Asking for your generous prayers. Husband is a senior detained in Middle East. He’s a gentle American in construction who told ### find work But it was a scam, now he’s being extorted. We have nothing to offer but out prayers that he will be free to come home. So many are in prison in this country since the war began. They don’t like Americans. And many other British are also detained. It’s a hopeless situation. Putting all our faith in God guidance and miracles. Lawyers want ten of thousands and then do nothing. It’s a frightening corrupt environment. News online writes about how terrible these us and how often it’s been happening. They even spoke of the problem in British parliament. neighbor had read. Young girls who were posting online with pictures of what scared them are also detained. From many countries.

We join you together in prayer with grateful hearts that you have put all your faith in God and have come to us asking for prayer in the mighty name of Jesus, through whom we have access to the Father and by whom we are saved.

We hear the heaviness of your burden for your husband, a gentle man and your beloved husband in the covenant of marriage, now detained far from home in a frightening and corrupt environment, caught in a scam and extortion, and we weep with you for all the others also detained there, including many Americans and British and young women, in this time of war and hostility. We honor your marriage and your faithfulness to him in this trial, and we stand with you asking God for his protection, justice, and miraculous deliverance.

We take comfort in the Word that reminds us that no prison wall or corrupt system is beyond the reach of our God. Psalm 34:17 says The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. And Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. We cling also to Isaiah 41:10 where the Lord says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We remember how You delivered Peter when the church prayed earnestly, and suddenly an angel of the Lord stood by him and his chains fell off, as in Acts 12:7, for nothing is impossible with You.

We pray together now. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear husband to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see him where he is, You know his name, You know his innocence and his gentle spirit, and You see the extortion and corruption surrounding him. We ask for Your divine protection over his body, mind and spirit, keep him from harm, from despair and from injustice. Let Your presence be his comfort and his guard day and night. We ask for a miracle of release, that the doors would be opened and he would be free to come home to his wife. Move upon the hearts of those in authority, expose corruption, and let justice roll on like waters. We pray for favor with the officials, for honest advocates to arise on his behalf where lawyers have failed, and for the United States authorities and others who can intervene to act with urgency and wisdom. Comfort this dear wife who waits, strengthen her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding as promised in Philippians 4:7, guard her heart from fear and hopelessness, and provide for all her needs while she waits. We also lift up every other person detained there unjustly, the British detainees and the young girls and all who are afraid, that You would be their refuge and bring them also to freedom. We ask that even in this hopeless situation, Your will be done and Your name be glorified, and that this trial would be a testimony of Your endless mercy and power to deliver. We thank You that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name, for Romans 8:28 reminds us that we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. We trust You to work even this for good. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to cry out to the Lord daily, to rest in His Word, and to keep seeking help through every lawful means He has provided, including persistent contact with the United States Embassy and State Department, and with your representatives in Congress who can make inquiries on behalf of an American detained abroad, while trusting not in man but in God who can open doors no man can shut. Keep a record of all that has happened, share truthfully with those who can advocate, and lean on your church family and trusted believers for support and intercession. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He has not forgotten your husband nor you. We continue to stand with you in prayer for his safe return home.

We were so moved to read your note and learn about your husband's detention. It is understandable to feel frightened and helpless when he is far away in a confusing and corrupt system, and when so much feels out of your hands. We are praying for you both and we will keep praying.

When systems feel corrupt and lawyers ask for large sums with little help, it can help to stay connected to the official channels that are there for Americans abroad. If you have not already, we encourage you to stay in close contact with the US State Department's consular services and the nearest US Embassy for guidance and to keep a careful record of any requests for money or documents. A trusted pastor or a small circle of family and friends who can walk with you day by day can also be a steady support while you wait, so you do not carry this alone.

We do not have answers for why this is happening, but we believe God sees your husband, knows where he is, and hears your prayers. We are asking God to be near to you both in this long waiting.

Father, we lift this husband to You and ask for Your protection over him, for wisdom for those who can help secure his release, and for Your peace to guard his wife's heart as she waits. Lead them step by step and bring help in Your timing. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your heavy burden has been laid before the Lord and heard with deep sorrow and earnest prayer. The account of your husband, a gentle man taken far from home by a cruel deceit and now held where extortion and corruption abound, moves every tender heart to cry for mercy. To be helpless before such power, to find that those who should plead for justice ask many thousands and do nothing, and to hear that many others, both Americans and British, and even young girls, are likewise detained, is indeed to be wearied in the length of your way.

In such a place man can say, There is no hope. There is no hope in the arm of flesh, no hope in bribes or in the promises of corrupt men, no hope in the wisdom of this world. Yet the Scripture teaches us there is a hope which lives when all other hope dies. There is no hope for us in ourselves, but there is hope for us in Him whom God has provided to be the Saviour. When the pit seems deep and the prison door is shut, God has found a ransom. He has not forgotten His own.

We are taught that He brought forth His people of old when the lamb was slain, and though Pharaoh held them fast through many plagues, he could not hold them beyond the appointed hour. So still the Lord brings forth His own. He hears the cry of the prisoner and the sigh of the desolate. Though you feel you have nothing to offer but prayers, prayers are not nothing. They move the arm that moves the world. We have carried your husband before the throne of grace, that the Lord would be his keeper in that frightening place, that He would guard his body and sustain his spirit, restrain the hand of the oppressor, and make a way for his deliverance and his safe return home.

We have prayed also for all who are detained with him in that land since the war began, for the British prisoners of whom you speak, and for those young girls and others from many countries whose distress has been made known. May the Lord who is the Husband and Defender of His people show Himself strong on behalf of the helpless, bring to light what is done in darkness, and turn the hearts of those in power toward justice and mercy. May He raise up honest help where dishonest men have sought gain, and may He frustrate every scheme of extortion.

Take comfort that Jesus Christ, your brother and your head, does not forget His own. He did not forget Jacob at the brook Jabbok, nor Simeon though he was a hostage, and He will not forget you now. Cast yourself wholly upon Him who alone is our hope of eternal life and our deliverance in every trouble. He feels that if deliverance comes it must be of free grace only, and free grace is His to give.

We will continue to pray that the clock of mercy may strike the hour of deliverance, that your husband may yet say, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord, and that you together may give your hearty assent to His salvation and say, He brought him forth. May the Lord in His endless mercy keep you in perfect peace as you trust in Him, and grant you to see His good hand at work, through Jesus Christ our only Saviour and Advocate. Amen.
