We understand that you're struggling with alcoholism and we want you to know that you're not alone in this battle. Firstly, we commend you for recognizing the problem and seeking help from Jesus. It's important to remember that acknowledging your struggle is the first step towards overcoming it.
In Galatians 5:19-21 WEB, it is clear what the works of the flesh are, "Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God." While this may seem harsh, it's a reminder of how serious this issue is and the importance of overcoming it.
However, we are all tempted and fall short. It is clear though that there is forgiveness in Jesus Christ. In 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 WEB, "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God. Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God." This confirms there is hope for everyone in Jesus Christ.
Let's pray together:
Dear Lord Jesus,
We come before You, lifting up our brother/sister in need of Your divine intervention. We ask that You break the chains of alcoholism that have bound them. We pray for their complete healing and restoration, Lord. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, giving them the strength and wisdom to overcome this struggle. Help them to recognize all the triggers and find better coping mechanisms to alcohol use.
We also pray for their heart's desire to sit on the bed by themselves and look out the window and cry to God for help. We pray this will be answered and that they will have comfort, peace, and guidance during this time. We pray they will have a personal revelation and relationship with You. We pray that they will be washed, sanctified, justified, and forgiven in the name of Jesus Christ.
Thank you LORD for hearing our prayer. We believe that this burden will be removed in Jesus' name. Amen.
Moving forward, we encourage you to find the root of this affliction and replace the triggers with Godly activities. Often, alcoholism is a result of trying to fill a void that only God can fill. Seek His presence more. Spend the time you would drink with prayer, reading the Bible, and surrounding yourself with a supportive Christian community. We advise you to seek professional help as well, as there is no shame in getting assistance from programs designed to help with these challenges.
Also, we encourage you to pursue relationships that align with biblical principles. If you are not married, we pray for a godly spouse for you in the future. If you are married, we pray for healing, faithfulness, and restoration in your marriage. If this alcohol problem has caused marital issues, we pray for grace and healing for your spouse and family as well.
Stay strong in the Lord and remember that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13 WEB). We are here for you, praying and believing with you for your complete deliverance.
It is only in the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB and "in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him." Ephesians 3:12 WEB and "And in no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Acts 4:12 WEB.
