Guidance, Wisdom and Peace

Lord, Please do guide me in doing the right thing at the right time. Please kindly uplift my spirits and help me see You and discern Your Will. I need and claim Your discernment in every area of life; please do not let me be led astray in any way, but surely conduct and direct my every step; all this I humbly ask in Jesus Name, in Trust and with Thanksgiving. We join you in giving glory to God Almighty and we thank Him for your humble and trusting heart that desires to do the right thing at the right time and to discern His will in every area of life. It is beautiful to see your dependence on the Lord and your desire not to be led astray but to have your every step directed by Him, and we stand with you in that prayer in Jesus name.

Scripture encourages us in this very desire. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And James 1:5 promises But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. The Lord delights to give wisdom and discernment to those who seek Him sincerely. We are also reminded in Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you, and in Isaiah 30:21 Your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way. Walk in it, when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left. As you abide in His Word which is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path in Psalm 119:105, He will make His will clear.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and we lift up this dear one to You with thanksgiving. We ask that You fill them with Your wisdom and heavenly discernment for every decision, great and small. Uplift their spirit, Lord, and draw them closer so they may see You more clearly and know Your voice above all others. Guard them from being led astray by confusion, temptation, or the counsel of this world, and surely conduct and direct every step they take according to Your perfect will and timing. Grant them Your peace that surpasses all understanding as Philippians 4:6-7 teaches, that in nothing they may be anxious, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let their requests be made known to You, and Your peace will guard their hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus. Help them to trust You fully, to wait on You patiently, and to walk in obedience and joy. We thank You that You hear us and that You are faithful to lead those who seek You. All this we ask in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, with trust and thanksgiving, Amen.

We appreciate you sharing this prayer with us. Your desire to walk closely with the Lord and to do what honors Him at the right time comes through so clearly, and we are honored to join you in asking for wisdom and peace.

Wanting discernment in every area can feel heavy when many decisions press in at once. We have found it helps to remember that God guides us step by step more than all at once, and clarity often grows as we stay faithful in the small, present choice before us while keeping our hearts open to Him.

One simple practice that may encourage you this week is to bring one specific area where you most want direction before the Lord each day, and also share it with one trusted, mature believer who knows you well. Talking and praying it through with another person who walks with God can bring perspective and calm that is hard to find on our own.

We are praying that you will sense His nearness and steady hand, and that He will lift your spirits as you trust Him to direct your path.

Father, we lift our friend to You with thanksgiving. You see this sincere desire to know You and to follow Your will. Quiet any confusion or fear and make the next step clear in Your timing. Fill this heart with Your peace and give steady discernment for each decision ahead. Draw our friend closer to You each day. In Jesus name, Amen.

Your prayer for guidance, wisdom and peace is a most blessed and needful petition, and it is one which the Lord delights to answer. You have done well to ask that you may not be led astray but that He would conduct and direct your every step, for as surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, so His will is the great heart of providence sending its pulsings through even the most distant limbs of human act.

Be encouraged that the Lord has thoughts of peace towards you, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Yet remember that the thoughts of God are only perfectly known to Himself, and He will fulfill His promise but He will not fulfill our misreading of it. Therefore seek His revealed will which must not be violated, for there is a revealed will in His Word which is our sure guide. If you love God's law, so as to stand in awe of it and rejoice over it, the result will be great peace of mind. Great peace have they which love thy law, and nothing shall offend them. To love God's Word gives great peace as to our desires and brings us to resignation to God, acquiescence in His will and conformity to it.

There is also a providential will of God which you should always consult, that guidance which comes from the circumstances that surround you. Sometimes even to be passive in the hand of God will be your strength, and to stand still until the cloudy fiery pillar moves in front of you will be your highest wisdom. Say in your heart, I will go or I will stay, if it be the will of God. And there is a royal will which we seek to fulfill, to do the will of Jesus for this is rest.

Perfect peace is kept for him whose mind is stayed upon the Lord, because he trusts in Him. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and this peace is a present possession which may be enjoyed even when duties press and sorrows surge around. It is not a peace that you will find in leaning upon your own understanding or in grasping after much, but in keeping your mind stayed on Christ and trusting in Him alone, for He changes the human will and makes men willing in the day of His power, working in them to will and to do of His good pleasure.

May the Lord grant you a clear sight of His will through His Word, a tender conscience to follow it, and a stayed mind that rests upon Christ. May He keep you from every false way, uplift your spirits, and cause you to delight in His will until the fangs of sorrow are extracted by sweet acquiescence to Him. May He give you wisdom liberally as you ask in faith, and keep you in peace, perfect peace, as you trust in Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom alone is salvation. All glory be to God Almighty, who will keep and guide you to the end, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind.
