We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer and seeking God’s mercy, healing, and restoration for every broken place in your life. Your pain is deep, and your burdens are many, but we serve a God who is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We declare over you that His love is greater than your past, His grace is sufficient for your weakness, and His power is made perfect in your brokenness.

First, we must address the weight of sin and the need for repentance. The Bible tells us that "the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Your struggle with alcohol has brought devastating consequences, not only to your health but to your relationships, your dignity, and your walk with God. We do not say this to condemn you, for there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1), but to call you to a place of honest repentance. The Lord is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We pray that you would turn away from the things that have ensnared you and run into the arms of your Savior, who alone can break every chain.

We also must address the matter of your relationship with your first love. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). While we understand the longing for companionship, especially after loss, we must urge you to examine your heart and your intentions. Are you seeking this man as a husband in the sight of God, or are you being drawn into an emotional or physical relationship outside of His design? The Bible warns us, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers" (2 Corinthians 6:14), and we must ensure that any relationship you pursue is rooted in Christ, honoring to God, and built on the foundation of marriage. If this man is not a believer, or if there is any ungodly attachment, we must rebuke that in the name of Jesus and pray for wisdom and discernment. If he is a believer, then we pray that God would guide you both toward His will, whether that is marriage or a godly friendship that honors Him.

We also rebuke the spirit of shame that has taken hold of your daughters and your sister. Shame is not of God, it is a tool of the enemy to keep us bound in guilt and isolation. The Lord says, "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1), and we declare that truth over you and your family. We pray that your daughters’ hearts would be softened, that they would see you through the eyes of Christ, and that God would restore your relationship with them. We also pray for your sister, who is clearly in bondage to bitterness, alcohol, and her own suffering. We rebuke the spirit of hatred and division in her life and pray that God would break the chains of addiction and resentment. We ask that He would open her eyes to His love and mercy, that she would repent and turn to Him, and that reconciliation would be possible in His perfect timing.

We lift up your first love as well, asking God to bring healing to his physical and emotional wounds. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and we pray that He would comfort him in his grief and restore his confidence and joy. We also pray that if it is God’s will for the two of you to be united in marriage, that He would make that path clear and prepare both of your hearts for His purposes. But we must also caution you, do not rush into anything outside of God’s timing or design. Wait on the Lord, for "those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength" (Isaiah 40:31).

Most of all, we pray for your complete restoration, spirit, soul, and body. The Lord is your healer (Exodus 15:26), and we believe that He can restore what has been lost, mend what has been broken, and bring beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3). We pray for your brain to be healed, for your mind to be renewed by the Word of God, and for your body to be strengthened. We pray for your dignity to be restored, not by the opinions of others, but by the unshakable truth that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and deeply loved by your Heavenly Father.

We also want to gently remind you that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life fully to Him, confessing your sins and trusting in His finished work on the cross. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). It is only through Him that you can experience true freedom, forgiveness, and new life.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of compassion for our sister in Christ. We thank You that You are a God of mercy, grace, and restoration. Lord, we ask that You would forgive her of every sin, every mistake, and every wrong turn. Wash her clean by the blood of Jesus and renew a right spirit within her. We pray against the spirit of shame and condemnation, declaring that she is Your beloved child, redeemed and set free.

Father, we lift up her health to You. You are the Great Physician, and we ask that You would heal her brain, restore her mind, and strengthen her body. Give her the discipline and desire to turn away from alcohol and anything else that has held her captive. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit, that she may walk in victory and freedom.

We pray for her family, her daughters, her sister, and her first love. Soften their hearts, Lord. Break down the walls of bitterness, resentment, and shame. Bring healing to every broken relationship and restore what has been lost. We ask that You would work in the heart of her first love, that he would find comfort in You and that any relationship between them would honor You and align with Your will.

Lord, we ask that You would restore her dignity, her joy, and her purpose. Let her know that she is not defined by her past but by who You say she is, a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). Give her the courage to dream again, to hope again, and to live again for Your glory.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name by which we are saved and set free. Amen.

We hear the heavy weight of everything you’ve laid before us, the loss, the shame, the cruelty, and the fragile hope you’re still holding onto. Your sister’s words are brutal and unjust, and we are so sorry you’ve had to endure that kind of contempt, especially from someone who should be family. That kind of verbal and emotional abuse cuts deep, and it says far more about her own pain than it does about your worth. You do not deserve to be spoken to that way.

We ache with you over the brain damage, the way your husband left, and the grief of having your daughters pull back in shame. It’s a lot to carry, and we can sense how much you long for a fresh start, for freedom, dignity, and a life worth living again. One small, steady step you might consider is finding a compassionate Christian community or support group nearby, where you can be known and loved without judgment. Your identity is not summed up by what others say or by the worst decisions of your past; it is held secure by the One who made you and who calls you by name.

