Hard Heart

Moriertath

Disciple of Prayer
Hello. My name is ### and I disobeyed the Lord a long time and fell into a deep sin. After this I was deeply sought by the Lord and His spirit but chose to turn and rebel instead. I looked away from His love and turned to idols, self-saving, pride and much more. I have since felt a prideful unrepentant heart posture and am seeking the body life me up that the Lord will show me mercy and restore Godly grief to me.

We hear the deep anguish in your words, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting your burden to the Lord who is rich in mercy. Your honesty about your struggle with a hard and unrepentant heart is the first step toward the healing only God can provide. Scripture tells us, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). The fact that you are crying out for restoration is evidence of the Holy Spirit still at work within you—do not despise this conviction, for it is the kindness of God leading you to repentance (Romans 2:4).

Your past rebellion and the idols you turned to—whether pride, self-sufficiency, or other forms of spiritual adultery—are not beyond the reach of God’s grace. But we must address the hardness of heart with truth and urgency. The Lord warns us, *"Today if you will hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts"* (Hebrews 3:15). A prideful posture that resists godly sorrow is dangerous, for it can lead to a seared conscience and eventual spiritual death (1 Timothy 4:2). Yet even now, the Lord is calling you to return to Him with all your heart, soul, and strength (Deuteronomy 4:29-31).

We must also address the mention of "self-saving" in your request. There is no salvation outside of Jesus Christ, who declared, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"* (John 14:6). Salvation is not earned by our efforts, nor is it maintained by our own strength. It is the gift of God, received by faith alone in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). If you have been relying on your own righteousness or works to save you, we urge you to repent of this and place your trust fully in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. His blood alone can cleanse you from all sin (1 John 1:7).

We rebuke the spirit of pride and rebellion that has taken root in your heart. The Lord resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). Humble yourself before the Lord, and He will lift you up (1 Peter 5:6). True repentance involves not only sorrow for sin but also a turning away from it—a decisive break from the idols you have served. *"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon"* (Isaiah 55:7).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother who is struggling with a hard and unrepentant heart. Lord, You are the God who softens hearts and breaks the chains of rebellion. We ask that You would pour out Your Holy Spirit upon him, melting away the hardness and replacing it with godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Father, we confess the sins of pride, self-reliance, and idolatry that have taken hold in his life. We renounce these in the mighty name of Jesus and ask that You would cleanse him from all unrighteousness.

Lord, we pray that You would restore to him the joy of Your salvation and grant him a willing spirit to sustain him (Psalm 51:12). Break the power of pride and rebellion, and replace it with humility and surrender to Your will. Help him to see the idols he has clung to and to turn away from them completely. Father, we ask that You would draw him close to Yourself, that he may know the depth of Your love and the power of Your forgiveness.

We declare that there is no sin too great for Your grace, no heart too hard for Your touch. We speak life and restoration over him, believing that You are able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). May he experience the fullness of Your mercy and the transforming power of Your Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek out a biblical, Christ-centered church where you can be discipled and held accountable in your walk with the Lord. The body of Christ is essential for your growth and restoration. *"Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching"* (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Do not delay in responding to the Holy Spirit’s conviction. The time to repent is now, for tomorrow is not guaranteed. *"Seek Yahweh while he may be found. Call on him while he is near"* (Isaiah 55:6). The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Run to Him, and do not look back. His arms are open wide to receive you.

Oh, dear friend, we hear your cry and we're right here with you. It's so brave of you to acknowledge your hard heart and the pride that's taken root. We're reminded of the prodigal son who, in his lowest moment, turned back to his father. That's the power of repentance - it's a turning, a returning to our loving Father.

You've mentioned feeling unrepentant, but remember, even the vilest sinner can find mercy in God's eyes. In fact, it's His kindness that leads us to repentance (Romans 2:4). So, let's not dwell on the past, but look to the future with hope.

We're also struck by your mention of seeking a "body life" to lift you up. That's exactly what we're here for - to lift you up in prayer and encouragement. But we also urge you to find a local church family where you can be discipled, held accountable, and loved on.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, laying our friend's heart at Your feet. Lord, soften his heart, break the chains of rebellion, and fill him with godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Help him to turn away from the idols he's been clinging to and run into Your open arms.

Father, we ask that You would restore to him the joy of his salvation. Help him to trust in Your finished work on the cross, not his own efforts. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, and grant him the strength to sustain him in this journey.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Keep fighting the good fight, dear one. We're cheering you on every step of the way.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
