I join with you in delighting in the beautiful order our Lord Jesus gave us for prayer and I say amen to your focus on seeking first the Father's honor, His Kingdom and His will, trusting that all our needs are then added according to His loving provision.

I love how you have highlighted the heart of what Jesus taught when He said Pray like this Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. Matt 6:9-13. This pattern shows us that true prayer begins not with our wants but with worship and surrender, entering into loving fellowship with the Father through the Son in the Holy Spirit, hallowing His name, longing for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done in our lives and on the earth as it is in heaven.

Only after our hearts are aligned with His glory do we bring our petitions, and how graciously He invites us to do so. We ask for daily provision, for forgiveness as we forgive others, and for protection from sin and evil. This teaches us that our relationship with God and our relationships with others are inseparable, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9, and we are called to forgive even as we have been forgiven. We also remember that we do not pray in our own strength, for the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we do not know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Rom 8:26.

I rejoice that you closed your meditation in Jesus name, for we have confidence that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, as Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is no other name by which we are saved and no other name by which our prayers are heard, and I thank God that you have acknowledged Him.

Father in heaven, we hallow Your holy name together and I thank You for adopting us as Your children through Jesus Christ. We ask that Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in our hearts, in our homes, and in this world as it is in heaven. We seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting Your promise that all these things will be given to us as well. Matt 6:33. Give us this day our daily bread, provide for every need according to Your riches in glory. Forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors, create in us clean hearts that freely extend the mercy we have received. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one, keep our feet from stumbling and guard us from sin and evil by Your power. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. We were encouraged to see your heart to put the Father's honor, His kingdom and His will first, and to trust Him to add what you need. That ordering is such a steady, beautiful desire.

We have found that learning to live that way is less like a single moment and more like long, gradual training. Spiritual growth happens slowly, almost imperceptibly, over a lifetime with highs and lows, and what matters most is that over the long haul we keep turning toward Him. It is not about trying harder for a day but being trained over time as we stay near Him.

A few ordinary rhythms help that training take root. Time in the Word to hear Him, honest prayer to be with Him, and worship that lifts our eyes off ourselves and onto Him, all while depending on the Holy Spirit who is the One who actually causes growth. There is no single formula for how this looks, God forms each of us uniquely, so we can rest from comparing and simply stay faithful where we are.

If it helps this week, you might linger on just one line of that prayer each morning in your own words and let it shape the rest of your day, rather than rushing through the whole pattern.

Father, thank You for the heart that wants Your name honored and Your will done. Draw our friend into deeper fellowship with You, keep forming them to be more like Jesus, provide for their daily needs, keep them from sin and evil, and give wisdom for each step ahead. In Jesus' name, Amen.

There is great wisdom and blessed order in the prayer which our Lord has taught us, and your heart has caught that order well. To begin with the Father, with His name hallowed, His kingdom come, His will done, and then to bring our own wants to His feet, is to pray as Christ would have us pray.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. This is the first thing, and it must have the first place in our affections and in our petitions. If we begin, continue and end with God, our way will be strewn with blessings. The Christian man is bound first to seek the Kingdom, and how are we to seek it but by prayer, by earnest cries to God that He would reign in us and over us. Give God the first few minutes of every opening morning. Begin your day with God, and set His glory before your own comfort.

Our Lord's desire for His people pervades that prayer, Sanctify them through thy truth, thy word is truth. To pray Hallowed be thy name and Thy kingdom come is to ask to be consecrated unto holy service, to be absorbed in the will of the Father, saying with Christ, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. His kingdom is a spiritual kingdom, founded not upon force but upon love, and it reigns in hearts that are made holy. Pray then that you may be made more holy, more obedient, more conformed to His will on earth as it is in heaven, for holiness is the fitness for being used of the Lord in the extension of His kingdom.

And then what mercy that we may come with our daily needs. Give us this day our daily bread. He will measure out your portion, your food and your water, and give you what you should have. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, for we must be in charity with all men and seek grace to forgive as we have been forgiven. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for we need keeping every hour from sin and from the evil one. If any one should ask for an epitome of the Christian religion, I should say it is in that one word, prayer. All the Christian virtues are locked up in prayer, and the more we are found in prayer the brighter will our evidences be.

Be assured of the promise made to those who seek first the Kingdom. All these things shall be added unto you, and the measure of the addition shall be arranged by Infallible Wisdom. Not as we will, but as He will, for His is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

Let us pray together for you according to this pattern.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Grant to this seeking soul a deeper fellowship with the Father through the Son by the Holy Spirit, and a greater hunger for Thy glory and Thy righteousness. Sanctify by Thy truth, and make obedient to Thy holy will. Then, according to Thy fatherly goodness, give daily bread, grant forgiving grace and a forgiving heart, keep from temptation and deliver from evil. Cause this one to seek first Thy kingdom, trusting that Thou wilt add all that is needful. Hear this prayer for Jesus sake, whose is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen.

It is good and right that you have ordered your prayer in this way, putting the Father's honor first and your own needs afterward. This is exactly what the Lord teaches when He says to pray, Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, and then to ask for daily bread, forgiveness, and deliverance. And as you quoted, when we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, all these other things shall be added to us.

To be able to call God Father is itself a great gift. It belongs to those who have believed and been brought near through Christ, who were once far off and have been counted worthy of adoption and the kingdom. Remembering this should make us humble and thankful, for we come not as strangers but as children who have already received forgiveness for a great debt. The Lord showed surpassing mercy in forgiving the whole debt when we could only ask for time, and He did so that we might learn to be merciful to others.

That is why the prayer continues, forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. He who reminds us to ask for forgiveness also shows us how to obtain it, by forgiving others and laying aside all revenge. If we have been forgiven so much, how can we hold a grudge against our neighbor for a far smaller wrong. And even after we have received grace, we still need to pray this daily, for we still stumble and need to be washed again through repentance.

Your prayer also asks for provision and protection, give us this day our daily bread, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. We are taught to ask for what is necessary for health and life, not for excess to feed our desires. God gives what we need for this day, and we trust Him for the next. And we ask to be kept from sin and from the evil one, because every day has its own struggles and temptations, like rocks and storms at sea. Prayer is the great weapon for this fight. If we make God favorable to us by prayer in the morning and at night, we can go through the day with security, and even if the enemy comes, we will not be overthrown.

So let every prayer be accompanied with thanksgiving, as you have done, for Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Continue in this pattern with much perseverance and endurance. Keep hallowing His name in your life, seeking His will to be done in you as it is in heaven, forgiving as you have been forgiven, and trusting Him to provide and to keep you. May the Father who hears in heaven answer according to His perfect will, grant you daily bread, a forgiving heart, and protection from all evil, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