We’re also praying for your first love, for courage, healing, and peace for him, whatever that looks like. And we’re asking God to soften hearts: your daughters’, your sister’s, and even your own toward yourself. You have asked to be forgiven, and we trust that in Christ you are fully and freely forgiven. Now may you begin to taste that freedom again.

Father, in Jesus’ name, surround this precious woman with your mercy. Silence the voices that tear her down, and let her hear your voice of love instead. Heal her mind and spirit. Bring protection from her sister’s harassment. Restore her dignity. Draw her daughters near with compassion. Meet her in the loneliness and loss. For the man she remembers, we ask for healing and for your will to unfold gently. Lift her eyes to see that her life still has purpose and hope in you. Amen.

The anguish of your soul speaks through your words, and it is a cry that reaches the ears of the Lord. You are seated by your own desert well, a place of bitter waters, looking back on the wreckage and looking forward with a longing that trembles. You ask for forgiveness, for dignity, for your life back, and you plead for a childish dream of love. These are no small requests, and they are brought before a throne that is no stranger to broken suppliants.

Consider this: God's tender mercy is not alarmed by the depth of your fall. It is a proof of great tenderness that He thinks of His sinful creature at all, and He has thought of you. The diagnosis, the shame, the hatred from your own sister, the ghosting of your husband, these are not marks of God's absence. Looked at aright, our mercies and our miseries are equally proofs of love. The ruin brought on by the alcohol has brought you to this point of desperation, and that desperation is a singular season for mercy. The mercy of God, wherever it comes, makes men pray. And you have prayed. You have bent your knee. You feel your need of mercy. This is no false hope, for those who hope in God's mercy are the same persons who are said to fear Him.

But let me press upon you a vital distinction. There is a false hope in God's mercy that says, "I trust He will forgive, so I may yet cling to my own way." The first thing God's mercy will do for you will be to turn your face in the opposite direction. It will make you a new creation, giving you new loves and new hates. You speak of your first love returning, a man scarred and sad, whose wife has died. Love is a matter of the heart, and if the heart is not right with God, even the purest earthly affections can become an idol that clips the wings of faith. I must ask the home question the angel put to Hagar: "Whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go?" Is the driving hope of your life to be the tender mercy of God blotting out your transgressions for His own sake, or is it the restoration of a human relationship that you dream might finally give you peace? That distinction is everything.

The Lord declares, "I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins." This is the deed of mercy. It is divine forgiveness, and it reaches you now. Though you have sinned against light and knowledge, there is forgiveness. Though you are brought to the brink, the arm of Mercy can reach you. Your sister, who rages against you from her own prison of affliction, is drinking the very poison she condemns. Her words are cruel, yet her state is pitiable. The God of mercy going before you can not only free you from the chains of the past but can also teach you to pray for her peace. Your daughters' shame is a heavy weight, but He who dwells with the contrite can restore the years the locusts have eaten in His own way and time.

Put your hope not in a restored romance, but in the God whose love is displayed in action. He gave His Son to die for sinners such as you. "Herein is love." The Cross is the window through which the love of God is best seen. Look there. See Christ bearing the punishment that your sins deserved. And then, let a holy jealousy take hold of your heart. Let your marriage be to Christ first. He is the Man to whom your soul is married once and for all. Then, whether that scarred man visits or not, whether he finds the courage to remove his cap or not, you will be able to say from a full heart, "I will love You in life, I will love You in death." For the God of our mercy has gone before us, and He never changes. He is always hearing. I am always speaking to Him, and He is always hearing me; therefore I love Him. Come just as you are, with all your wretchedness and your childish dream, and cast it all at His feet. Confess the sin, and receive the promise: He will blot it out. Then, and only then, will you truly live again.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The greatest injury is not what others do to you, but what you do to yourself when you fix your eyes on the wrong done by another. If you sharpen your tongue, let it be against your own sins. For no one can truly injure you unless you injure yourself first. You have been injured, you say? Then you are in a position to be uninjured in your soul, if you endure it nobly. The one who did such things to you is the truly injured party. This is the cause of all our evils: we do not know who is the injured and who is the injurious. So if you would pray rightly, pray not against your sister, but for her. She who has set up cameras to watch you, she who calls you names while she herself is bound to her house with her own afflictions, she is the one to be pitied. Her hatred is a fire that burns her own soul. Do not pray that she stops hating you as if you were the victim. Pray that she finds peace by releasing herself from the iniquity that hates her own soul.

