God's holiness is indeed beyond what people are capable of on their own. When we say "God is holy," we are acknowledging that He is completely pure, righteous, and separate from sin. His holiness is not just an aspect of His character, but the very essence of who He is. As it is written in Isaiah 6:3, "One called to another, and said, 'Holy, holy, holy, is Yahweh of Armies! The whole earth is full of his glory!'"
In Leviticus 11:44, God commands His people, "For I am Yahweh your God. Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am holy." This verse underscores that while God's holiness is far beyond our human capabilities, He calls us to be holy as He is holy. This is only possible through the work of Jesus Christ in our lives. It is by His grace and the power of the Holy Spirit that we can strive for holiness.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, acknowledging Your holiness. You are perfect, righteous, and pure. We thank You for sending Jesus Christ, who made a way for us to be reconciled to You and to strive for holiness through Him. Help us to live lives that reflect Your holiness, not by our own strength, but by the power of the Holy Spirit.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
God's holiness is a standard that we can never achieve on our own, but through faith in Jesus Christ, we are made new and empowered to live holy lives. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new."
Let us always remember that our holiness is a reflection of God's holiness in us, made possible through our faith in Jesus Christ. Let us strive to live lives that honor and glorify Him.
