Good and Faithful Servant
I have posted before about experiencing harassment by people who were doing so under the influence of demons that came into my life when I was in the new age. Well, God has helped me see that problems with unforgiveness kept these demons being able to harass me. After this, I began to theorize that making peace with these people who have been harassing me was the key to finally putting an end to this demonic harassment and have been trying to do so. Please pray for me about this. This is not going to be an easy or simple process as harmful things have been done on both my end and theirs and reaching out to reconcile has been nerve wrecking for me. There is also demonic activity involved affecting these people and causing them to behave out of the ordinary way they usually would in very evil ways in addition to some of them being unsaved/deceived by false teachings which could also impact how they respond to me. This has also caused concerns for me as I reach out. I am noticing that many of these people don't really actually seem as if they are trying to rebuild a relationship with me at a personal level apart from public perception. I'm also concerned because there are people in my life who under the influence of this same demonic activity were pressuring me to make peace with these people and they seem blind to the reality of the situation in multiple ways. It's like they're under some kind of spell. I really wish I had someone to talk to about this who could understand the kind of things happening here including the demonic activity. Maybe my pastor and elders might...Please pray. Thank you.

We thank you for sharing this again with us and for your honesty about how heavy and complex this has become. We hear how nerve wracking this has been and how much discernment you need as you navigate harassment, past involvement in the new age, unforgiveness, and the desire to make peace. We praise God that He has already helped you see the danger of holding unforgiveness, because Scripture warns us very clearly about this open door.

The Word says do not give place to the devil, Ephesians 4:27, and that we are to forgive one another just as Christ also forgave us, Colossians 3:13. Jesus taught if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses, Matthew 6:14-15. We also take comfort that when we confess and renounce our past involvement with darkness, God is faithful to cleanse and deliver us, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, 2 Corinthians 10:4, and greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4.

We want to gently encourage you in your understanding of making peace. It is right and biblical to forgive from the heart and to seek peace as far as it depends on you, as it is written if it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men, Romans 12:18. Forgiveness is commanded and is between you and the Lord, and it releases you from the torment that unforgiveness brings. Reconciliation and rebuilding a relationship, however, are not always the same as forgiveness and are not always possible, wise, or safe, especially when harmful things have been done on both sides and when demonic influence and deception are still at work in others. Forgiveness can be given immediately by grace, but trust is rebuilt over time and requires repentance and truth on both sides. We should not feel pressured to force reconciliation or to restore close fellowship with people who are not showing genuine repentance or who remain under deception and false teaching.

You are right to recognize that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places, Ephesians 6:12. People are responsible for their choices, yet the enemy does influence and blind. That is why we must put on the whole armor of God, Ephesians 6:11, and be sober and self-controlled, because your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, 1 Peter 5:8. The way to close the door is not primarily by winning the approval of those who have harassed you, but by submitting to God, resisting the devil, and he will flee from you, James 4:7. The Lord has given us authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, Luke 10:19, but that authority is in Christ alone.

We noticed you spoke of God helping you but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and deliverance from darkness. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to fully renounce every new age practice, teaching, and object, confess it as sin, and declare your faith and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross and His resurrection. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9. It is by calling on the name of Jesus that we are forgiven, protected, and set free.

We strongly affirm your desire to talk with your pastor and elders. Please do not walk through this alone. God has placed shepherds in the church to pray with you, to help you test what is happening, to provide wise boundaries, and to stand with you in deliverance prayer. Bring them the whole story, including the pressure you have felt from others who seem blind to the spiritual reality. Not everyone will understand spiritual warfare, and some may mean well but give unwise counsel to simply make peace at any cost. You need godly counsel that sees both the call to peacemaking and the need for wisdom, truth, and protection. Be sober about who you reconcile with and how. It is not unloving to set boundaries, to limit contact, or to require distance until there is clear fruit of repentance.

We are praying with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We thank You for this one You love, for the work You have already begun in revealing the trap of unforgiveness and the reality of the enemy's schemes. We ask You to pour out Your grace to forgive fully as Christ has forgiven, to release every bitter root, and to close every door that was opened through the new age and through unforgiveness. We renounce in Jesus name every demonic influence, every deception, and every assignment of harassment, and we ask You to command the enemy to leave and to place a hedge of protection around Your child. Clothe us with the whole armor of God, fill this heart with Your perfect love which casts out fear, and grant wisdom beyond human wisdom for every conversation and every step toward peace. Give discernment to know when to speak, when to be silent, when to pursue reconciliation, and when to step back and entrust people to You. We pray for the people who have caused harm, that You would open their eyes, deliver them from deception and false teaching, and bring them to repentance and salvation in Jesus. We pray for those who are pressuring our dear one without understanding, that You would awaken them. And we pray for our pastor and elders, that You would anoint them with clarity, compassion, and courage to walk alongside and to pray with authority. Let Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We ask all this in the name above every name, Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We encourage you to stay rooted daily in Scripture, in prayer in Jesus name, and in fellowship with mature believers. Keep forgiving, keep resisting the enemy by submitting to God, and keep seeking wise, biblical counsel before taking further steps to reconcile. The Lord is near to those who are brokenhearted, Psalm 34:18, and He will be your refuge and strength. We are standing with you and we urge you to reach out to your pastor and elders very soon so you are not carrying this alone.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly with us. We hear how much you want to be free from this harassment and to do what honors God, and also how heavy and nerve wracking it has felt to try to reach out when there has been real hurt on both sides and you are not sure how people will respond.