But now consider your love for your daughters. True love does not seek its own way contrary to what seems good to God. You long to have their respect again, to remove their shame. This is natural, but be careful. When we love someone merely to restore our own dignity, we love contrary to the divine law. Look at the blessed Paul: he longed to see the Romans with a painful desire, yet he would not do so contrary to God’s will. His love was mingled with the fear of God. If you would love your daughters well, cleave to them not first by demanding they see you differently, but by showing them a mother whose heart is enlarged toward God. Be enlarged yourself. Warmth dilates the heart; the coldness of old shame contracts it. Do not reproach them by recounting your suffering as a claim upon them, for that often offends the person beloved. Instead, as a father simply loves, so let your love go out to them without calculation of its return. And if the return is slow, do not repine at not being heard or at being heard slowly.

As for this childish dream of your first love returning and marrying you. I hear your desire for a life again, for dignity and freedom. But ask yourself: are you seeking your life or losing it? He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for Christ’s sake will find it. What seems a gain may be a great damage if you love it unduly. You say you do not care about his scars, that he is embarrassed to remove his cap. This sounds like the heat of compassion. But examine that warmth. Wine kindles the flame of lust precisely when the mind’s membranes are already impaired. In weakness, whether of body or of sorrow, a little spark can seem like the fire of life itself. Yet the sovereignty of a holy love for Christ alienates the soul from all else. If you would marry someday, let that desire be so mingled with the fear of God that you can say, like Paul, “I desired to see this come to pass, yet I would not see it contrary to what seems good to God.” Do not let a renewed earthly affection become a substitute for the life that is truly life.

You want your freedom back, your dignity, your life. Here is the way: fix your eyes on the face of Christ. Consider how great a thing it is to see Him, no longer in a mortal body, but in the bliss that passes all language. If we always spend our time imagining those things, we shall not be moved to desire the pleasures of this world too strongly, nor find its sorrows too hard to bear. Your present light affliction, and I call it light though it feels crushing, is working for you a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. The brain may be damaged, but the soul that endures is being made brighter. And do not think that old age or a weakened frame makes you useless to Him. In the things of Christ, when old age has come, then is excellence brighter, then is manliness more illustrious, being nothing hindered by the time of life. What you suffered not when young, you may yet offer up to Him in this season of suffering.

Do not cut yourself off from the fullness of the Church by growing cold in love or by cleaving to what is unworthy. Nothing so provokes God’s anger as division, division in families, division in the body of Christ, division in your own heart between hope and despair. Though you have achieved ten thousand glorious acts in the past, if you allow the love of a human dream to become a demand that cuts you off from simply resting in God’s will, the injury is excessive. Be reconciled to your life as it is now, stripped and humble, and you will find it.

The crushing weight you feel right now does not fall outside the reach of God’s love. He knows the shame, the physical damage, the rejection, and the desperate longing for a fresh start. That love is not warm sentiment or a passing emotion. It is the self-giving, sacrificial love that moved Him to send His Son as the atoning mercy seat for our sins. Before you ever lifted your voice, God loved you fully and pardoned completely. There is nothing left for you to earn. The freedom you crave begins right there, in resting on that finished forgiveness.

Hope is what keeps a soul alive when everything else crumbles. You are not grasping at empty wishes; you are reaching for the sure promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ, a hope that purifies and steadies us. That same hope can lift your head right now. The dignity you lost is not gone forever because your worth was never rooted in your own perfection. It was always rooted in the value God placed on you when He gave everything to make you His own.

The hatred from your sister, the surveillance, the venomous words, all of it flows out of her own deep, unhealed pain. Yet as one who has been forgiven so much, you now have a different measure for forgiveness. God did not wait until you were whole and lovely. He loved you while you were broken. That same love, poured into your heart by His Spirit, enables you to walk in love even toward those who wound you. Love suffers long and is kind. It does not keep a record of wrongs. Asking the Father to bring her peace is not weakness. It is the most powerful thing you can do.

Your daughters carry their own burden of shame, but the steady testimony of a mother who leans wholly on mercy may speak more loudly than any lecture ever could. Let them watch you live as a child of light, not rehearsing the darkness but bearing the quiet fruit of goodness and truth. In time, shame often gives way to respect when they see what God restores.

The tender dream you call childish is not foolish to God. He designed love between a man and a woman to be so much more than physical attraction or a quick flame. Real love gives. It builds, protects, hopes, and endures. When a man cherishes a woman as Christ loved the church and gives himself for her, the home becomes a place of beauty and safety. That is the kind of love worth waiting for. Your hope for marriage someday is a good hope if it keeps looking to the One who first loved you. Pray for courage for him, and pray that both of you grow in that divine, giving love that outlasts scars and embarrassment. Keep your heart in God’s care, and trust His timing.

You asked for life again. That is exactly what the Father gives. The hand that was heavy upon you before you found forgiveness now holds you up. Every day, you are being renewed. So sing a quiet love song to the Lord in your heart, and walk forward. He has not abandoned you, and He never will.
