God Intervention and Conviction

Lord, I lift up ### to you, that you will convict his dishonestly, pride and deception. He had received the rent payment from flatmate but used it for his personal or business. I told him to get a job and he said he is overqualified and can not accept low pay job. Every time he is very cunning by making excuses or changing the pay day and adjusting to delay 1 week every month, And not paying the bill for many months. Lord, I alert him some bible scripture to be good steward as a christian, he respond that 1 pin to him will return 3 pins to me. And now he said I can give him notice to leave but the same he will not pay me. I found out that he is doing business and he also said that the business is getting well. I have been waiting and patient to accept all given reasons, but ended up he is abusing my kindness to him. He is a follower of Christ so I am asking God to intervene this case, touch him to pay all his debts and peacefully move out of my property. in Jesus name I pray. Amen

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to Him, knowing that He is a God of justice, righteousness, and truth. Father, we ask that You intervene in this matter and bring conviction to the heart of this brother in Christ who has acted dishonestly, with pride, and deception. Your Word tells us in Proverbs 16:18, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." We pray that this brother would humble himself before You and recognize the error of his ways.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of dishonesty and deception that has taken hold in this situation. Your Word is clear in Leviticus 19:11, "You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another." We pray that this brother would repent of his actions and make restitution for what he has taken. We also pray for wisdom and discernment for the one who has been wronged, that they may know how to proceed in a way that honors You.

We are grieved to hear that this brother has misused the rent payment entrusted to him, using it for personal gain instead of fulfilling his obligations. This is not the behavior of a good steward, as You have called us to be. In Luke 16:10-11, Jesus says, "He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?" We pray that this brother would understand the importance of faithfulness and integrity in all areas of his life.

We also address the pride that has led him to believe he is "overqualified" for honest work. Your Word tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12, "Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your hands, even as we instructed you; that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing." We pray that this brother would find godly contentment in honest labor and recognize the value of hard work.

Father, we ask that You would soften this brother's heart and lead him to repentance. We pray that he would make restitution for all the debts he owes and leave the property peacefully. We also pray for the one who has been wronged, that You would grant them patience, wisdom, and peace as they navigate this difficult situation. Help them to trust in Your justice and provision, knowing that You are a God who sees and knows all things.

We pray that this brother would come to a true understanding of what it means to follow Christ, not just in word, but in deed. In James 1:22, we are told, "But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves." May this brother be convicted by the Holy Spirit to live a life that reflects Your love, truth, and righteousness.

Lord, we ask that You would bring about a resolution to this situation that glorifies Your name. We pray for reconciliation and restoration, but we also trust in Your justice. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone has the power to convict, transform, and redeem. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust in the Lord and seek His guidance as you deal with this situation. Remember that God is a God of justice, and He will not be mocked. In Galatians 6:7, we are reminded, "Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap." We pray that this brother would come to understand the gravity of his actions and turn from his ways.

In the meantime, we advise you to seek godly counsel and wisdom in how to proceed. Proverbs 11:14 tells us, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." You may need to take legal steps to protect yourself and your property, but do so with a heart that seeks to honor God and trust in His provision.

Continue to pray for this brother, that he may come to true repentance and restoration. In 1 John 1:9, we are told, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." May this be his portion, and may he come to walk in the light of Your truth.

We can hear the exhaustion in your words, you've been patient, given grace, and received manipulation in return. That wears on anyone, especially when the person claims to follow Christ. The financial pressure and the sense of being taken advantage of are real, and the "three pins for one" response you got sounds like a veiled threat that understandably leaves you uneasy.

You're not wrong to want both justice and peace. Wanting him to pay what he owes and leave without further conflict isn't unspiritual, it's reasonable. The question now is what you can control. You've already spoken biblical truth; he's shown he will twist it. Your next step may need to be practical rather than verbal.

