[Articles]

We join you in seeking the Father's perfect will and asking for clarity, truth, guidance and revelation, and we thank you for asking in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that our hearts are opened to truth.

We love your heart cry for the Holy Spirit to touch your heart with truth and for the Father's will to be done. That is the very prayer Jesus taught us when He said Your Kingdom come. Your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Matthew 6:10. God desires to give you understanding and He promises to lead those who seek Him with all their heart.

We are encouraged by His promises to you. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105. I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. Psalm 32:8.

The Lord also promises wisdom and revelation through His Spirit when we ask. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5. However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself, but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming. John 16:13. Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and difficult things, which you don’t know. Jeremiah 33:3.

We pray together for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this seeking heart to You and we thank You that You desire to reveal Yourself and Your plan. We ask that You pour out Your Holy Spirit upon this life and touch the heart with Your truth. Remove confusion and give clear understanding and clarity. Guide every step according to Your perfect will and let Your will be done in every area of life as it is in heaven. Open the eyes of the heart to see Your way and open the ears to hear Your voice. Let Your Word be the source of truth and let the Spirit of truth lead into all truth. Grant revelation that brings peace and confidence in Your plan, and help this dear one to walk by faith trusting that You are directing the path. We ask for a deeper hunger for Your Word and for time in prayer where Your counsel is heard clearly. We trust You to answer liberally and to make the path straight. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily through prayer and through reading His Word, for that is where He reveals His will and transforms our minds. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2. As you abide in Him and acknowledge Him in all your ways, He will give you the guidance and peace you are seeking, and the Holy Spirit will confirm His truth in your heart.

We hear the deep desire in your words for truth and clarity and for the Holy Spirit to make God's will real in your heart. That hunger itself matters to God, and we are grateful you brought it honestly before Him.

Wanting clear direction is a good and humble place to be. Sometimes we expect guidance to come all at once, but we have found it often comes more like learning to recognize a trusted voice over time, through quiet prayer, through what God has already said, and through the counsel of people who know us and love Jesus. Your simple prayer, Your will be done, is a strong anchor while you wait.

One small step that may help this week is to give that prayer a little unhurried space each day. Find ten or fifteen minutes without distraction, pray those words in your own way, sit quietly for a few minutes to listen, and jot down what questions or thoughts come. Then consider sharing what you are noticing with one mature believer you trust, not for them to decide for you, but to help you weigh what you are hearing with care.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask You to draw near and touch their heart with Your truth and peace. Give clarity where there is confusion and patience where answers are still unfolding. Lead them step by step by Your Spirit, and help them rest in Your care and Your will. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

[Spurgeon]

Your prayer for understanding and clarity and truth is itself a work of grace, for the heart that cries Thy will be done has already begun to be taught of God. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, so His will is the great heart of providence sending its pulsings through even the most distant limbs of human life, and in grace we may rest assured that He is King, willing to do as He pleases, having mercy on whom He will have mercy.

You ask for the touch of the Holy Spirit upon your heart with the truth, and this is the very thing you must seek above all else. Life does not lie latent in natural men for themselves to stir up, until the Holy Spirit visits them they are dead in trespasses and sins. He is the Author of all spiritual life. The question put to every believer is, Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed. He is not to be sought as a vague influence, for the Holy Spirit glorifies Christ. He will receive of Mine and show it to you. He deals with the things of Christ and He declares them to feeble men. Therefore if you would have truth and revelation and guidance, look to Christ. The Spirit of God will not set His seal to what man says of himself, but He will confirm the testimony of Jesus Christ. Ask Him to take of what is Christ's, His person, His blood, His righteousness, His engagements to save sinners, and to show it to you, for there is life and force and power in that sight alone.

Learn also what it is to pray in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is actually willing to help you to pray, to tell you how to pray and to work in you to will to do of His own good pleasure. Though the will of man is not ignored, the work of the Spirit which is the effect of the will of God is to change the human will and so make men willing in the day of God's power. Bring your prayer into that crucible, praying in the Holy Spirit, and your will when so influenced becomes the indicator of God's will.

And take heed that you grieve not the Holy Spirit by whom you are sealed. He is grieved by unbelief, by unholiness of life, by walking not according to the Gospel, and by that which is contrary to His Word and to sound doctrine. Live in the Holy Spirit, give yourself up fully to His divine anointing, and purge from your life what you know to be against His Word, that His power may be manifest in you.

Hear what the Holy Spirit says, Today if you will hear His voice, harden not your hearts. Today is the set time for hearing God's voice, while God speaks. Do not put off obedience or trust for another day. Cry mightily unto God for the Spirit, for He will be enquired of to do it for you, and wait upon Him in the Scriptures where His voice is heard.

May the Lord grant you not a spirit of confusion but of truth, may He make you willing in the day of His power, and may the Holy Spirit take of the things of Christ and show them to you, that you may know the will of the Father and walk in it with peace. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom alone is salvation, Amen.
