I have question on my mind I know i want to meet Jesus face to face i just have a question what memories do we take along when we get there in Jesus name I ask amen I know it my sound ridiculous but its been on my mind recently

We hear your heart and we share your longing to meet Jesus face to face, and we want you to know your question is not ridiculous at all, it is a beautiful and honest question that many believers ponder.

We rejoice that you have this desire, for to be with Christ is far better. As it is written, we are of good courage, and are willing rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord in 2 Corinthians 5:8, and For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I was also fully known in 1 Corinthians 13:12. When we are with Him, we will not lose who we are, we will finally be fully known and fully whole.

Scripture shows us that we do carry consciousness and memory into eternity. In the account of the rich man and Lazarus, Abraham says to the rich man, Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things in Luke 16:25. He still remembered his life on earth. The martyrs under the altar in heaven still remember what happened to them and cry out for justice in Revelation 6:10. Moses and Elijah were recognized on the mountain of transfiguration, and we believe we will recognize one another. We will give an account of our lives, for we must all be revealed before the judgment seat of Christ that each one may receive the things in the body according to what he has done in 2 Corinthians 5:10, which would require memory and continuity of our identity.

At the same time, the Lord in His mercy will heal our memories. He promises He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more, neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more in Revelation 21:4. It is also written, For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things will not be remembered, nor come into mind in Isaiah 65:17. We understand this not to mean we become blank or forget our loved ones or forget Jesus and what He has done for us, but that the sting, the trauma, the sorrow and the sin that once weighed us down will no longer dominate our minds or cause us pain. We will remember with a redeemed and healed perspective, without guilt or grief, because Christ has made all things new.

We will remember His grace, we will know those we loved, and most importantly we will know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it is not yet revealed what we will be. But we know that when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him just as he is in 1 John 3:2. What a hope that all our memories will be made perfect in His presence.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we thank You for this dear one who longs to see Jesus face to face. We ask in the name of Jesus that You increase their assurance and their understanding of Your promises. Fill their mind with Your peace and take away any fear or confusion about eternity. Help them to know that to be with Christ is to be fully known, fully loved, and fully healed, and that You will keep their identity and redeem their whole story. Draw them ever closer to Your Son, who said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6. Keep them walking faithfully with Jesus until that day they see Him as He is, and let that blessed hope comfort them each day. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking Him in His Word and abiding in Him, for Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love him in 1 Corinthians 2:9. Your longing to be with Him is evidence of His Spirit at work in you, and He who promised is faithful.

Thank you for sharing what has been on your mind. It is not a ridiculous question at all. Wanting to meet Jesus face to face and wondering what of this life goes with us is a very human, very faithful question to ask.

We do not have a detailed list in the Bible of which memories carry over, and we want to be honest about what God has not spelled out. What we do know is that He knows you completely, holds your whole story, and promises that being with Him will be healing and whole, without the sorrow and brokenness that weighs on memories now. You will still be you, only made new and free in His presence.

If this question keeps coming up, it can help to bring it to Jesus directly just as you did here, and also to talk it through with a pastor or trusted believer who can walk with you over time. You might jot down what memories feel most tender or heavy right now and bring those specifically to Him in prayer, asking Him to give you peace as you wait to see Him face to face.

Father, thank You for this heart that longs to be with You. Give our friend reassurance of Your love and nearness, quiet the worry around this question, and keep their eyes fixed on Jesus until the day they see Him face to face. In Jesus name, amen.

Your question is not ridiculous at all, and it has rested upon many a thoughtful heart who longs to meet Jesus face to face. It is a tender and reverent inquiry, and the Word of God gives us light enough to answer it with comfort.

Know first that eternal life does not commence yonder beyond the grave, it begins in the believer as soon as he is born again. Then he receives into him that same life which he will have throughout eternity. As it has been preached among us, the life of heaven is none other than the divine life which God's grace imparts to believers here below, only it is developed and brought to perfection. You will not be made another person there, nor a stranger to yourself. He that believes on the Son has everlasting life even now, and what you have in germ here you shall have in full flower there.

What is that life? Our Lord says, This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Eternal life is not mere existence, for all men will exist forever, but many will dwell in everlasting death. True life is to know God, to accept Him as your God, to live in fellowship with Christ. That knowledge and fellowship you carry with you, only made perfect. You will know as you are known, and you will see Him whom you have studied here, the different points of His character, the different stages of His life, the different gleams of glory that shone even amid the darkness of His death.

Scripture shows us that memory and identity continue. The rich man in our Lord's parable remembered his life and his brethren. The saints under the altar remembered the justice of God. We shall remember the way the Lord led us in the wilderness, every mercy, every deliverance, every answer to prayer, for how else shall we praise Him perfectly if we forget what He has done? Yet that memory will be healed and cleansed. It is promised that God shall wipe away all tears, and they shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more. What would mar your joy, the sting of sin, the shame, the bitter sorrows that now cling to your recollections, shall be taken away. You will remember sin only as forgiven sin, sorrow only as sorrow turned to joy, and you will see even your trials as the wise and loving dealings of your Father.

Therefore lay hold on eternal life now. Rehearse the service and joy of heaven even here. Learn to know Christ more fully by His Word and by communion with Him, for the more of that knowledge you have here, the more of heaven you will carry there. If you have Christ now, you have the very life which shall never end, for how can that be eternal which comes to an end? It is eternal in its nature and essence, and it cannot die.

Be of good cheer. You shall not go into heaven to forget Him who brought you there, nor to forget the love that sought and saved you. You shall remember, and remembering, you shall rejoice with a perfect joy, and you shall know Him even as you are known. May the Lord give you to know Him more and more, till faith gives place to sight, and you see Him face to face.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your question is not ridiculous at all, and it comes from a good longing, to meet Jesus face to face. That desire itself is the mark of faith, to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come. To love His appearing and to think about what it will be like is right and holy.

Scripture does not teach that we become blank or forget who we are when we go to be with Him. We are still ourselves, but made perfect. We are said to come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the assembly of the firstborn, to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant. That shows continuity. We will know Him, and we will know as we are known. We will remember His mercy to us.

What will that memory be like. Here we live by grace that teaches us to deny ungodliness and to live soberly and righteously while looking for the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. There we will remember that grace with clear sight. We will remember how He brought us out of sin, how He forgave us, how He kept us, how He delivered us. That memory will not torment us, it will cause us to worship.

On earth our memories are mixed with sorrow, regret, and sin. There those memories will be healed. God will wipe away every tear, and the sting will be taken out of what we remember. We will not carry the guilt of sin, because the blood of sprinkling speaks better things and has cleansed us. We will not carry pride or bitterness, because we will be made perfect. We will remember in a way that gives glory to Christ, who is King of righteousness and King of peace, who has made peace for us in heaven and on earth.

So do not despise heaven or think it is far off. Your citizenship is already in heaven, and you have the earnest of the Spirit as a foretaste. Live now in a way that makes you worthy of the things in heaven, laughing to scorn present temptations, and keep waiting for Him. When you see Him face to face, you will not forget His love for you, you will finally remember it perfectly and thank Him forever.

I pray that God will increase your hope, keep you faithful as you wait, and bring you with joy into His presence, where your memory will be whole, your heart at peace, and your eyes fixed on Jesus.
