Having chest pains, getting slightly frustrated with schoolwork, and medicine

Lynetta Dove

Disciple of Prayer
I'm caught up on schoolwork and am not having any other symptoms with the chest pain, but it started yesterday. This has happened before and I experienced relief when I stopped wearing my bra for a few days, but I took it off and it still was hurting. Might be because of my period because I know on my last one, I had a lot of heart palpitations. Please pray that I will have some relief. My studying is getting on my nerves a bit too in terms of the programs I am trying to use because it isn't taking all of my notes and I have a lot of chapters to study for my midterm. Also, for the medicine, me, my mom, and my sister are all waiting for insurance to approve a weight loss pill our Primary Care doctor prescribed for all three of us so please pray that it is covered so we can all lose weight and be healthier.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

🙏Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We are lifting you up together in Jesus' name and bringing your needs before our Heavenly Father, and we are grateful you shared so openly with us.

We hear your concern about the chest pain that started yesterday and the heart palpitations you have experienced around your period. Even though you are caught up on schoolwork and have no other symptoms, and even though this has happened before with some relief when you removed pressure from clothing, chest pain should never be ignored. We encourage you to seek prompt medical care and to let your doctor and your mother know right away if it continues, worsens, or is accompanied by palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, or pressure. God has given us wisdom and physicians to care for our bodies, and we are called to steward them well. As it is written, Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. We pray for relief and for healing, for wisdom for your doctors, and for peace as you wait. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. We also pray that any hormonal changes related to your cycle would be understood clearly by your doctor so you can receive proper care and reassurance.

We also understand your frustration with your schoolwork and studying for your midterm. It is discouraging when programs do not work as you need and when there are many chapters to cover. We pray God will grant you clarity, focus, and perseverance. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5. And Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. Proverbs 16:3. We encourage you to cast your anxiety on Him, for He cares for you. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28. We pray He will help you organize your notes, use your time well, and rest in His strength rather than growing overwhelmed.

For the weight loss medication prescribed for you, your mother, and your sister, we pray together for your health and for God's provision. We pray that if it is His will and for your good, the insurance would cover what you need, and that He would guide your doctors with wisdom. Beloved, we pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers. 3 John 1:2. We also encourage you all to seek lasting health through consistent stewardship of the body God has given you, with balanced eating, activity, rest, and self-control, which is fruit of the Spirit. Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31. A pill alone cannot replace daily faithfulness in these areas, but we pray God will give you strength and discipline and unity as a family to pursue health in a way that honors Him.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share why His name matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and the assurance of salvation. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. We have all sinned and need His forgiveness, and He freely offers it to all who turn to Him in faith. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and to call upon His name in prayer.

We now pray together for you.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up our sister to Your throne of grace. We ask for Your healing hand upon her chest, for relief from pain and palpitations, and for wisdom and discernment for her and for her doctors to know the cause and the proper treatment. Give her peace and guard her heart from fear. Lord, we ask for Your help with her studies, that You would calm her frustration, help her programs and notes to work properly, and give her understanding and recall for her midterm. Grant her diligence and rest. Father, we pray for her and her mother and sister as they wait on the insurance decision, that You would provide according to Your will, lead them in healthy habits, and help them to honor You with their bodies. Above all, draw each of them closer to Jesus and let them know the comfort of Your presence. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our hope and healer. Amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking Him, to keep your family and doctor informed about your symptoms, to bring your studies and health decisions to Him daily, and to trust that He cares for every detail of your life. Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7.

We heard how heavy this week feels for you. Chest pain is frightening, especially when it lingers since yesterday and you have noticed palpitations before, and it makes sense you would want relief quickly while you are also trying to focus on midterms. Waiting on insurance for you, your mom and your sister adds another layer of worry.

Because chest pain should always be checked promptly, we encourage you to reach out to your primary care doctor or urgent care right away, alongside prayer and not instead of it, and to let a trusted family member know how you are feeling so you are not carrying this alone. If symptoms worsen or you feel unsafe, please seek care without delay.

For school, when the program is not taking all your notes and there are many chapters to cover, it can help to contact your professor or campus academic support about the technical issue and to break the studying into smaller blocks with rest in between. We know you are working hard to stay caught up.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus name. We ask for Your peace to guard her heart, for wisdom for her doctors and for clear guidance about her health, for help with her studying and for Your provision and direction for her and her family as they wait on the insurance decision. Lead them in Your will and keep them in Your care. Amen.

We have carried your request before the Lord and we join with you in seeking His mercy and help in these trials.

You tell us of pain in your chest and of palpitations, and that this has happened before. We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they are too painful to let us slumber in silence, and they soon urge us to seek a physician for our healing. We urge you, even as you pray, to seek prompt care from your doctor for this pain, and not to delay. Tell the case to Jesus just as you would mention a physical case to a doctor, for He is ready to hear it all and to consider it. Yet the Lord has also given skill to physicians, and we should use the means He provides. We will pray that the Great Physician will lay His hand upon you and grant you relief, and that He will give wisdom to those who care for you, to discern the cause and to guide you well. Remember that there is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ, and that even the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing, and His healing changes the life blood and makes the nature other than it was before. Above all, we pray that you know the healing of pardon through His blood, for when the Sun of Righteousness rises upon His people with healing in His wings, pardon and healing are one.

You speak also of frustration and anxiety over your studies, with many chapters to prepare and programs that will not take your notes. We know well that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. As far as we have ascertained, either by our own experience or by the observation of others, we have never discovered that anxiety has comforted anybody, or that it has brought any grist to the mill, or any meal to the barrel. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it. Cast your care upon Him, for He cares for you. The feeding of the physical frame engrosses much care, but do not neglect the supply of spiritual food, for you yourself are better than your body, and your immortal soul is worth far more than that poor carcass which will soon pass away. We will pray that the Lord will quiet your spirit, give you a clear mind and diligence in your studies, and help you to do all things faithfully as unto Him, trusting the outcome to His wise providence.

Concerning the medicine you mention for yourself, your mother and your sister, we understand your desire to be healthier and to steward the bodies God has given you. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we are called to care for them with temperance and wisdom. We will pray that the Lord will grant you all wisdom to pursue true health in ways that honor Him, that He will guide your primary care doctor with sound judgment, and that He will provide for your needs according to His goodness. If it be His will and for your good, we pray He would open the way for the provision you seek, and in all things we pray He would lead you to trust not in means alone, but in Him who is the fountain of health and strength.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, our heavenly Physician, we bring this dear one before Your throne of grace through Jesus Christ alone, who is our only hope of salvation and healing. Look with compassion upon this pain in the chest and upon this troubled heart. Grant relief, we beseech You, and grant wisdom to seek and to receive good medical care. Calm all anxious thoughts concerning study, and give peace that passes understanding, with diligence and clarity of mind for the work set before her. Teach us all to cast our cares upon You. Grant to this one and to her mother and sister grace to steward their bodies well, to seek health that You may be glorified, and to trust Your provision in all things. Forgive our sins and heal our souls, and let Your healing virtue work in us till we are made whole. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who bore our sicknesses and carried our sorrows. Amen.
