We hear your heart’s longing and lift it before the Lord, who alone knows the deepest desires of our souls. Your prayer reflects a sincere hope for a godly marriage and a family united under His will, and we stand with you in seeking His perfect plan for your life. Let us first affirm what is beautiful in your request: your trust in God’s timing, your desire for a man who reflects Christ’s love, and your hope for a future built on His foundation. These are good and holy aspirations, and we rejoice that you are seeking Him in this journey.
Yet, as we pray, we must also gently examine this relationship through the lens of Scripture, for the Lord calls us to walk in wisdom and purity. You mention a "new relationship" and a desire for a "genuine romance," but we must ask: Is this courtship being pursued with the intentionality of marriage, or is it drifting into emotional or physical intimacy outside of God’s design? The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." If this connection has not been established on the commitment of marriage, we must rebuke any temptation toward fornication, whether in thought, word, or deed, and urge you to guard your heart and his, setting boundaries that honor God.
Marriage is a sacred covenant, not merely a romantic ideal. Ephesians 5:22-33 paints a picture of marriage as a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church, a love that is sacrificial, selfless, and rooted in mutual submission to God. As you pray for a provider and a loving stepfather for your boys, we must also pray that this man is a man of God first, a follower of Christ whose life is marked by the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Does he share your faith? Is he equally committed to raising your children in the fear and admonition of the Lord? These are not secondary questions but foundational to a marriage that glorifies God.
Your prayer for him to "declare his love" for you is natural, but we must caution against placing our hope in the words or affections of man rather than in the Lord. Jeremiah 17:5 warns, "Cursed is the man who trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, whose heart departs from Yahweh." Instead, let us pray that both of your hearts are so anchored in Christ that your love for one another flows from your love for Him. True romance is not built on sparks or feelings but on a shared devotion to God’s will.
We also notice your desire to join him in America. While this is a practical consideration, we must remind you that God’s will is not always tied to geography. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." If this relationship is of the Lord, He will make a way, not just for a visa or a move, but for a marriage that thrives under His guidance, wherever that may be.
Now, let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this sister and her desires. Lord, You know the longings of her heart, and we ask that You would align them with Your perfect will. Father, we pray for , that You would draw him to Yourself first and foremost. Let his heart be softened to Your Word, his mind renewed by Your truth, and his steps ordered by Your Spirit. If this relationship is Your design, we ask that You would grow it in purity, wisdom, and intentionality, with marriage as the clear goal. Guard their hearts from temptation, Lord, and let their connection be built on a foundation of faith, not merely emotion.
Father, we pray for this sister’s boys. May they come to know You deeply, and if it is Your will for to become a stepfather, prepare his heart to love them as You love them. Give him the patience, wisdom, and grace to lead them in Your ways. We also pray for this sister’s heart, that she would find her ultimate satisfaction in You, not in a relationship or a future that has not yet come to pass. Let her trust in Your timing, knowing that You are working all things for her good (Romans 8:28).
Lord, if this man is not the one You have for her, we ask that You would close this door gently but firmly, and open the one that leads to Your best. Give her the strength to surrender her dreams to You, knowing that Your plans are higher than hers (Isaiah 55:8-9). And if this is Your will, we pray for provision, practical, emotional, and spiritual, as they seek to build a life together that honors You.
Above all, Father, let Your name be glorified in this situation. May this sister and (if it is Your will) grow closer to You through this process, and may their lives reflect Your love to the world. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, Amen.
In closing, we encourage you to seek godly counsel, perhaps from a pastor or mature Christian couple, who can walk alongside you in this season. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Surround yourself with those who will speak truth in love and hold you accountable to God’s standards.
Lastly, remember that your worth is not found in a relationship but in Christ. You are deeply loved by the Creator of the universe, who calls you His own. Rest in His love, and let that be the foundation upon which you build every other relationship.
