Harrassment through my brother and mother

Natasha 2

Beloved of All
Lord please the devil is harrassing me through my mother and brother. It is like that my whole life. Lord please help.

We hear the pain in your cry and we join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord together in Jesus name. To feel harassed within your own family and to feel it has been this way your whole life is a deep and wearying sorrow, and we want you to know that God sees what you have endured and He cares for you. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18

We understand what you are discerning, that the real battle is spiritual. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 Your mother and your brother are not your enemy, though their words or actions may wound you, the enemy is the devil who seeks to steal and divide and destroy. Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8

We also want to gently point out something important in your request. You cried out to the Lord, and that is good, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through His name that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 If you have not already, we encourage you to put your full trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name in every prayer. It is in His name that we can resist the enemy and find peace.

In that name we rebuke the work of the enemy in your family. We resist the harassment and division the devil has tried to sow, and we declare that he must flee as you submit yourself to God. Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7 We pray for protection over your mind and heart, that God would guard you from the fiery darts of accusation and harassment and give you His peace that surpasses understanding.

We also want to encourage you in how to walk this out biblically. God calls us to Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you. Exodus 20:12 and at the same time He calls us to pursue peace and to set healthy boundaries. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Romans 12:18 This may mean loving them while not exposing yourself to continual harm, seeking wisdom from a trusted pastor or godly counselor, and not returning evil for evil. We are called to love and pray even for those who mistreat us. But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, Matthew 5:44 This does not mean you must accept abuse, but it means we release them to God and ask Him to work in their hearts as He heals ours.

We lift you up now together in prayer. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who feels harassed and worn down by strife with mother and brother. Lord, You see the history of pain that has lasted a lifetime, and we ask You to bring healing where there has been wounding. We rebuke the enemy's harassment and ask You to silence his lies and accusations. Fill this home with Your presence and Your peace. Soften the hearts of mother and brother, convict where there is harshness, and bring repentance and reconciliation where it is Your will. Give our dear one wisdom to know how to honor You while walking in boundaries that protect their heart, strength to forgive as You have forgiven, and courage to resist the devil and stand firm in faith. Let Your love cast out fear and let Your joy be their strength. Draw each member of this family closer to Jesus, that all may be saved and transformed by His grace. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We are holding you in prayer and we are so sorry you have carried this hurt for so long. When the pain comes through your own mother and brother, and it has been that way your whole life, it can leave you feeling worn down and alone in your own home. It makes sense you would name this as spiritual harassment as well as family hurt.

We believe God sees both the spiritual struggle and the painful family patterns that can repeat over years. You do not have to untangle all of that by yourself or confront everything at once.

It can help to have one steady, trusted person walk with you, a pastor or a mature believer who knows you and can listen, pray with you, and help you think through next steps. If you have someone like that, consider reaching out this week and sharing what you shared here, just to ask for ongoing support and prayer.

In the meantime, small and consistent boundaries can protect your peace. That might look like noticing when a conversation is turning harmful and choosing to step away for a time, keeping interactions brief when tension is high, and staying connected to healthy community so you are not isolated with the hurt.

Father, we bring our brother before You in Jesus name. Surround him with Your presence, guard his heart and mind, and give him wisdom and calm for each interaction with his mother and brother. Provide trusted people to stand with him, bring rest where there has been long strain, and lead him step by step in Your peace. Amen.

Your cry has come up before the Lord, and He who hears the sighing of the prisoner is not deaf to the grief of a child who has felt harassment within his own household these many years. To be troubled by mother and by brother is a sore affliction, for we look for refuge among our own kin, and when the wound comes from there it cuts the deeper. Yet the Lord has known this sorrow from of old.

You speak of the devil harassing you through those nearest to you, and Scripture teaches us that our deliverance from the power of darkness must be looked for from our heavenly Father alone. Deliverance from the guilt of sin and deliverance from the power of sin are both His work, and where we look for justification there must we look for sanctification and for peace. He has found a ransom. His own Son has borne the penalty, and in Jesus we have an Elder Brother who will never forget nor forsake His own. Down with the thought that He has shut His ear or will not move His arm to deliver. That blaspheming thought must go back to the hell from which it springs.

Remember the patriarch Jacob at the brook Jabbok. He trembled to meet his brother Esau, whom he feared as bloodthirsty, and he cried, Lord, give deliverance from him. He crossed the brook full of fear and trembling, and the Lord turned the heart of his brother, so that Esau fell upon his neck and kissed him. What God did for Jacob He can do still. He can soften hearts, He can set a hedge about you, He can give peace within your borders though now you are as one divided brother against brother.

The believer learns to say, The Lord has chastened me sorely, but He has not given me over unto death. If we had no troubles we would have less to declare, but through affliction we learn to live and to declare the works of the Lord. He who brought Israel forth when the lamb was slain did not only bring them out, He brought them forth with enrichment, and He makes deliverance effectual. He pities His tried and troubled ones as a father pities his children, and as a mother rejoices when her lost child is found, so the Lord rejoices to show mercy.

We will pray for you now.

O Lord, our Father, look with tender pity upon this afflicted one who has long felt harassment from mother and brother. Thou hast delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of Thy dear Son, deliver this Thy child also from present distress. Let the clock of mercy strike the hour of deliverance, and show that Thou hast found a ransom. Keep this soul from despondency, teach the hands to do no evil in return, and give wisdom to walk in holiness and in peace. If it be Thy will, turn the hearts of mother and brother toward peace, as Thou didst turn Esau, and if not, set a hedge of grace about Thy child that the archers of discord may not prevail. Let this trial be counted as chastening in love, and bring this one forth to live and to declare Thy works, giving all honor to Free Grace alone. Through Jesus Christ our Elder Brother and Redeemer, Amen.

Take heart, and keep looking unto Jesus. He who has begun a good work will perfect it, and He will not leave you to be crushed. Seek the Lord daily in prayer, walk in quiet obedience, seek godly counsel for wise boundaries in the home, and you shall yet sing songs of deliverance and magnify His tender indulgence toward the least and feeblest of His family.
