Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Calm any anxiety, sharpen their mind, and grant them clarity and wisdom as they articulate their thoughts. May the words they speak be seasoned with grace, reflecting Your truth and purpose for their life.
We also ask, Lord, that You align this opportunity with Your perfect will. If this job is part of Your plan for their life, we pray for favor in the eyes of the interviewers, that they would see not only their skills and preparation but also the integrity and character You have cultivated in them. Let this moment be a testimony to Your faithfulness, that others may see Your hand at work in their life. But if this is not the path You have for them, we trust You to close this door gently and open another that is even better, according to Your perfect timing.

You speak of God’s favour for this interview, and well you may, for He is mighty and despiseth not any; it is His very greatness that ensures He does not turn away the soul that casts itself upon Him. But mark this: to seek His favour is not merely to desire a door of employment opened, but to desire that He go with you, that His presence be your portion whether the answer be yes or no. You have prepared, and that is right, for the servant who would speak on God’s behalf in any station must be diligent, yet remember, all our reading and practicing and watching of videos is but the gathering of smooth stones from the brook; it is the Lord who must direct them to the mark.
When I consider your request, I am drawn to Job, who in his agony would not conceal the words of the Holy One, nor turn aside from God’s way though his friends scorned him and his body was a furnace of affliction. He did not trust in his own uprightness, yet he could say, “I have not turned away from God.” Let that be your ground. You have prepared; now take care that you do not lean on that preparation as though it gave you a claim. The very ease with which you say “I am leaving everything else to God” must be tested. Is it a true resting, or a holy pretence? Lay your books and your notes and your practised speech before the throne, and say with Job, “My eyes pour out tears unto God.” Pour out your heart, not to men for their approval, but to the living God who sees in secret. The door of His grace is always open when every earthly door seems locked.
Do you ask what God’s favour looks like? It is not always a swift success. The Lord may grant quietness, and if He does, who then can make trouble? And if He withholds the post, it is not because He despises you, God is too great for that. His purpose is one; who can turn Him? He is mighty in strength of heart, and His Son is the answer to all our trembling questions. Christ has fulfilled every demand of justice and every yearning of the soul. Stand before the panel not as one who must win their nod by a clever presentation, but as one who has already been accepted in the Beloved. Then, whether they take you or pass you by, you shall still find God, for the longing of the believer is not ultimately for an earthly situation but for God Himself. Seek Him, and let the job be the lesser blessing that follows or falls away according to His wisdom.

You ask for God’s favour upon your interview, and you have labored with books and practice. This is well, for diligence in your calling is no sin, yet do not mistake that favour which you seek. The world imagines blessing as a door opened by human charm or a nod from the powerful, but the Father bestows true good as He will, not as man flatters. When Peter confessed Christ as the Son, our Lord declared that flesh and blood had not revealed it, but the Father in heaven. So too, if this employment is a place where you may serve God and not deny Him, pray that His hand guide the hearts of those who judge, not through earthly favoritism but by a divine prompting that overrules all.
Take care that the counsel you have absorbed from these books and videos does not become a snare, teaching you to speak as one who bends to the world’s whims. Evil communications corrupt good manners, as Scripture says, and even a well-intentioned adviser can lead you to trust in polished words rather than in the Lord. You say you leave the rest to God; see that you do so in truth, not as though you have done the real work and now merely ask for a final touch. Prepare your soul as diligently as your presentation, that you would rather lose a thousand opportunities than compromise the faith once delivered. If this role would lead you into community with ungodliness or require of you a silent tongue when Christ is dishonored, then no favor you seek could be a blessing but a hidden pit.

Job’s friends insisted that his suffering must be proof of some hidden sin, that if he just got right with God, his life would snap back into blessing. They were wrong. Job was not being punished; he was being tested, and God’s purposes ran far deeper than anyone could see. Through it all, Job did not understand, but he held on to God’s character.
You are not Job in ashes, but the principle remains. You are seeking a door of opportunity, and that is good. Yet we must remember that God’s favor is not a transaction we can unlock with enough faith or flawless technique. His love for you is settled once and for all in Jesus Christ, the One who stands between heaven and earth with a hand on both. Your sins are covered, your standing is secure, and your life is hidden in Him. So when you walk into that interview, you go as one already fully accepted, not as one trying to earn a blessing.
