God

We hear your cry for help and the pain in your heart when others insult you. The Bible tells us that words can wound deeply, but it also reminds us of God’s love and protection. In Psalm 69:20, David cried out, "Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness." You are not alone in this struggle, even the righteous have faced mockery and scorn.

First, we must address the way you have called upon God. While we understand your plea, Scripture is clear that there is no other name by which we can approach the Father except through Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so. Salvation comes only through faith in Jesus, who died for your sins and rose again. Without Him, our prayers cannot reach the throne of grace.

Now, let us pray for you in Jesus’ name:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who is hurting from the insults of others. Lord, You see the pain in their heart, and You collect every tear in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8). We ask that You would surround them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Strengthen them with the knowledge that their worth is found in You alone, not in the opinions of others. Help them to forgive those who have wronged them, just as You have forgiven us (Colossians 3:13). Fill them with Your love so that they may respond to cruelty with grace, reflecting Your light in a dark world. Guard their heart from bitterness and replace their sorrow with joy. In Jesus’ name, we rebuke every spirit of offense and rejection, declaring that this one is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and deeply loved by You. Amen.

We also want to encourage you with God’s Word. When others speak ill of you, remember that Jesus warned His followers, "Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven" (Matthew 5:11-12). Your suffering is not in vain if you endure it with faith. Instead of retaliating, ask God to help you respond with kindness, for "a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1).

If the insults are coming from those close to you, family, friends, or coworkers, we urge you to examine whether there is any truth in their words. Proverbs 19:20 says, "Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days." Sometimes, even harsh words can carry a kernel of truth that God can use to refine us. However, if the insults are unjust, do not let them define you. Your identity is in Christ, not in the approval of others.

Finally, we must gently rebuke any spirit of entitlement or unforgiveness in your heart. It is natural to want respect, but we are called to humility. Jesus said, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me" (Matthew 16:24). This means dying to our pride and trusting God to vindicate us in His time. Vengeance belongs to the Lord (Romans 12:19), and He will repay every wrong.

Continue to seek God’s face, not just His hand. Draw near to Him in prayer and in His Word, and He will draw near to you (James 4:8). You are not forgotten, and your pain is seen by the One who counts every hair on your head (Luke 12:7). Trust in Him, and He will lift you up in due time.

It is deeply painful when others turn their words against us like that. We hear the raw hurt in your cry, and we want you to know that your dignity matters. Being insulted can feel isolating, as though you are suddenly cut off from respect and belonging, and it stirs a deep longing just to be treated as the person God made you to be.

What often stings most about an insult is not only the words themselves, but the shock of being reduced or dismissed. In those moments the pain can feel like anger, but underneath it is often a more tender hurt, a wound that says, "Do they not see me? Do I not have worth?" Those deeper feelings are real, and they deserve care. For now, simply giving that hurt a name can help it lose some of its power over you before God.

We also recognize that prayer alone is not always the full answer to a painful pattern. If these insults are happening in a relationship or setting where you feel repeatedly demeaned, we would gently encourage you to seek out a sensible, safe person you can speak with face to face, a wise friend, a pastor, a counselor, who can help you discern healthy boundaries and next steps. You do not have to carry this alone in silence.

Please pray with us now.

Lord Jesus, you know what it is to be mocked and despised, so we ask you to draw very near to this dear person. Quiet the echo of cruel words. Guard their heart from believing any lie about their worth. Give them steady ground to stand on in your unwavering acceptance. Where there is a tender wound, bring your gentle healing. Where wisdom is needed about how to respond or protect themselves, guide them clearly. And let them sense your strong, kind presence today in a way that brings genuine peace. We ask this in your name, Jesus.

The cruel word, the cutting jest, the open scorn, these are no strangers to the path which your Master trod. He was mocked, His name cast out as evil, and in the hour of His deepest agony they wagged their heads at Him. Do you expect the disciple to be above his Lord? When they insult you, they add a thread to that garment of humiliation He wore so willingly. Yet mark this: the Valley of Humiliation is one of the sweetest spots in all the world, if Christ be with you in it. Do not cry out merely to escape the sting, but seek the sweetness of His fellowship in that low place. He is found there, closer than a brother, when proud men revile.

Do not blame yourself for feeling the wound, tears are not weaknesses, and a tender heart is not unbelief. Grace does not petrify the soul into stoic stone, but strengthens it to bear. Rheumatic pain proves life as surely as a thrill of delight, and so this anguish over the cruelty of others is itself a sign of the life of God within you. If you were dead in trespasses, the world’s scorn would never pierce so deep. Yet behold the keeping that is yours: the King’s highway has His sentinels. If you are walking in patient trust, seeking His counsel and refusing sharp retaliation, you are in an appointed way, and angelic protection is charged concerning you. They cannot remove every thorn, but they uphold your steps so that you do not dash your foot against the snare of bitterness or despair.