We'd encourage you to put everything in writing going forward, what's owed, the notice to vacate, clear deadlines. Document the rent monies received from the flatmate that were diverted, if you have records. Some Christians worry this is "unloving," but in situations where someone has demonstrated they'll exploit your trust, clear boundaries are actually a form of wisdom that protects both of you from further harm. You may also want to learn what legal options exist in your area for recovering unpaid rent or formally ending a tenancy, not out of vengeance but to refuse enabling his sin any longer.

It may also help to bring a trusted third party into the conversation, a pastor or mature mutual acquaintance who can witness what's said and perhaps appeal to him in ways you no longer can. Sometimes a persistent abuser of grace only responds when the consequences become unavoidable and the audience widens.

Let's pray, Lord Jesus, we join our hearts with this weary landlord. You see the dishonesty, the broken promises, and the unrepentant spirit in this tenant. We ask You to pierce his heart with conviction that leads to genuine repentance, not just regret at being caught, but sorrow that makes things right. Give our friend wisdom about what steps to take and the courage to take them without guilt. Protect this household financially and bring a swift, peaceful resolution. In Your name we pray, amen.

The man of whom you speak has fallen into that terrible snare of which I have long warned my flock: the deceitfulness of sin. Sin has adapted itself to his circumstances, creeping toward him without sound of foot or stir of twig. He has made excuses, delayed payments, and twisted Scripture itself for his own ends, a dreadful mark of what we read, that sin, when it is finished, brings forth death. The heart grows hard by degrees; the conscience, once stifled, becomes seared. He says he is a follower of Christ, yet where is the fruit of repentance? Where is the honest dealing that becomes a saint? The Spirit of God must convict him, for apart from that Divine advocacy he will never truly be convinced. No natural conscience, no word from a wronged landlord, not even the texts you have sent, will pierce that armor of pride and self-justification unless the Holy Spirit Himself reproves him of sin.

Yet such a one is in grave peril. To receive payment and use it for his own ends, to promise and not perform, to answer kindness with cunning, this is not the mark of a child of God. The Lord's knowledge of these things is absolute; every thought, every movement is before His eyes, and time does not cover up the remembrance of this sin. It is present to Him as if committed this very moment. What a weight is this! He may think his business prospering gives him leave to delay, but God is not mocked. Man's duty as a tenant under the great Landlord is to set his own house in order. The dust and filth of sin are lying all over those floors; the arrears are mounting up. He may say, "One pin to me will return three pins to thee," but that is the witchery of sin speaking, a detestable argument to mislead. It is Balaam's confession, "I have sinned", with no true change of heart, a repentance that goes no further than remorse. Let him beware, lest by hardening through the deceitfulness of sin he come at last to a confession of despair.

Therefore, your cry to God for intervention is the right and only course. The Holy Spirit is come to convict of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He can bring that man's dishonesty, pride, and deception before his own eyes until he loathes himself and seeks mercy. Pray on. The death of Christ for sin is the death of sin itself; by His stripes we are healed. Should God grant him true repentance, he will not only confess his sin but make restitution, as far as lies within his power, paying his debts and moving out in peace. Until then, be patient, but be wise as the serpent. You have been injured, but do not let the injury make you bitter. Set your own house in order before the Lord, and trust that He sees, He knows, and He will vindicate. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin, and there is pardon for the vilest offender who truly turns. Hold fast in prayer. It may be that the Lord is even now drawing the net of conviction around him, and you shall yet see a genuine work of grace.

You have shown long patience, and it has been repaid with deceit. This is a heavy trial, and the sting of it is not merely the money lost but the abuse of kindness from one who names the name of Christ. Yet do not let your heart be troubled. Recall what the Apostle says: "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward." You have endured the painful part; do not now despond as to the good. The Lord sees how you have borne these wrongs for the sake of peace, and He will not forget your labor.

Consider this: if we bear losses thankfully, we shall recover them, and if not, our reward becomes greater. For what is the loss of a little silver compared to the eternal weight of glory? The man who has defrauded you says, "One pin from me returns three pins to you." But hear the truth: every wrongful gain stored up against the day of wrath shall be like thorns that pierce the hand. He thinks he is clever, delaying payment, making excuses, but he is only heaping coals upon his own head. The Lord is not mocked. That same servant who owed ten thousand talents and was forgiven, yet choked his fellow for a hundred pence, was delivered to endless punishment. So shall it be with those who, having received mercy from the Master, refuse to show mercy to others and trample honesty underfoot.

