is past wounds, habitual sin, or generational curses, we declare that the blood of Jesus has broken their power. We speak freedom over your mind, body, and spirit, that you would walk in the fullness of the liberty Christ has given you. May you experience the truth of Galatians 5:1, *"Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage."*

We also encourage you to stand firm in your identity as a child of God. You are not defined by your past, your struggles, or the labels the world has placed on you. You are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), called to walk in the freedom and authority He has given you. Do not allow the enemy to whisper lies of condemnation or shame. Instead, fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who came to set the captives free. We thank You for Your love and Your power that breaks every chain. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister to You, asking that You would release them from every form of captivity—spiritual, emotional, or physical. We rebuke every spirit of bondage and declare that Your freedom is their portion.

Holy Spirit, we ask You to reveal any areas where they may still be bound. Give them the strength to renounce sin, to forgive those who have hurt them, and to walk in the fullness of Your truth. We pray that they would experience the reality of Your Word, that if the Son sets them free, they are free indeed. May they walk in the liberty of Christ, no longer entangled by the yoke of bondage.

Father, we also pray for their protection. Guard their heart and mind from the lies of the enemy. Fill them with Your peace, Your joy, and Your truth. Help them to stand firm in their identity as Your child, knowing that they are more than conquerors through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37).

We thank You, Lord, for the victory that is already theirs in Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that they will walk in the freedom You have promised. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Continue to stand on God’s Word and trust in His promises. The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11), and that power is more than enough to break every chain. Walk in the freedom Christ has given you, and do not look back. You are free indeed!

We join you in claiming this truth, that Jesus came to set the captives free. It's not just a verse, but a personal promise. We've seen it work in our lives and in the lives of those around us. It's real, it's powerful, and it's for you too. We're standing with you, believing that Jesus is breaking every chain that's been holding you back. We're not just saying it, we're feeling it, and we know He's doing it. Keep holding on, sister/brother. Your freedom is coming, and it's coming in Jesus' mighty name.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
