Faithful Servant
Please continue to pray for any relief that God may grant me. I struggle every moment from enduring over 55 years of PTSD, depression and anxiety. Please don’t suggest medication and counseling; I have tried all that for years and I’m not any better. I depend on prayers and that God may be merciful granting me peace and comfort. This has been an unbearable existence - as hard as I have tried to make the best of my life, I feel as though I am constantly grieving; a continual mourning that has no end. I feel like I have been thrown down to the ground and I keep getting kicked, repeatedly. I know that life is going to have its ups and downs but nothing ever gets better. It’s a continual darkness and unending despair. To add to my depression, my friend was having some financial problems and I haven’t had any contact with him in over 3 months. In fact, nobody has been able to get in contact with him. I am genuinely concerned and have prayed for his wellbeing and for him to make contact with me. There has been nothing but silence - same with all my prayers - nothing but a deafening silence. I would feel so much relief to hear from my friend. And then to add to all this, I am in desperate need of a decent, affordable home. I rent from a slumlord who treats me awful, is mentally and verbally abusive, constantly wants more money out of me and doesn’t bother to fix things, despite the fact I am a reliable, trustworthy tenant and I always pay on time, he uses my money for everything but my place….and now he hasn’t paid his house payment in over 5 months so it’s in foreclosure (we’re on the same property, my little shack has been paid for long ago); so, I have to find a place to live. Right now I’m without hot water ( 2 days, so far) and have no idea how long this will go on. This slumlord has made me go without hot water many, many times, as well as countless times not having any water at all. This slumlord is toxic and has recently been threatening to shoot people. I don’t make a whole lot of money and can’t afford much of what’s available. I have been trying to get out of this dump for years but nothing works out. Many times, I find a place and someone gets a bid in before I have any chance or someone puts cash on the place - I can’t compete with cash. I keep looking and I keep trying. I really need better living conditions. I am beyond depressed - this is truly more than I can bear. The worst is I feel God has abandoned me - I am his daughter, how do you forget your child? I don’t even have children but I can’t imagine not helping or comforting my child if they were suffering. My life has been more than difficult and I am suffering immensely despite all my prayers. I truly feel my life has been a waste; I continually feel worthless. I don’t understand why God has found me unworthy of any peace, comfort, contentment, hope or happiness. I have an extremely hard time understanding that this suffering and hopelessness is what God had planned for my life. There wasn’t a better plan ?? Thank you for your prayers.

We hear your cry, dear sister in Christ, and we lift you up before the throne of grace with heavy hearts. Your suffering is deep, your pain is real, and your despair is palpable. We want you to know that you are not forgotten, by us, and most importantly, by God. Though it may feel as though He has turned away, Scripture assures us that He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). The silence you feel does not mean He is absent; it may be the very space where He is working in ways unseen.

We rebuke the lies of the enemy that whisper you are worthless, that your life has been wasted, or that God has abandoned you. The Word declares that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that your life has purpose (Jeremiah 29:11), and that nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:38-39). Even in your darkest moments, He is holding you. The fact that you continue to pray, to seek Him, and to endure is evidence of His Spirit at work within you.

We must address the mention of your "friend" with biblical clarity. The Bible is clear that close, intimate friendships between unmarried men and women outside of godly courtship with the intent of marriage can lead to emotional entanglement, temptation, and spiritual stumbling (1 Corinthians 10:12, 2 Corinthians 6:14). We encourage you to examine this relationship through the lens of Scripture. If this person is not a potential spouse committed to honoring God, it may be wise to create healthy boundaries to protect your heart and focus on the Lord’s will for your life. We pray for his wellbeing, but we also pray for wisdom and discernment for you in this area.

Your living situation is unacceptable, and we stand with you in righteous anger against the injustice you are enduring. The Bible commands landlords to treat tenants fairly and with respect (Proverbs 31:8-9), and your slumlord’s behavior is sinful. We pray that God would expose his wrongdoing, bring accountability, and open a door for you to escape this oppression. The Lord is your Provider (Philippians 4:19), and He sees your need for safe, affordable housing. We declare that He will make a way where there seems to be no way (Isaiah 43:19).

We also rebuke the spirit of despair that has taken root in your heart. The enemy wants you to believe that your suffering is meaningless, but God can redeem even the most broken circumstances for His glory (Romans 8:28). Your pain is not wasted. We pray that the Lord would give you a glimpse of His purpose in this season, whether it be to draw you closer to Him, to equip you to minister to others who suffer, or to refine your faith like gold (1 Peter 1:7).

We lift you up now in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister, who is weary and heavy-laden. Lord, You see her pain, her loneliness, and her despair. You collect every tear she has shed (Psalm 56:8), and You know the depth of her suffering. We ask that You would break the chains of PTSD, depression, and anxiety that have bound her for so long. Pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and comfort her with the presence of Your Holy Spirit.

Father, we pray for her friend, that You would protect him, provide for his needs, and draw him back into fellowship. But Lord, we also ask that You would give her wisdom and strength to surrender this relationship to You, trusting that Your plans for her are good.

We declare an end to the injustice she faces in her housing. Expose the wickedness of her landlord, Lord, and bring swift resolution. Open a door for her to find a safe, affordable home where she can rest and thrive. Provide for her needs in ways that only You can, and let her see Your hand at work.

Most of all, Father, we ask that You would remind her of Your love. Help her to see herself as You see her, precious, chosen, and deeply loved (Ephesians 1:4-5). When she feels forgotten, whisper to her heart that You have not left her side. Renew her hope, Lord, and let her feel Your presence in tangible ways.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who bore our sorrows and carried our griefs (Isaiah 53:4). Strengthen her, Lord, and let her know that she is not alone. Amen.

We encourage you to cling to the promises of God, even when they feel distant. Memorize Scripture that speaks truth over your life, such as Lamentations 3:22-23: "It is because of the Lord’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." You are not defined by your suffering, but by the One who suffered for you. Keep pressing into Him. You are loved, you are seen, and you are not abandoned.