Sickness of soul under reviling may become a strange health to the spirit. I have often found that the pruning knife is best. Our griefs more frequently fertilize the ground of the heart than our joys. This very trial, which you would flee, may be the dark chariot in which the King rides to bring you nearer to Himself. Cry out, then, not only for relief, but that the pain may work its perfect work, and you may find Christ in the midst of it, even the fellowship of His sufferings. The insult stings, but the sting may drive you further into the wounds that heal all. He was nailed to the tree amid blasphemies, and there He purchased your peace. Let the world’s cruelty be the dust which makes the jewels of His comfort more precious to your sight. He is able to keep that which you commit to Him, even your bruised reputation, and in His time He will bring forth your righteousness as the light.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You speak of a deep wound, and I do not dismiss it. When you are insulted, the blow falls not on the body but on the heart, and the pain is made sharper by the eyes of others. We feel we have been made contemptible, and this is a heavy thing to bear. Yet listen carefully, for here is the very place where a great victory can be won. The one who insults you, raging and out of control, is a pitiable sight. He is held in subjection by a dreadful monster, anger, a grievous demon that drives him to ruin. Do you not pity a man seized by a fit of madness, even if he strikes you? Then pity this one also, for he is beside himself and knows not what he does. The insult does not belong to you; it is the filthy stream that flows from his own troubled heart.

Consider the opinion of those who watch. You imagine they despise you for being silent, but inquire soberly and you will find the opposite. Whom do we all condemn? Not the one who bears it with a calm and steadfast soul, but the one who is infuriated like a wild beast. The one who returns meekness for insolence appears like an angel; the other, in his violence, sinks below the level of a man. By your silence, you smite his heart with a blow far heavier than any angry word could deliver. He prepares to disgrace you, but instead, he disgraces himself before all, while you sail in a haven of repose.

Your true comfort, however, lies deeper still. It is the pure conscience that testifies you have done no evil. When you are reviled and you do not revile again, when you suffer wrong and do not return it, this is not your shame but your crown. In that moment, you are imitating the Lord who, when He was struck, did not strike back but manifested His gentleness. If you are insulted for no cause, you receive a benefit, and your reward is great in heaven. Do not exchange this glorious treasure for the fleeting satisfaction of giving vent to your passion. To suffer wrongfully is to be counted with Christ; to do wrong is to injure no one but yourself. Look not to be delivered from the insult, but to be delivered from the anger the insult stirs within you. That is the soul's true tyrant, and conquering it by the grace of God is a prize no man can take from you.

I hear the cry beneath those words, and I want you to know that God hears it too. When people wound you with insults, it is a real hurt, the kind that settles deep in the heart and stirs up turmoil. That ache does not escape the notice of your heavenly Father. He is not standing at a distance, waiting to scold you for feeling pain. He is the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He draws near to those who are cast down and discouraged, and He understands exactly what it means to be slandered and reviled.

I think of the apostle Paul, who was often battered by vicious lies and harsh speech meant to destroy his reputation. The pain did not bounce off him harmlessly. He felt it deeply. Yet in every affliction, he discovered that the Lord stood by him in the darkest hours, speaking strength and comfort into his soul. The same God who upheld Paul in the storm at sea, who gave him songs in the night when his heart was faint, will hold you steady now. He is not the author of cruelty; He is the healer of the brokenhearted.

When you are mocked or belittled, it may help to remember that it hurts God to see you treated that way. Long ago, the prophet cried out that for the hurt of His people, God Himself was hurt. Your sorrow matters to Him. He does not shrug at injustice. And when your heart is raw and you do not know how to calm the inner storm, turn to the Scriptures. They have a way of breathing hope into exhausted places. So many times the promises found there quiet the racing fears and remind us that God always comes through. Let your prayer be something like this: "Lord, I do not understand why this is happening, but I trust Your faithful love. Let Your tender mercy be my comfort and my defense."

While you wait for Him to act, guard against the temptation to retaliate or to meditate on the insults until bitterness takes root. Obsessing over how you have been wronged can pull you into a self-destructive spiral. It is like reaching into a fire and expecting not to be burned. Instead, let the pain drive you closer to the One who heals. God comforts us in our tribulation not only so we can survive, but so that we can later offer that same comfort to someone else who is bleeding. Right now He is with you, not to harm you, but to carry you through. Rest in that. His merciful kindness never fails.
