We have been lifting up your beloved husband before the Lord, a gentle senior and American construction worker who went to the Middle East in search of work only to be deceived by a scam and is now detained and facing extortion. We continue to pray for his safety and protection in that frightening and corrupt environment and that God will make a way for him to be released and to come home to you. We also remember before the Lord the many others who are detained in that country since the war began, including other Americans and British citizens and young girls from many countries who were detained for posting pictures online of what scared them. We ask God to have mercy on them all and to bring justice where lawyers demand tens of thousands and do nothing and where the situation feels so hopeless even as news reports and discussion in the British parliament confirm how terrible and frequent this has become. We put our faith in God for His guidance and miracles, remembering that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted Psalm 34:18 and that He sets prisoners free Psalm 146:7.