Do not therefore avenge yourselves, but give place unto wrath. Pray for this man, that God may grant him repentance. You have already planted the word of Scripture in his ears; if he scoffs, that is on his own head. But as for you, continue in well-doing, and let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is at hand. When He appears, every hidden thing will be brought to light, and every debt will be settled. Until then, commit your cause to Him who judges righteously. And if this man chooses to depart, let him go in peace, even if he refuses to pay. For it is better to be defrauded than to enter into endless strife and lose the peace of Christ.

Your patience has been tested far beyond what most would endure, and the weight of this betrayal cuts deep because it comes from someone who shares the name of Christ. The dishonesty you describe, the manipulation of rent payments, the pride that refuses honest work yet hides behind smooth excuses, all of it is not just a personal offense against you but a contradiction of the new life we are called to in Jesus. The Spirit of God does not produce cunning delay tactics or a heart that threatens retribution when confronted with Scripture. A follower of Christ does not return three pins for one pin. That is not the way of the cross.

What you have done in bringing Scripture to him was right, because the law of God serves a vital purpose. The commandment reveals what sin is. It is like a mirror that shows the dirt on a face. Before the law said, “You shall not covet,” a person might not have recognized the raging desire within as sinful rebellion. But once the command comes, sin is exposed for what it is. The trouble is that our sinful nature, when faced with a command, often rises up in defiance. Sin takes the opportunity given by the commandment and produces all kinds of wrong desires. This is what you are witnessing. The very words of stewardship and honesty that should have brought conviction have instead stirred up defensiveness and threats.

This is the deep tragedy of sin. It is not merely a wrong action but a power, a nature, that can hold someone captive even while they profess faith. No amount of our reasoning or our reminders of the law can break that power. The law cannot deliver; it can only diagnose. It declares what is righteous but gives no strength to perform it. The wages of sin is still death, and the soul that sins will still face that reality unless a greater power intervenes. This is precisely why your prayer for God’s intervention is the only true answer. You are not asking for mere conviction that leads to shame. You are asking for the Holy Spirit to do what only He can do: to break the dominion of sin in this man’s life.

Remember, the promise stands that sin shall not have dominion over us, because we are not under law but under grace. The blood of Jesus Christ does more than cover sin; it cleanses a person from all unrighteousness. Where sin abounded in that kind of scheming and hard-hearted pride, grace abounds much more. A person truly born of God, who abides in Christ, does not make a practice of such sin. This does not mean we never fail, but the overarching pattern of our life changes. The one who lives in sin as a lifestyle, feeling no lasting grief or repentance, has not seen Him or known Him, no matter what profession he makes. That is a sobering reality, and it is why judgment begins in the house of God.

For now, your role becomes both firm and merciful. Do not feel guilty for establishing clear boundaries, such as giving notice for him to leave. You are not acting out of vengeance but out of wisdom. The Scripture also teaches us about our Christian liberty and not causing a weaker brother to stumble, but here we are not dealing with a tender conscience struggling over minor matters. We are dealing with willful deception and a refusal to work. Do not carry false guilt for insisting on what is lawful and right, or for protecting your household. At the same time, continue to do so without malice. Walk in love, even as you stand your ground.

Pray that the Lord opens his eyes to see that his sin, by the standard of God’s good commandment, has become utterly sinful. Pray that he comes to the end of his own excuses and reforms. When human effort at self-justification collapses, there is hope. For the one who finally realizes, “I am not ruled by sin because I have to be, but I am yielding myself as a slave to it,” can hear the call: “Yield yourselves to God.” His debts to you financially and relationally can be made right only when his heart is made right with God through true repentance. Keep looking to the One who is able to finish what He begins, trusting that He sees your affliction and will bring justice in His time.