It makes sense you feel pulled in different directions, especially when others around you are pressing you to make peace quickly while you are still trying to understand what is wise and safe. One thing that may help ease some of that pressure is remembering that choosing to forgive in your heart before God is not the same as rebuilding a close relationship with someone. You can seek to release bitterness and entrust people to God without having to restore the same level of contact, and wisdom often means moving slowly and with counsel.

We are glad you mentioned your pastor and elders. We encourage you to take that next step soon and not carry this alone. It could help to write down briefly what you have been experiencing, what you have already tried, and what you are hoping for, and then invite one or two trusted leaders to listen and help you discern what next steps, and what boundaries, are right for now.

Father, we bring our friend before You and ask for Your nearness and protection. Give clear wisdom for each decision, quiet the confusion and fear, and provide steady, trustworthy people to walk alongside. Keep our friend anchored in Christ and guide each step forward, in Jesus name, amen.

We have heard your burden and have carried it before the Lord in prayer, thanking Him that He has already begun a gracious work in you in bringing you out of the darkness of the new age and showing you your need of forgiveness.

There is forgiveness with God, and it is a divine forgiveness. "I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake." It is not from man, and it does not depend upon man. Were all men to hiss at you or to withhold their pardon, you may still have the pardon of God through Jesus Christ, and that is enough to enter heaven. It is a surprising forgiveness, a complete forgiveness, an eternal forgiveness, and it is found only in Christ, for God has found a ransom. His own Son has borne the penalty of iniquity, and therefore deliverance from the pit is certain. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that showeth mercy. He brought His people forth when the lamb was slain, and He alone brings forth still.

We praise God that He has shown you the sin of unforgiveness and given you a desire to be free from it. Remember that He not only forgave you at the first all your sins when you trusted Christ, but He continues daily to forgive, for the act of forgiveness is continuous in Him. As you have received such manifest and outward forgiveness, you are now called to that joint work of mutual forgiveness, forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. This forgiveness in your heart before God is commanded and is for your deliverance, whether those who have harmed you ever ask for it or ever return it.

At the same time, forgiving from the heart and seeking to make peace are not the same as rebuilding personal trust or placing yourself again in harm's way. The Lord who commands forgiveness also gives wisdom. Reconciliation where harmful things have been done on both sides, where demonic influence and deception and false teaching are at work, is not to be rushed, and it requires more than public perception. It requires truth, repentance, and the work of the Holy Spirit in both parties. Do not let pressure from others, even well meaning people who may be blind to the reality of spiritual warfare, drive you beyond what Scripture and godly counsel would warrant. Try the spirits, test every counsel by the Word of God, and walk not by theories that peace with men will in itself end demonic harassment, but by the certainty that deliverance is solely by the power of God through the blood of the Lamb.

We pray for you now.

Our Father, we thank Thee that there is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared. We bless Thee that Thou hast provided a ransom and that deliverance from sin and from the power of the enemy is wrought by Thy hand alone. We ask for this dear soul, grant a deeper assurance of complete and eternal forgiveness in Christ, and a daily experience of it. Give a tender heart to forgive as Thou hast forgiven, and yet give wisdom to know how and when and how far to pursue peace with those who have done harm. Protect from all harassment and from the evil one, and let no weapon formed against Thy child prosper. Bring discernment to see what is of Thee and what is not, and courage to not be moved by pressure but to wait upon Thee. Provide a faithful pastor and elders who will understand, who will listen, who will open the Scriptures and pray and watch over this soul with care. We ask that Thou wouldst save those who are unsaved and deliver those deceived by false teaching, that they may come to the knowledge of the truth. Let this one not be isolated or left to carry this alone, but be brought into the peace within Thy borders and the songs of deliverance which Thou givest to Thy people. Keep this heart from fear and trembling that would keep it from Thee, and draw it nearer to Christ, where forgiveness is to be found. In the name of Jesus Christ, our only ransom and deliverer, Amen.

We encourage you to go, as you have desired, to your pastor and elders soon, to share these things fully and to seek their ongoing counsel and prayer and protection. Tell them plainly of the history in the new age, of the harassment, of the pressures you feel, and of your desire to forgive and to walk wisely. Stay in the Word, in prayer, and in the fellowship of the church, for there the Lord gives songs of deliverance and peace.
